2011 Destashing Thread

I'd love some info on that! I've gotten rid of a lot of the papers already but I've been hanging onto stuff I'd rather shred.

:cool1: I have a pile of stuff to bring... that I wasn't exactly sure how to get rid of.

Thank you so much for posting these! :goodvibes

ETA~ looks like the zoo is doing double duty...shredding and electronics drop off. And they'll wipe the hard drives too so I don't even have to do it myself. Wow, even easier for me!

AND a zoo coupon!
Here's the stuff from the credit union although I think the zoo is doing paper too:

(note that not all days are on the first page, you have to click 'next' for the one on the south side.)

So far this morning I have gotton rid of 3 games and a travel pillow. Really don't have much to get rid of any longer but once in a while I will dig around.

Just trying to keep myself motivated on this rainy day! So far sorted 4 boxes down to 2, I have one box and one large shopping bag ready for next week's shredder event, and a bag of old wires and stuff that I cannot donate or sell.
Gotta head out and do weekly errands now...so I fear my progress is short lived, but at least it's better than nothing!

Thanks for the link! :goodvibes

I'm super pleased about the zoo electronics drop off. I have my math final on Sat so I'll just swing over to the zoo on my way to the highway. I don't even have to go out of my way and use extra gas. You couldn't plan it more perfectly! LOL I already told DH to make sure he helps me load up the trunk this week so it's all in there on Sat morning.

question....

do you think I should keep the DS game boxes or just get rid of them? I bought little cases that hold like 10-15 games each and those cases are smaller than just one game box! I'm sure the kids will get tired of the games eventually but I'm not sure if having the box matters or not for places like GameStop.

It would clear about half a shelf in my closet if I tossed them.

GameStop pitches boxes and instructions if you bring them in with your games. They don't have room to store them either :lmao:

Bumping this up to see how everyone's doing!

Well, it was supposed to rain today so we didn't do the yard sale. However, I woke up to a gorgeous day so I guess we missed out. Can't feel too bad though cause I really hate yard sales. I need to pack up the stuff & haul it to Goodwill today anyway. I may try to sell a few items on CL but the misc. stuff is going.

I did the general house pick up today but haven't figured out what to de-clutter next. Not quite ready to tackle the basement but that is my next big project. Looking for a little project today and will probably read back through some of the old posts for inspiration.

Today was Bulk Trash Day. Took an old huge metal desk down there. :thumbsup2

I've picked a date for my yard sale. This will make me get my butt in gear in some areas I've been stalling on. I know there are things to go, I just haven't pulled them out of where they are yet. I have 3 wks and I'm doing this alone this time. Luckily I've done a lot of yard sales in the past, and I'm staging it in the garage this time. Set up well in advance. Just open the door when sale begins. :goodvibes

Still plugging away at my office redo. Cabinets are all done & hung. Need to sort through boxes of junk & put everything away. Meantime, tonight, I've sat & organized a million little notes & lists I had. Going to use Evernote on computer & iPhone for this from now on & skip the paper. :goodvibes

I'm excited, I did some googling for a recycling center near me and found a place that we can take our old computers and a broken bike to be recycled :cool1: and they pay for them. Now I just need to find someplace to take our old crt monitor. That will clear up a bunch of room in my garage. They aren't open today or after DH gets off work this week so that will give me until next Saturday to see what all I can find for him to take ;)

Worked in the garage today. Put out a broken bar stool, some old drywall, and a bunch of junk. Can now walk from the front of the garage to the back of the garage. :)

I did this, too :goodvibes. I am so happy with how the garage looks now, I got rid of alot of empty boxes, got 3 computers, a bike and two bed rails ready for DH to take to recycling. I also emptied out a deck box of alot of junk (mostly trash) and cleaned it up and took the camping stuff out of an old cardboard box that it didn't fit in and put it in the deck box, it really made the garage look neater. And it saved money because I was thinking about buying some rubbermaid totes for the camping supplies :thumbsup2.

More stuff pulled from closet to get rid off: Punch bowl set, 1.5 qt crockpot, my grandparents antique stand kitchen mixer (sunbeam) with booklet, coffee maker, food dehydrator. Still debating on blender & bread maker. lol Don't think that closet has ever looked as empty. :D

Broke down my stash of boxes and took them to the cardboard dumpster for recycling. Boxes are one of my weaknesses, I always want to save them 'just in case'. Also took all of DD and DH's old Crocs to the Croc store for recycling. :goodvibes

bye bye DayPlanner!!!!! Haven't touched you in years since going the smartphone route. :goodvibes

Also a never used 2006 Passporter and leather binder.

Adding belts & summer hats to the pile.

THIS FEELS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm am getting rid of so much I do not use, need, or want. I have been long overdue to do this. Not sure what has changed, but this time, its just been easier than ever before.

Love this thread. :goodvibes

DH, who has been a self-confessed packrat, is tossing his supply of scrap lumber & massive collection of cardboard boxes from the garage after being unable to locate his staple gun. Yay!

I don't even know where to start when I get home today; need to do the fridge, the entryway....Well, I guess I will start there!

:cool1:
Pretty much emptied out my attic yesterday. :cool1: 1980s Wedding dress, antique portable typewriter from some past relative, antique dishes I had been guilted into taking by MIL when I married DH over 23 yrs ago, old drapes, storage & organizer containers, frames, old knick knacks.......
We don't have children, so no one is going to want this stuff.

Just kept stuff like fans, luggage, 1 trunk of our childhood memories, and a trunk of DH's military stuff he needs to turn in when he finally gets out, cat carriers, and empty boxes.

It was getting warm up there, so I'll go back on a rainy day & just finish putting what's left up on the shelves to tidy up.

I've been slacking off but I am determined to get rid of stuff this weekend! :cool1:

Got rid of 10 sets of sheets that don't match our current needs! Was also ruthless with multiple running shirts - 30 of those gone. Told myself, I only need a week's worth of short sleeve and a week's worth of long sleeve. After all, I have a washer and am not washing these on a rock at the river :lmao:

Everything is bagged and ready for our donation pick up this week. Just got back from church, so after finishing my daily computer check, I am heading into my office/craft room and see what else I can do this weekend. Go me!
