**2011** Epcot Food & Wine Festival HAS ENDED. 2012 Festival 9/28 - 11/11

Hey all!

I can only drink a very limited amount of alcohol so I want to be sure to get the BEST options out there. Anyone have any must do drinks from the booths? Right now I know I want to try the Raspberry Wine at the Korean booth and something from the Champagne booth (what is the difference between them anyway besides price?). I also want to try Saki but will go into the Japan store to do so for a better selection.

Anything else I shouldn't miss? How about the Sparkling Pomegranate Kir at the France Booth?

Thanks all! Two more days and I am at Disney!

I'd check out the ratings on the AllEars food survey...of course, keep in mind your tastes will be different from others, but that might be a good start to some that are really popular or not with people who tried the drink.

The book signing schedule is published in the Weekly Guides. These are available in the Festival Center and Merchandise Markets in World Showcase. Probably other places also.

thanks, so I cant get one until I get there right????

That's correct as far as I know, maybe someone else knows if they are published on a website. I haven't seen the weekly guides anywhere on-line.

What week/chef are you interested in?

Few more days to go. Can't wait. List made of what to try and stayed within budget (well, at least for now). Thanks to everyone who posts the menus with pricing.

Not looking for anyone in particular, just curious who will be there the week of October 24th. I figure if there is someone there I am interested in I could plan my schedule. Not a big deal. I'll wait until I arrive if its not published anywhere. Thank you!!

Had a great long weekend at BCV enjoying Food and Wine. It was quite wet (7 inches of rain in Orlando this past weekend). This did not stop us from having a great time. I especially loved the culinary demo and mixology classes which were fun and had great samples. Thanks to those who recommended them. It was also fun to eat around the world. I guess my faves were the shrimp taco in Mexico, the empanada (was it Brazil?), the beef with sweet potato in South Africa and the coq au vin. Did not care for the much loved seafood pie in Ireland-lots of potato and no seafood; also was not keen on the Singapore rice cake. But mostly, it was all good and the wine/beer in the small sizes was perfect to try many.

Anybody try the Smoked Wheat Beer? I'm a fan of wheat beers but not sure on the smoked part

It is bitter, but not terribly. It will be good for those who enjoy the more bitter-tasting varieties of beer. I tried the small 6 oz beer and I did decide I wouldn't mind drinking a 12 ounce one. I think I would like it more with food, probably savory food.

Stone makes a good one but they can be hard to find on the East coast. Do you have a good craft beer liquor store?

My DH gets the Stone Arrogant *******. I'll have to look for the porter.

I was wondering what the PP was trying, as i'm also in MD.

Actually we've been tasting at home recently some stouts, porters and browns. So of course when I mentioned it my DH pulled a smoked porter out of the fridge - Heavy Seas Smoke on the Water. I'm really liking this one but the smokiness is only on the very end. Very chocolately/espresso up front and then after you're done it leaves a smokey aftertaste.

My favorite is Stone's smoked vanilla porter but I have only had it at their brewery.

Clipper City Brewery.... They are out of Halethorp and they have a Heavy Seas Smoked Porter. I can find it at their brewery (i just bought a case of 22 oz bottles) and at my local package store.

Coincidentally my DH picked up a bottle last week. I really loved this one. We signed up to do their brewery tour Halloween weekend. :goodvibes

Tomorrow is the last day of Baltimore Beer Week, so we love doing all of the events there...

Swan & Dolphin Food & Wine Classic Causeway Tasting

To me, this is now definitely the best kept secret of the festival (partly because it's not officially part of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival). They kicked things up a notch this year. Expanded their offerings, fixed a couple minor glitches from the inaugural event last year, and even had Todd English on hand in support of his restaurant bluezoo. Although the rain did get in the way partway throu, I'd still recommend this to anyone. And with it raining all day today, I'm sure they'll go with the plan to have it inside. If you're looking for something to do this evening (October 8), don't miss this! The brown butter basted lobster roll with truffle may just be the best thing I've ever eaten at a large-scale tasting event like this!

We went on Saturday and I am glad it rained. Everything was indoors. The stands were inside the Swan convention center and the hallways. There were tables and chairs of different sizes all over the place. Did not have to worry about rain, wind, bugs etc.

Check in was at 5pm. No mad dash to get to tables. Found a nice out of the way table. Serving was supposed to start at 5:30 but some openned up earlier.

There were 10 food stations and about 25 wine stations (2 wines per station). So to balance everything out, we HAD to hit each food station more than once.

It is in our plans for next year, especially if it is indoors.

Okay, we're heading to the Food & Wine Festival for the first time later on this week. A few questions about some of the menu items. DH & I are both picky eaters. I want to know about a few items before we spend money on something we won't like.

1) What exactly is in the Lobster & Scallop Fisherman's Pie from Ireland?

2) Is it easy to pick out the Mushrooms & Onions in the Coq au Vin sur gratin macaroni from France?

3) What is is the LeBlon frozen Caipirinha from Brazil?

4) Has anyone had the Soft Serve Vanilla Ice Cream with Grand Marnier yet from the Desserts & Champagne both? I haven't seen any reviews yet. Everyone raves about the Grand Marnier slush so I was wondering if this was good as well.

Thanks for all of your help!
