I will definitely do that! Are you working next Saturday? I can't wait to meet you. My name is Tina too.

Opps. This weekend I'm working Sunday and Monday (4/17 and 4/18). Then next weekend I'll be only working Sunday (4/24). Then I start Saturdays (4/30) and Sundays.

thanks for that, i have phoned them and their contract is standard or water. They can request standard garden view to avoid the car park, as when they formed the contract with Disney, there were only two catagories available. So that's good news. Now my next question is, if I requested Wedding gazebo, facing Epcot, are any of these rooms standard, as I'm sure I read on the first thread that some of them were, although I note the map shows them as water view? Thanks for your help

No, if you booked a standard, unless you get upgraded to a garden, the only rooms available are parking lot and roof views. Before 1/1/11, a standard view could request and get a view of the wedding gazebo. No more.

Virgin is giving you 2010 information, not 2011. We deal with this with all the Virgin guests coming in.

Along those lines, if anyone has questions from their kids about BC, our oldest is a pre-teen and loves to share his opinions about anything! He's anxiously awaiting the day that we let him set up an account on these boards - he even selected a screen name![/QUOTE]

Sounds like my DD9 (almost 10). She had to go over all the menus on Allears with me before we made our ADRs, had specific restaurants she wanted to revisit etc. She's gone over every inch of our Birnbaum WDW Guide as well as the WDW brochure! Gotta love it!!:banana::banana:

Tenna - What happens then, do they get the car park, even though VH have told the client they have Garden? VH are a nightmare to deal with.

VH will have negociated the rooms with Disney way back in 2010 for 2012 holidays. It will be a 2012 holdiay that I am booking

I had waterview rooms for back to back stays at the YC for 2 Disney Institute trainings I had taken. My rooms were by sheer luck, 5 rooms apart on the same floor, same side. They were both wonderful.

Room numbers were 4127 and 4137. Both overlooked the gazebo and had a great view of the Boardwalk. 4137 was at the very end (if you were standing at the gazebo looking up at the room it was staight ahead and all the way right) and had a nice large balcony. 4127 had a more panormaic view since it was located more towards the middle.

If you're lucky enough to get rooms in that area then you have totally lucked out! Nothing better than sitting out there after a great day at the parks and the pool and just unwinding. My favorite thing was hearing the boat horns going off. So relaxing.

Uh oh, here I go. Depression setting in thinking about how much I wish I was there right now, though at my precious Beach Club................................

If you booked a standard view and are paying for a standard view, unless you get a complimentary upgrade or unless you pay for an upgrade, you will get a standard view. All standard view rooms have a view of either a roof or a parking lot.

Unfortunately that's what you booked. Doesn't matter when you booked it. That's what you are paying for. If you could actually get a decent Virgin person to do it, just like before with other UK guests, Virgin can call Disney and get you to a garden view and charge you accordingly. But you have to get someone at Virgin that is willing to help you. The other UK guests had to really push and push their UK travel agents, whether it was Virgin or another one. When these UK booked the trips, there was no "garden view" ... there was only standard or water. And back before 1/1/11, if you booked a standard view you could request a wedding gazebo because all the courtyard, garden, woods, parking lot and roof views were ALL standard views. With the new classification, only parking lot and roof views are standard. You are paying for standard and that's what you are going to get unless you get some pixie dust or pay a very very very cheap amount to get the upgrade to a garden view. If it were me, I'd be demanding to speak to a manager at Virgin and tell them that garden view is a new category and it is available for your length of stay (if it is -- you need to go on line and see) and that you want it and you need Virgin to call Disney and get it changed to garden view. If you get somebody that actually cares, they can do it. Most of the time you are going to get the sob story that they only contracted for water and standard ... yes, because that's all that was there when they made the contract - there wasn't a garden view category. There is one now and Disney will work with Virgin IF you can get somebody at Virgin to do it.

A couple of things for this post:

First off be aware that the wearing a loud shirt at the pool thing may sometimes back fire on you. One year I got one of those shirts for my husband. The only problem was that he fell asleep on the bed before we made it out to the pool and got lost in one of those hotel bed spreads. It took us DAYS to find him and we think it was on purpose too! Now we keep snacks on hand to lure him out of his hiding place so he joins us on vacation. A well placed placed Oreo cookie is irresistable to a cranky husband. Throw in a beer and he'll follow you everywhere.

Now for the second thing..... There is a thread for people who hate the Beach Club????? GEEZ!!

OK, here comes the third thing. There is no such thing as a bad parent when that parent is letting their child carefully spread their wings in a well supervised setting. Only the parent of a particular child would be in a position to "judge" whether that child is capable of some level of independence. Listen to what other people have to say but don't be intimidated or allow yourself to feel judged. Just try to think of it as another source of info that you may want to consider when making your decision. Only you know your children the best.

Just my 2 cents....

Marlton Mom

Hey ... did you get the email I sent you?

We're thinking of staying at the YC again, having stayed there in 2010.

Last time we had a standard room 454 my DS thinks, which over looked the wedding gazzebo. I would like a room on the opposite side to this, so facing epcot, does anyone know what room numbers these are please. The reason for wanting this is, is that it gets more sun on a morning, when I like to sit outside. From looking at the new first post though, it maybe that these rooms are now garden view as Disney appears to have re-catagorised its rooms.

From reading the post, I am interpreting that she actually does NOT want the gazebo view. You want a room on the other side of the YC facing EPCOT to enjoy the morning sun, is that right?

Teena- Assuming that she is able to change her booking to GV through VH pixiedust: are there quite a few rooms or not that many that would fit that description?

Good BC news for us!

A gv cl room with the 30% finally opened up for the second part of our trip.
We are now booked gv cl for the whole 15 days. We had to do it in two reservations because they will only let you book 14 days in one reservation with a discount.

Now I won't have to beg to stay in the gv cl room!

Funny thing for the second part of our reservation with is the last 6 nights, I think the total difference in price from sv cl to gv cl (with the discount) was about $24 total!!!!

Hey Marlton Mom - I caught the :banana::banana:!!!

I'll tell my kids, the oldest two are DS12 and DD 14 and they I'm sure have some questions, picked BC especially for the pool for them! Tell your DS any advice is welcome!

I have stayed at almost every resort on property with the exception of GF. After staying at values, moderates and the Poly (twice and 13 years apart) I have learned that I just don't really care for hotels with separate outside buildings. I really like being under one roof. I stayed at BC initially and liked it but continued to try other resorts. I had stayed at BWV and was trying to book a stay at BWI when there was no availability. There was availability at YC and the reservation CM was trying to convice me to stay there. I explained that I had already stayed at BC and while liking it I wanted to try somewhere different. She assured me while it was similar it would be a completely different experience. That was 10 YC trips ago. This is where I keep coming back to now. It is true. Everyone wants something different and has different expectations from their vacation experience. I'm so glad I decided to take her advice and try the YC even after having stayed at the BC. I have been back to the BC since and would stay there again if I couldn't get YC, but YC has become my home.:cloud9: It makes me very happy and my son has been going since he was 3 and he is now 10. He's happy there too and thinks it's very kid friendly.:goodvibes

I am so happy you posted this. I think we will like YC. I was getting a little nervous about all the opinions on the "Darker Side" but I like the decor of YC. We are staying CL and I wanted a GV but all they had available was SV, WV & Suites...Ummmm yeah I'd like a suite but out of our price range:mad::rotfl:

Do you think I will have any luck getting GV?? If I keep calling everyday and annoy the heck out of them:rotfl: We are staying on a pin code and I think that is the problem...nine days CL...

How many SV & GV rooms are ther in YC CL...trying to figure out my odds.

I'd switch over to BC but I want a full balcony...I guess we will see.

Definitely love it! One of my favorite things about planning Disney trips is getting the boys into it - so fun!

P.S. Wave hello to Newport Beach for us if you're ever passing by - we're not going this summer because we're trying the 3-night Dream cruise and we'll miss it! If we cruise again, I'm lobbying for the MR cruise so we can leave out of LA and get a couple days in Newport!

That is awesome...I am going to keep trying for YC CL I have SV but I want a GV. It is only $5/night(before discount) extra between the two but I think that they are sold out:sad2:

Yay!! As a fellow stalker of discounted BC GV CL rooms, I can really appreciate this!! And for the whole 15 days WITH the discount - now that's an accomplishment! :cheer2:

Hi
Yes that's what I'm after, a room so I can have the sun. The rooms opposite where we were last time had the morning sun. We were in 4152 last time, when we arrived reservations were down and the guy offered us two rooms, 4152 and another one at the back.

I have now sent VH an e-mail saying I have contacted Disney (Ihaven't, but Tenna works there, so its as good as:thumbsup2) and they have told me if I book a standard with VH I will get the car park etc, so they will need to phone Disney to sort it out.

I haven't actually booked anything yet, I want to make sure that I am getting what I want. I'd rather stay at another resort than have a view of a car park, Stormalong bay or not. I don't mind paying the extra, but VH are saying I won't need to when clearly Disney say I will need to based on what Tenna has said. I might actually e-mail Disney myself to get it in writing and then push VH to sort it out before I book.

Thanks for clarifying all of this and your patience. Heather

PS Anyone have the appropriate e-mail address, so that I can contact Disney myself in case its needed?

It's been years since I've actually worked and been in the rooms over at the YC so I honestly don't know. Hopefully some of our YC posters will be able to help her. All I know for certain is that if she has a standard view, it will be parking lot or roof she will see. But as you know, even with a roof view, it isn't all bad ... you got to see fireworks over the trees from Magic Kingdom.

Its been 4 days since I have read anything and now I am all caught up. As we were just there last month at BCV, I am already thinking of our next vacation. Unfortuntley it probably will not be until 2013 or 2014 (boo), unless I win the lotto!!! In 2009 we stayed at AKL Kidani and we absolutley loved our actual one bedroom villa, especially since it had 2 full bathroom (bonus) and a pull out bed chair. We did not like our room location and the never ending long walk from the lobby to our room. Way too much walking to get to your room. We also did not like how long the buses took to get to all the parks. Last month our stay at BCV was simply wonderful. We had a one bedroom villa here too. I liked our room but two negatives stuck out :had only one bathroom with way too many doors and no pull out chair, just the pull out sofa. Now I only have 2 kids, but one is a girl and the other is a boy. My 11 year old boy prefers to sleep without his sister as she is a mover and shaker in her sleep. So needless to say during our stay last month he asked my DH to switch with him some nights so he could sleep in our bed without the mover and shaker. With that said, it all worked out fine. We managed fine with the one bathroom. Our room was room #348 and the walk from the lobby or Epcot was so close. We always walked into Epcot and even one day walked in HS. During our stay the boats were down so we did have the option to take a bus to HS as well, which we did one day. The buses were quick and no problem at all.
Now I am thinking of our next stay and I keep coming back to Beach Club. My family mentioned staying at Bay Lake Tower but by the time we go again both kids will be 14 and 11 and MK may not be so great to them anymore. I guess the next 3 years time will tell, but I just wanted to say to everyone that we loved our stay last month at BCV!!!!!

All the CL GV rooms at the BC have full balconies. There are nine CL GV room at the BC.

There are only five CL GV rooms at the YC. There are 34 CL SV rooms at the YC.
