It's nice ... they pipe in the music at the beach too.

Oooh! Music!
What Kind of music??
Is it the Steel drum music or is it "Who wears short shorts"?

~Marlton Mom
(who is definitely NOT wearing Short Shorts!)

I like the idea of taking a taxi back to BC afterwards too

They pipe in the music that is played at MK during wishes so you not only see the fireworks, but hear the music that the fireworks are synced with!

There are eight rooms on the fifth floor that do not have full balconies. They are pretty evenly distributed. However, a deluxe room even without a full balcony would give you tons more room than a regular CL room on the fifth floor. I would definitely not even hesitate if I had 3 teenagers coming along ... a deluxe room (even if you get one without a full balcony) would be your best bet! Robyn, do you agree? You've spent time in deluxe rooms and regular club level rooms.

I loved the deluxe cl room. We stay for a long time so the price difference does add up but if we could get another deal as good as the 7/4 I would grab the deluxe room in a second! We had a lot more space and we loved our deluxe cl room. It's funny because we had our heart set on a different deluxe room (3691) and ended up LOVING the first floor deluxe cl room.

I'm going to become a closer follower of this thread now!

We were planning our next trip for 2013, but decided today that we should aim to be at the Yacht Club for March break next year instead. (Yeah!)

The challenge is that both my husband and I are unemployed right now. I'm interviewing with three different companies right now, so as soon as I can turn one of them into a job offer we can book our trip. So, think happy thoughts so that I can land a job and we can plan our trip.

We first went to Disney in 2004 and stayed at WL. That was to be our one and only trip to Disney with our son, who was 7 years old. Then three years later, in 2007 we decided to go again (to celebrate a new job that I was starting) and stayed WL CL. Again, this was to be our last trip. Then in 2010, we decided to go again and since WL CL was booked, we went to the CR CL (wonderful).

For the 2010 trip we decided to eat many meals at the different resorts to add some variety to our trip. When we arrived at the Boardwalk for one of our meals we all fell in love with the area. Instead of saying "IF" we come back, we all looked at each other and said "The next time we come back, we are staying on the Boardwalk!".

So, since we tend to go every three years, we planned to take our next trip in 2013. Well not surprising to any of you, we cannot wait until 2013, so we will go back in 2012, assuming I can land a new job before we start spending our savings. (think happy thoughts!)

I want to stay at the YC CL so we can enjoy SAB and have a full balcony.

I'll be lurking and reading the posts, getting to know all of you, and once I can start making reservations, maybe I'll have more questions and posts and you can get to know me too.

Can't wait to get to the reservation stage!

Is the BC/YC doat dock up and running again? I saw it was getting refurbed and scheduled to re-open March 14...

We just got back home today :( and as of yesterday evening the BC/YC boat dock was not up and running yet.

Hi,

DH and I would like to book the Sandcastle club one night in September for our two girls so we can have a few hours to enjoy WS and the Boardwalk.

Should I be calling now to book a reservation? Do they just take a CC guarantee?

Thanks!
I'll have to dig through my papers once I unpack because I picked up some info from the Sandcastle Club. They person there said that they do take reservations because that would be the only way to guarantee a spot but that if they have room they will take walk-ins. The night we stopped by there were only two children in there so I don't think it is full all of the time.

Since you are at the Beach Club, I think hoppers are definitely something that you would like to have. Like I said before, if you want to enjoy the resort, you should hit the parks first thing in the morning, then come back and enjoy the resort and SAB and then walk or take the boat to Epcot or HS in the evenings. By DP I think you are referring to the dining plan. If you use it correctly, the dining plan will save you money for sure. That means you use the table service for nice dinners (that normally would cost you at least $40 per person), use the quick service for a super lunch (at somewhere like Sunshine Seasons or Flame Tree BBQ). However, when people use all their table service on character breakfasts, to me it's like tearing up twenty dollar bills. If your family does not want to sit down and have a nice table service dinner every night, then I would not go with the dining plan. Personally, the quick service dining plan I do not think is worth the money. But used properly, the regular dining plan will definitely save you money.

And thanks for the good wishes!

I agree, we use the DDP and check out the menus on Allears.net and go to the more expensive TS, and always order the more expensive items. CS too.
Sunshine Seasons & Flame Tree are favs. Sometimes we switch it up and eat at the Y&Y CS. Livin on the edge
Our one deviation this Aug is we booked LeCellier lunch, since the dinner is now 2TS :sad1:

sorry all , i phrased my question incorrectly !! :( What i meant was does anyone have any advice on how i should split my days in disney . shall i do two days in mk and epcot and one in ak with half a day at dhs . i am there for six nights but get five and a half days .

trvlg with husband and seven year twins, boy and girl for the first time !

Also is the 200 $ extra on park hopper worth it ? the kids can only do that much every day !!

My thoughts are- 2 day MK, 1 1/2 days EP, 1 day AK & 1 day DHS.
I think with children that age, they will enjoy DHS a full day more then 2 full days at Epcot. So I'd do one & a half days at Epcot.

At DHS they have so much for kids, and seeing the shows - Beauty & the Beast, & Voyage of the Little Mermaid, & Indiana Jones takes up time. Go straight to Toy Story at park opening, the lines for this get very long.
And you may want to watch Fantasmic too.

Besides, staying at BC you will be right next to Epcot, so if you get the park hopper, you can stroll over in the evening after dinner.

Love the Dining Plan. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

OK, not that I'm promoting my trip report or anything... :rolleyes1

Here is the post I wrote about watching the fireworks from the beach at the Poly- I (note that it says "I") did this after our dinner at Ohana on our last night at Disney.

It should answer your questions about the experience

A spectacular, solitary finale http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39535262&postcount=421

:thumbsup2 We also find staying at BC/YC the park hopper option really is convenient! Totally agree with you, we just love to stroll over to Epcot for dinner. Even just love the walk around world showcase in the evening.

Is there a Pick-a-pearl kiosk at the Beach Club? If so, is the one in EPCOT preferable or are they both about the same?

Thank You for posting the link to your TR , I am 99% positive now that will be our plan for the night we do 'Ohana, in fact I already checked to see what days of the week and time on 2010 TA Wishes was last year. It has been years since we saw EWP too so that would be a nice bonus if we can time it all right. I mentioned to DH last evening about watching from Poly beach but can not wait to show him your pics :goodvibes

We have used many of the kids clubs over the years (Simbas, Neverland, Sandcastle, Cubs den, and camp dolphin) and we've never been turned away. There never seems to be a huge crowd. Probably the busiest one we've experienced was the Neverland club at the Poly but even they had room for our kids. If you make a reservation they do take a credit card, at least they did when our kids were little. Only one word of warning, we usually had to pull our kids out kicking and screaming. LOL :lmao:

I did some searching on the Transportation Boards about the "Character Breakfast Bus" but did not find it mentioned although I did see it posted that the buses to the parks start running at 6:30am.

I want to do an early ADR at Mk and also Boma, but I am thinking it would be best to just take a taxi to Boma rather than a bus to AK and then a bus to AKL

We also had an early Boma reservation and had no difficulty with the bus transportion. We did use taxis to take our grandsons back to the THV and my daughters used them from THV for dinners. (THV is where we ran into problems, not from the YC.) The taxis were readily available at the YC, several were waiting right there. I'm assuming the same is true for the BC. Perhaps someone who has used them from the BC can provide more info.
Have fun!

Robyn, Thanks for the info. We are strongly considering changing from the GV CL to the deluxe CL. We are there for 9 nights and have to make sure the cost difference is worth it.

Would it be too risky to ask for a first floor room since there is only one? Would a first floor or fully balcony be the best way to make a request? Are the deluxe rooms typically available at the AP rate? Thanks :goodvibes

Yes there is one at the BC, but I highly recommend the one in Japan! They do a really cute 'ceremony' which makes it so much more special. My daughter did this last August. It's best to get there at 11am to avoid the lines.

Okay this stinks. Please please, if anyone is there and knows that it is or will be by Saturday, please share! This is one of the main reasons I switched resorts! Of course, we can walk to Epcot but its nice to know if its hot and we are tired we can do the boat.

Teena can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought almost all the cl rooms have full balconies.

Pixarmom - right there with you on the taxis! We always use Disney transportation for the parks but we've use the taxi for dinner at the Wave, Narcoossee's, California Grill and RFC at DTD. Definitely worth the $20!

To the pp asking about park hoppers. You will definitely love having them when staying at BC. It is so nice to walk over to EPCOT for dinner that makes them worth every penny. Another thought - Annual Passes include park hoppers (and usually a discount on the room). If a good AP rate comes out for your time period it might be worth it to go that way. Good luck!

I was thinking of possibly doing the same thing regarding the AP (how i wish i did that last year when we went in august, since we are going in july this year, but last year we didn't think we would be back until 2012). anyway, without an AP and not neing able to check the AP website, where is the best place to find out about AP room discounts that come out. does mousesavers post them in their newsletters?

positive thoughts to everyone facing health difficulties either for themselves or members in their families!

Kelly
