Very inspirational post!
Regarding Flylady, I too find her too much to take in.
But I know her concepts are excellent so I would love to see her *rules*. Is there a list you could post for us? Would appreciate it!

Well, I just browsed her site and it is truly and disorganized mess (I know - Ironic) she should really hire someone to streamline it as it is sort of a rambling list of thoughts and no one place where you can go for rules. But the concepts that I revisit from time to time to start over when I lose steam are on the following pages:

My favorite is "how to declutter"

http://flylady.com/pages/FLYingLessons_Declutter.asp

This page is a list of pages that each teach a seperate concept and I revist them from time to time:

http://flylady.com/pages/FLYingLessons.asp

getting dressed to the shoes every day makes a big difference for me. Having the dishes done and the sink and counter clean for the next morning gets my next day of to a flying start.

I've thought & said the same about the FlyLady site before. ROFL. I even posted it on her Facebook page. :goodvibes

Its a mess & too confusing.

Yesterday I took 8 bags of stuff up to goodwill. It feels so good to have all of those clothes out of my house. I have lost 30lbs since November and to get rid of the too big clothes it feels great.

Congrats! :thumbsup2

Today's items:

wedding dress from 22 years ago - honestly, we don't have children and nieces aren't going to want it. Its just taking up room. DH said it was fine. He knows I still love him. :goodvibes

A thermos - the old fashioned glass lined kind.

Even though I havent posted here in a bit, I just wanted to say that I have certainly still been "destashing". I had so many of DD's clothes, who is now in a size 12. But I had clothing that went back to when she was 3 months, and I am so happy to say they are all gone! This past weekend I sold the last bunch on CL.Nice to have empty bins and to know that the next clothes I will be selling are basically the ones she is wearing now.

How did you the last bunch of clothes on CL ? I have a lot of dd's clothes. I was going to have a yardsale but I dont have the energy this weekend. I have clothes size 5T- girls size 10-12
Do you sell by lots? If so how much usually per pieces in each lot?

We did sell and entry way cabinet on CL for $70 and it made a big difference in our garage more space :)

I'm going to post 2 car seats, swing, bike and an entertainment center on CL too. I have 4-5 home interior pictures that I'd like to sell but not sure on price. I know I wont get anything close to what I paid.

I got my mom to go through all of her books and cookbooks and have three boxes to take up to sell at half-price books tomorrow.

We also sold some silver pieces that we broken and got a little bit of fun money to play around with, plus it got them out of our house.

Does anyone have a great way of organizing hair accessories that they want to show off?

Anyone else slowed down? I think I'm at the point where most of the easy stuff is gone and my momentum's fizzing out. I need to find a way to get motivated again. :confused3

I have slowed down but am in no way done. I think I just needed a break from all the destashing.

My goal today however is to tackle the tupperware cabinet :scared1:

Yup thats me. I've destashed the *easy* stuff, weeded out the first line of excess, and now need to dig deeper. It isn't gonna be easy :( but I really need to get rid of more stuff!

Yes, I have, partly because I haven't had any time and partly because the front line is done. It looks better but not where I want it to be. Now I'm stuck w/all the "not exactly sure what to do with them" items.

Can anyone suggest a good paper system? My paper/bill drawer is overflowing & I missed a deadline by a day. I had to pay double to register my dogs due to my dis-organization. That hurt & woke me up that I really need to file properly. Usually I just store important deadlines in my head but I've been too busy to keep up with them lately.

My kids will be out of town this week for their spring break so it seems like a good time to work on some house stuff.

The kids de-stashed their rooms better than I could last weekend so our upstairs hall is full of piles. I need to tackle some stuff in the garage then I can move the piles out there. THEN put them out in the community yard sale later this month or donate by the end of April. I despise yard sales but may relent since the kids want to earn money from their old stuff.

O.k., so I'm late joining this movement. I was sick and had 2 surgeries with a 10 week old at home in January. I'm fully healed now, so no more excuses. Add to that our trip is in less than 6 months, I need to get busy. I plan to clean, destash, and unload for a profit. I have tons of stuff to list on e-bay and I'm going to try my hand at CL. I know if I just get started, I have more than enough stuff to earn enough money to pay off our trip. That has been my goal all along, to pay without touching the bank account. So far so good, but now, it's crunch time. So, the pictures are all snapped, just need to start uploading tomorrow.

Yesterday I tackled the tupperware. It was easier than I thought it would be and now everything in there has matching lids. I also got it down to one shelf. I did take a few bigger bowls we use to take things to parties downstairs to store in our pantry down there.

Hmmm. I'd probably get or make a french bulletin board (fabric cover with crisscrossed ribbon) and display barrettes and such on the ribbons. You could cover an oatmeal container with fabric or paper and have a nice headband station. It would need something on the bottom to keep it from rolling though, maybe hot glue some thick buttons on the bottom.

I use toilet paper rolls for hair bows and elastic bands. We have a ton of them.

---------------------------------

I have been in a rut with destashing. I do have several bags to donate by the door for my next trip out. And I am gathering things for consignment too. Slow going though. So much to do before the kids get out for summer. It's a time crunch now.

right now I have all DD's headbands on a towel rack in the bathroom (one of those that goes over a door), and then have her pony holders looped through pipe cleaners. All the clips are on a french bulletin board that is also hanging from the towel rack. It's not beautiful but it is very functional.

My project to clean it all up is: get a length of tubing that is wide enough to hold the headbands and cover it with a cute fabric. Just hot glue it on, and hot glue on a couple of acrylic squares on the end so it doesn't roll. And then put up a shelf in the bathroom to sit it on. Then hot glue/stitch ribbons onto a strip of fabric that I'll attach to the edge of the shelf to put her clips on. Might just get a little basket to contain the pony holders. I've got a picture in my head of how I want it to look and where it will go.

I did it! I finally posted some stuff on e-bay. Feels good to free myself of this stuff, and hopefully make some $ for the trip at the same time. I have 24 items up and have in mind a bunch more to add to it tomorrow!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hope everyone else's weekend was productive, too!

I've come to a halt detashing stuff but of no choice of my own. After nextweek I'll be back at it!

Here's what we will be getting rid of.......
-Entertainment center tried selling on craigs List. Dh put up one photo. I want to re-list with more photos and open the cabinets for better view.

-desk

-clothes

-bag of dd's shoes

-polly pocket stuff theres a big lost of dolls, clothes, shoes , purses , car and a practicly new polly pocket bag for the dolls and stuff and a plastic polly pocket flower container anyone know what i should ask for that?

-dd's butterfly flower 3d bedspread with matching pillows the flowers and butterflies are stuffed and sewn onto the bedspread

-tony lil gazelle

-treadmill

and thats not even going through the hallway closet or dh closet

My daughter's hair clips are all on a hanger. I hot glued about six long pieces of 2" wire edged ribbon along the bottom rungs of a large plastic hanger. Her clips are sorted by color and are clipped to the ribbon. On the sides of the hanger, I put her alligator style clips (the ones that are like little chip clips). Over the top of the hanger, I put one of those pony tail holder rings that has all of her hair rubber bands (the holder is a lot like a big key ring). I put a Command adhesive hook on the inside of the bathroom door and hung the hanger on it, but we used to hang it on the inside of her closet door.

It looks pretty cool, is easy to get to, and is out of the way when we don't need it. I put her headbands in a Ziploc bag in the drawer.

Got stalled for a while kids were sick, and life was getting busy & in the way. Upgraded our T.V. which required a new entertainment center so we opted for a smaller one - in the process We got rid of a roll top desk, sorted our DVDs (which we rarely watch) have about a 1/2 diaper box full of DVDs to sell, and tossed a bag of wires/charges for computers and cell phones we no longer have.
Better than nothing! I want to spring clean some more but DS is sick, so that's gonna play a roll in getting things done!
