OK, not that I'm promoting my trip report or anything... :rolleyes1

Here is the post I wrote about watching the fireworks from the beach at the Poly- I (note that it says "I") did this after our dinner at Ohana on our last night at Disney.

It should answer your questions about the experience

Great pictures!!! It makes me want to go to WDW again this year. But I will have to live vicariously through all of you!

Is there a Pick-a-pearl kiosk at the Beach Club? If so, is the one in EPCOT preferable or are they both about the same?

There is a kiosk along the beach near Hurricane Hannah's. Can't compare the two locations.

Okay this stinks. Please please, if anyone is there and knows that it is or will be by Saturday, please share! This is one of the main reasons I switched resorts! Of course, we can walk to Epcot but its nice to know if its hot and we are tired we can do the boat.

If you're at the YC, it might be a bit less walk to take the boat but will always take longer as the route goes to the BW before going on to Epcot. Returning from Epcot, it does the same. If you'll be at BC, the walk to the boat dock at the YC is about the same as the walk to the IG. If going to DHS, walk to the IG and catch the boat there if the dock at Y&BC is still closed.

doccoc2002, my heart goes out to you. You and your family are in my prayers. If you're not being seen at an academic breast cancer center, please consider going to one.

Robyn and Teena, you're both in my prayers as well. Robyn, your mother must be a very strong woman. She has been through so much.

I'm confused...

We have a standard club level room booked at BC.

It looks like only a few dollars more to upgrade to garden view (probably will do this, but i thought i already did. confused)

Here's the question:

In the gv description it mentions afternoon tea, it doesn't say that under the std description.

Do they still have tea? I haven't read anything about it.

Thanks.

DH just asked me if USA Today is delivered to the BC? If not is it offered for sale at the BC MarketPlace?

Yes and yes.

No papers for BCV though.

The only difference between standard view CL and garden view CL is the view. All the lounge offerings, snacks, drinks, etc, are the same for everyone.

We never watch the fireworks from the MK- we usually plan to go to the MK the day that they have Spectomagic or Electric Light Parade- we watch the parade in front of the train station or in front of Tony's.

When the parade is over we rush to the resort boats and get a ride to the boat dock at the Poly. We watch the fireworks from the dock (there are a few benches on the dock facing the MK) or from the beach. We usually arrive at the dock, if were lucky, about 20 minutes before the fireworks start.

If you know when and where to look you can even see the light when Tinkerbell flies down the wire. After the fireworks are over, we get a cab back to the YC.

This saves us from fighting with the large crowd of people, that leave the MK after the fireworks!

If were lucky we even have time to watch the water parade.

OK, as a confirmed Poly lover, I'm about to lose my mind!

We're planning to go back to WDW summer 2012.

Minus any discounts, the Poly is just SO expensive.

I had pretty much decided on a Garden Wing room at the Contemporary, but I can't help feeling like I'm spending thousands of dollars and still settling. And the kids aren't impressed with the pool.

So it occurred to me to take a look at the BC, and I think I'm liking what I see! It's still almost $300 a week cheaper than the Poly. And I think my water rats will love Stormalong Bay.

Tell me, BC lovers-- any other pros or cons to the BC over the Poly???

Yes and yes.

No papers for BCV though.

Thank You DH is now a happy camper :)
We are now staying at the BC instead of the Studio, since when I re-booked in October instead of September there was no availablity for a studio, so it seems all worked out for the best

Can anybody tell me about the gv club level rooms. What should I request. This would be at the yc.

Since we will be entering Epcot through the International Gateway, will we be able to get our ticket vouchers turned into actual tickets? We bought the Fl Res Wild 4 days pass and have to redeem it at Guest Relations.

Wonders10, I know Teena already answered your question, but I just wanted to add that the International Gateway Guest Relations is the best! Usually no line, very helpful and knowledgeable CMs, uncrowded, etc. Last year, we redeemed Give A Day vouchers, upgraded to APs, bought an additional AP for our youngest, purchased TIW card - all at that Guest Relations window. Also needed to replace demagnatized APs in July and it was a breeze. That window is another great benefit of staying in the Epcot resort area. :)

I want to stay at the YC CL so we can enjoy SAB and have a full balcony.

I'll be lurking and reading the posts, getting to know all of you, and once I can start making reservations, maybe I'll have more questions and posts and you can get to know me too.

Can't wait to get to the reservation stage!

Welcome, Janet! :wizard:

Would you reccommend there to upgrade my 10 park hoppers to an AP? I intend to do that before I leave, but the thought of using the guest relations at the front Epcot entrance had me thinking I'd just wait for a Magic Kingdom day.

I was thinking of possibly doing the same thing regarding the AP (how i wish i did that last year when we went in august, since we are going in july this year, but last year we didn't think we would be back until 2012). anyway, without an AP and not neing able to check the AP website, where is the best place to find out about AP room discounts that come out. does mousesavers post them in their newsletters?

positive thoughts to everyone facing health difficulties either for themselves or members in their families!

Kelly

Hi Kelly!

You can call WDW reservations and ask for the AP rate for your dates (I'd check your dates using my account, but our APs just expired.) :( I also receive updates from mousemisers.com, and they sometimes list sample AP rates so you can get an idea. We booked four trips during the "life" of our APs (originally planned two, and it turned into four - that's the danger of the AP!) We used the AP room only discount a lot, and saved up to 42% off rack rates!

P.S. We also loved the Tables in Wonderland card - bought it with our APs and we saved a ton.

If you want to upgrade to an AP, the International Gateway Guest Relations is a great place to do it! If you know you're going to upgrade to an AP, I'd suggest doing that as soon as possible after you arrive.

Two reasons: 1) You'll receive a 10% discount in nearly all the stores with a regular AP and a 20% discount with the Premium or Premier! (Although I should add that last year, the IG Guest Relations could not issue a Premier Pass - WDW/DL - I had to go to the front entrance of Epcot to get my Premier Pass.) 2) If you decide to get a TIW card, you'll want to buy it and start using it right away!

After trying to figure out where to stay, AKL, BCV or BC, and asking about king beds, we are going to book BC for August, and who knows maybe we will luck out and get a king as in the past.:)
Standard view & Garden view are not available for our dates on the end of summer rates, so now either water view or splurge for club level? We have never done cl before, but for $282 for the week to upgrade, we just might.

Not lots but if you have both rooms on the same reservation and it is listed as a request, you have a good chance of getting one.

Thanks very much for the advice Teena! I really appreciate it. I'm getting sooooo excited for our upcoming trip :goodvibes

This is a great idea! Thank you! I will try this out in 15 days!!!
