2011 DISers Halloween Party Dates & Costumes List

I was wondering that myself and trying to remember when Disney first announced the Halloween Party. Dates and ticket prices were announced later. I want to say the first announcement was in May(??) and APs were able to purchase in June (???). They started to sell to the general public in July, I think?? Don't bet your first born on that.

You're correct on all accounts!!!

I am anxiously awaiting the dates for the Halloween Party. This is our first trip during Halloween or any holiday and I am looking at taking the family to two parties during our trip! Not sure when we will tell them that we will be going this year instead of next. But We'll make sure all the ghosties are in a row before we let the cat out of the bag.

Another family going twice! I am beginning to consider it myself. What fun to plan a surprise as fun and special as Halloween Time at DL. Keep us posted as the ghosties are let out of the bag;).

Our family is taking our new addition for her first trip to DL and our first time there at Halloween time!! We are very excited!! You can put us down for the last week of Oct. 24-28. We haven't decided on a hotel yet. :cool1:

It is extra special when the newest member of a family visits DL for the very first time. Oct. is one of the best time to do it, too. When you get your hotel booked, you can post your dates and lodging on the October Check In thread. I am keeping a list of DISers planning an October vacation at DL. October Check in Thread

I thought so. It seems like a long time until May for the first announcement, but it will be here soon enough.

We will be there the 5th through the 12th and will do at least one maybe two parties that week. I have been there in October but that was long before they started making Halloween special so a lot of firsts for us all this time yea! Costumes are ready as we were pirates last year and made the front page of the paper so we figure they must be good enough for another outing right?

I think we nailed down our dates...October 16th-20th! No more weekend MHP for us! :cool1:

How lucky to have your costumes ready to go. Make sure you post your pirate costumes on the Halloween superthread. I'm sure lots of folks would love to see you in them. That is the one thing I never have ready until the last minute. Last year, one of my DD made a costume for the other DD. I think I am going to try to get them working on making a costume during the summer. At lease get them to think about it.

When you have your hotel booked, come on over to the October Check In thread and post the dates and hotel. I'll make sure that the info gets added to the list of October Sojourners. October Check In thread

I am still deciding when to go myself. Since the dates of MHP will not be announced until late spring, I am torn when to arrive. Do I want to book a Friday and be sure to be able to attend a MHP or do I book midweek and hope that there will be a midweek party that will fit well with my dates? I really don't want to go on a Friday. Decisions, decisions.

I am tentatively planning a trip for 10/2 - 10/5 and hoping that it would include a MHP night. I think based on last years, they should have one for Tues 10/4. Not sure if I should just book or wait for the dates to be announce. It will be a ladies trip staying at the Grand. I have never been at Halloween - have been the past 6 years at Christmas - so thought I would try another holiday at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Is the party only offered in October? Or are there a few dates at the end of Sept also?

When the Halloween party was held in DCA, there were parties held on Thursdays. Hard to tell what they will do this year. Will they add more days? if so, what days? Maybe they will change the one weekday party day to another one, and not schedule them on Tuesdays. Hard to tell until the announcement is made. We go the last week of October (kids have that week off form school), so I will probably try to book a one bedroom at the VGC from Tuesday 10/25 to Friday 10/28. to cover every possibility. Right now I have a reservation at the Anaheim Marriot Suites from 10/27 to the 29th to be sure that we can make it to a Halloween Party.

Last year, all of Mickey's Halloween Parties were in October. But they could decide to have them in September. They do for the Florida party event (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party) Who knows ? :confused3 Like I said, above, we will have to wait for the announcement later this spring.

That is a good plan, disneychrista. You should be able to get a Halloween Party in for sure.

The pic is now on the superthread :upsidedow

Yes, T saw it earlier today. How great you all look! I am jealous that you have really good and realistic costumes. I can see why you made it on the front page of your paper. I bet you can't wait to wear them during MHP.

As for me, I can't wait for the announcements from Disney.

Bumping. I've been working on the first post. I'm sorry to say that for all the time I put into it, there isn't much to show.

We'll be at the parks Oct. 20-23. Can't wait to attend the Halloween Party!

You will enjoy Halloween Time at DL. There is lots to see and the Party is a blast. If you want to have some information about Halloween Time, you can go the Halloween at DLR Superthread . There is lots of information on last year's Party and lots of pics, too.

When Disney makes an announcement on this year's Party, I'll post here. Have planning!

We're considering rescheduling our May trip (due to POTC) to Late September/Early October. I'd like to go early enough in October to still have nice weather and the least chance of rain, but still be able to attend the Halloween Party!

a few Questions......
I saw somewhere that there are rules about costumes in regards to being Disney and having pictures taken. What is the rule?

Is the Halloween Party parade the only parade that typically runs during that time?

What about Fantasmic?

Do the crowds differ between the week day party and the weekend party?

(I'm sure I have more questions, but that's it for now ;)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but F! normally doesn't run during the parties, and there is only one parade, but they call it a cavalcade. It's kinda cute, and worth seeing at least once. The fireworks are awesome!

As for pictures and costumes, it's mostly for adults dressed as Disney characters, so that children don't get confused and think they're meeting "the" Belle, Woody, etc. Sometimes you can get away with it, sometimes security will give you a talking to. What we did is let people take pictures of us, but not with us (for the most part). We did take a group photo with a Pocahontas and Kokoum (sp?) because they were adults and knew we weren't the real Peter Pan crew. Little kids taking pics with little kids is totally fine.

Edit: Crowds! I went on the 19th and 29th last year, a Tuesday and Friday respectively. They were honestly about the same for crowds, and it was raining horrendously from about 3 to 5 on the 19th. You normally get to enter the park 3 hours early (hence part of the reasoning behind the strict photo-costume rules), and the lines were normal with the other park guests. Matterhorn was probably about 15-20 minutes. Once the party actually started, the line for Space was however long it took you to walk the queue (later it got up to 25 min or so). The best time for going on attractions is right as the party is starting, when the day guests have left but most party guests haven't arrived.

KBelle5, you got it pretty much right. In addition, there is a rule about not having a gory look to your costume, too. Thank you for your valuable input. I know you and your friends had a blast last year dressed in your group-themed costumes which were so well done and realistic.

I have found that going on the rides for the first part of the party is a good idea, because most party goers are in the candy trick or treat lines. If on our way to a ride there was an empty line, we got in it and went at least twice before heading to the intended ride. Be fore warned, you will get lots of candy! We are still working trough our bags from last year. This year, I am going to get less and less candy and enjoy more of the dance areas and rides. And ask for more of the healthier options. I still have dried cranberries which I use for salads.

MicknMinnJen, the Halloween Superthread will give you more information and answer your questions as well. It is well organized by Sherry E. The first post has a wealth of information about the official announcements, parties times and dates, and lots more. Here is the link to the Halloween Superthread.

Another thing on costumes is no weapons or things that look like weapons not purchased in the park. For our pirates we are going to go buy new stuff when we get there as our stuff we wore last year are replica weapons and are way to real for DL.
