2011 Destashing Thread

I've been craigslisting like mad we've made over $700 mostly on little things. It makes me feel so accomplished - something leaves the house and we get $$ for it - how cool is that? It makes decluttering so much fun!

Wow, that's awesome! I have odds & ends but can't get motivated enough to list them. I just told DH I will either list them or donate them by the end of the year. I am so tired of picking up and trying to put away the misc. stuff that collects around here. I'm determined to make space for my teacher manuals in our family room cabinet instead of having them piled up on a shelf. Plus my junk and paper drawers get piled w/stuff then I can't find anything.

Also, the computer desk needs to be cleared and I should shred some old papers.

Finally, DH has a bunch of clothes he wants to get rid of and I do too. If I have not fixed the unraveled hem on pants by now, I"m probably going to ever. Same w/other minor repairs or issues that make them not my favorite choices. The garage needs to be cleared out again so we can get DD's car in when it starts snowing

I think I should be able to get those areas done over the holidays and am looking forward to clean, pared down spaces for January! Then I can spend time working on my photo organization project and making DD's recipe book. :thumbsup2

Anyone else starting those last little projects before 2012 starts? I have not listed my stuff yet and time is running out. I did collect a small pile of Christmas stuff that I've decided to donate. I put all this stuff out because I have it but realized it's ok to pass along a few things that are not sentimental & just take up space.

I also moved stuff around & recycled some paper to make space. My teaching books now have shelf space behind doors & that area looks much better. The kitchen counters are cleaned off again from the post-holiday goodies/gifts, etc.

I need to clear the junk drawer, pencil drawer and art drawer for the kids. They are all disorganized & I'm tired of squishing things to get them shut.

Hoping to go through the kids' closets as well as mine and the garage by NY Day. Anyone else getting motivated???

I spent Tuesday working on destashing our tool boxes. It sounds odd but we had so many multiples of things. I let my two neighbors have first pics on the extras (they are always helping us out) and the rest I dropped off at good will today. We now have a small set of tools in our "junk" drawer and a larger set in the laundry room.

Well, I finally finished all my decluttering after 2 days. I feel so much better and the house just feels so much lighter. I am sure goodwill loves me. I hope everyone can finish the decluttering.

My big spring purchase is going to be a new sofa but stated that I wont be allowing myself to buy it until all of the clutter in the house is gone. I was going to craigs list some stuff, but a lot of the smaller stuff I figured I'd rather donate just to get it out of here. I feel like the clutter has taken over! I'm really trying to get it done before the other half gets home from his business trip. I thought it would be a great surprise. I may have tackled too large of a project though. How does everyone keep from getting so overwhelmed?

I'm working on the garage since it's close to 50 here. So far, so good. Our dumping ground near the door is almost done. It was mostly plastic bags & cardboard for recycling. I have all the bags in my car and the cardboard is in a shipping box for next week's pick up.

I have a bag of DD's old jeans and a box of misc. stuff I'd collected in the garage & house to donate. I'm feeling motivated but need to clear out this huge TV box in the back before I can get at the rest. I do have one laundry basket free & clear now and will have another one to use once I figure out what DH wants to do w/some clothes his bro gave him that don't fit.

I also need to figure out where the paint recycling place is around here. We have several cans that we don't need but aren't dry enough for the trash.

Off to hit my closet next!!

one last post for 2011.

We have let go of a lot of stuff this year and did some major decluttering and donating this past couple weeks.

Our bedroom looks better than it ever has....ok my side of the bedroom looks great, DH not so much! LOL But most of his mess is kid art stuff that he hasn't taken photos of yet.

the garage looks amazing right now. I hope I can keep it like that all year. There are still some things to get rid of but I have plans for it all.

the kids rooms are always a work in progress but I did get rid of 5 bags of toys so that has to count for something! LOL

of course in all my decluttering I seem to have misplaced one of my goodwill lists that needs to go with a receipt. I do not want to even try to recreate that list if I can't find it! :headache: Cross your fingers it magically turns up someplace.

I hope everyone has a great NYE and hopefully I'll 'see' you all next year's declutter thread! :goodvibes

I know there was a destashing thread or a decluttering thread for 2012 but i cant find it. i've done searches but no luck. Can someone please direct me in the right direction or post a link. Thanks
