Glad that you are home and hopefully feeling a lot better. We look forward to meeting you when we visit in May (13-24).

I keep reading that at the BC you are only really guaranteed a room with 2Q and a daybed if you have five in your party.

We will only have four but our AAA travel agent put in the request for a room with 2Q and a daybed. The reason is our 19 yo son is bringing his 18 yo girlfriend. And they WILL NOT be sleeping in the same bed.

Is it okay to call the CL concierge about a week prior to our arrival to ensure our room request is in the system? Will this help/guarantee we get a room with daybed? I read somewhere on another forum that rollaways are practically non-existant at the BC and YC? Is that true?

Positive energy being sent your way .

Aloha

Thanks for the positive energy. I can definitely use it .. especially now as I wait for the pathology results. I didn't sleep well last night even with those killer meds since I'm worried about those results and the possibility of another surgery.

As long as your travel agent has the request on your reservation, there is no need to call the concierge. Even if you call the concierge ahead of time and they note on your reservation you need a daybed, you won't get it if there are families with five guests over the age of 3 coming in at the same time. Please know that if we are crowded, there is a really good chance you will NOT get a daybed ... especially upstairs on club level. But you are definitely wrong about the number of rollaways ... there are plenty of them. However, especially up on club level, there are quite a few rooms that do not have room for a rollaway because of the room layout. The rooms at the BC are pretty much all different unfortunately.

I think if I were in your position, I'd consider switching to a deluxe room. They are concierge rooms but not on the fifth floor but of course your key gives your fifth floor access. They are much larger than a regular club level room and you are guaranteed a daybed. There are only six of these rooms but they all have daybeds in them. If that's not a possibility for you, then what you want to do is this: Do not do an online check-in. When you get to the check-in desk, tell them you requested a daybed. If you don't have one, tell them because of the girlfriend, etc. you really must have one and could they please switch your room to one. If they say there is none available (which is likely), then tell them you need a room that will fit a rollaway and you know for a fact that some of the rooms on the fifth floor are configured such that a rollaway won't fit in one. If they give you a room and say it will fit a rollaway and you get into the room and find it will not work (we have plenty of CMs that are new and haven't been in enough rooms to even know there's a difference in the rooms), go right to the concierge on the fifth floor and tell them a rollaway will NOT fit in that room so you need a room that one will fit in or a room with a daybed. It might take a while but eventually it will get worked out for you.

I just updated the front page guest lists. If you want to be on the list, but you are not there, or if any of your info is incorrect, please post a reply here and I will make the update today.

Gonna be busy the next few days. It is tech week for our community theatre production of Canterbury Tales. It is a Monty Python-style show. Rehearsals tonight and tomorrow. Soft opening on Wed. And on Friday, I make my semi-professional stage debut as "The Cook" who prepares a 30 minute medieval meal. :scared1:

Our dates changed due to air fares , we will now be at BC from Oct 19 to Oct 25............... TIA :)

My favorite time of the year at Y&B ... during F&W!!!! So nice to eat or drink your way around the world and walk slowly back to the Y&B!!!!! And I love the concerts too!

Now that my daughter's school isn't a 12 month school, she doesn't get off a few weeks in October and is so bummed she misses the F&W Festival. She told me she'd rather be home for F&W, then Christmas.

Thanks!
I hope Teena's surgery went well!

I'm not one to tell things about myself but when Teena came out and wrote that it was more of a educational(so people would check/re-check) it really hit home. She is right and if you tell people what your going through it may hit home for them and save/help them...Just wanted to say Thanks Teena!!!!

Biopsy went good a little painful...expected it but i could feel a little when they cut and put the needle in. Other than that it was fine...waiting for Tuesday.

Hope you are feeling well Teena!:grouphug::grouphug:

Prayers & good wishes to you. Thanks for sharing with us. I hope you will have good news Tuesday. :goodvibes

Teena, hope you're feeling better soon! Thanks for staying in touch with your fans on the Dis. I wish you a quick & complete recovery. :flower3:

Will be our first time attending the F&W Festival and so looking forward to it and I do agree about the walk back from Epcot to the resorts, the year we stayed at YC that was one of the best memories from the trip :)

Teena - sending good thoughts and hope you are feeling better.

doccoc2002 - sending good thoughts your way too!

natebenma - good luck and break a leg (I shouldn't even JOKE about that!)

Wanted to add something else to my "story". Just started receiving the insurance company's statements of what they paid. I assumed the Mayo Clinic would be significantly higher in price for their mammos, MRI's, ultrasound, etc. Nope!!! They charged about one-third less than Orlando Health (South Lake Hospital) and their doctors. Unbelievable! Superior service plus their charges are sooooo much less. Bob is walking around like a proud rooster ... chest is out ... so funny! He doesn't hesitate to tell everybody he made me go to the Mayo Clinic!

Welcome home Teena! Fingers crossed for a clean report! :wizard: (and :rotfl: at Bob).

And thanks to everyone who continues to post about these resorts. I have learned SO much just by quietly following along :flower3:

My husband and I are staying at the YC club level for our 3rd anniversary from September 17 - 25th. I think I'm driving him insane as I keep on researching things to do months in advance.

I did have a question, though, or rather an opinion. We are planning on having a spa day, heading to the GF for most of the monring, then relaxing by the pool the remainder of the day and avoiding the parks altogether.

I was considering just making reservations at the Steakhouse at the YC, but someone also recommended Jiko. My question is this - is it worth leaving the resort on a relaxing day to do dinner at AKL, or is the Steakhouse on site just as good?

Thanks so much!

Jenneth

We love, love, love Jiko!!! I like YSH too, but Jiko is a much different atmosphere (quieter, slightly more romantic). Is there a way to do both?

I second all of this, and I'm quoting Robyn because I love her positive spirit after all that happened last summer! Hugs to you - we're thinking of your family, too.

Teena,

First off, I've read your story over the past month or so, and hope you are recovering quickly. I had the same insurance experience (diagnosed NHL in 2001, "all clear Oct 2012 ) where I thought my treatment at Washington Hospital Center would be much more expensive than that of my local hospital. Not at all, it was almost half the cost. I think it may be because the hospitals that specialize are more likely to spread out the cost between patients. Either was, it was a nice thing to see!

If I can share just a little bit about my experience, it would be this: the waiting is the worst part of all. All the treatment I went though paled in comparison to the days not knowing. I pray you get your answers quickly.

Jenneth

I like the "both" response from cinderumbrella! We're doing a pre-cruise and post-cruise non-park stay in August and the "non-park" part eliminates all my favorite World Showcase ADR options. We wanted to try some new places, so Yachtsman was first on our list. Then we added two nights to our stay and made ADRs for Jiko and Flying Fish. I'm guessing it will be hard to compare these - they seem so different. I really like the menu at Jiko, so I have high hopes. So at the end of August, I can share our thoughts, but that's a bit late for your ADR planning!

pixarmom- Flying Fish may very well be my family's "new favorite" :thumbsup2 We tried it in November for the first time since our honeymoon MANY moons ago and loved it!!!!

Sadly, my upcoming trip is a Mommy and me trip, so we are skipping all the siggie dinners (except Le Cellier since the bday boy specifically requested that one for his actual birthday dinner).

We really could do both, I feel that might be getting into the "overplanning aspect, though". We have the following on our list for the concierge to book next Monday:

San Angel Inn
Le Cellier
Victoria and Alberts
Bistro de Paris
O'hana

Perhaps I should make the ADR for Jiko and just request the CL find a table for us on one of our free nights since we are staying at the YC? I know that might be a gamble, but if I plan dinner every night we're there he might strangle me.... or at least cut me off from Disney websites. :goodvibes

Sadly, it is very important for ADR's each day, especially at dinner time. It is very tough to find walk up availability any more, especially at the popular places, unless you are willing to eat dinner at 4:30 pm. I know the CL staff used to have great pull in "finding" tables, but I believe that changed with the advent of the new dining reservation system.

Now, as for your anniversary dinner, there is NOTHING wrong with YSH and staying on site that evening (I totally get it!). Its just that Jiko is so fabulous & unique that I would hate for you to miss it. Perhaps that one can be made another night?

If you do decide to go to Jiko, if you do not have a car, I would recommend taking a taxi, rather than relying on WDW transporation to get there. Resort to resort transporation takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R and is the best way to "ruin" a relaxing meal.

We were warned about the transportation by the Spa when I booked our escape. I think we'll be utilizing that method for any dinner that isn't in Epcot.

Thank you for your advice as well. Now I'm a bit worried that I should just go ahead and make those reservations each night to be safe. We also didn't make any ADR for lunch, mainly because I worry that I'd be planning my whole day around it. I think I'll take your advice and make the ADR for YSH that day, and perhaps Jiko on Friday or Monday, the only two days we don't have reservations.

For our actual anniversary, we are hoping to get into the Queen Victoria room as V&A, which I am so excited for.

Do you have any other recommendations that I might be missing?

Want to throw my thoughts in on this, I would do JIKO with a cab to and from (only $15 each way). Love Yachtsman but totally different atmosphere at JIKO.

Second, you need to have ADRs for dinner. Don't let someone else choose where you are going. CL can make the reservations but you need to tell them where and when. Also, make sure you do Yachtsman, that way you will see you made the right decision to go to JIKO. I also enjoy Flying Fish but if you have park passes, you need to hit some of the great restaurants in Epcot

You might have more flexibility in getting walk up lunch ADR's, but are you going during one of the free dining promotions? While the parks might not be as crowded in September, the TS restaurants are PACKED!

Some lunch places that we like- The Plaza at MK, Rose & Crown Dining Room, San Angel Inn & Chefs de France in EPCOT, Sci Fi & 50's Prime Time in DHS (both for atmosphere only, the food is average), and sadly, we don't care for much at AK (Yak & Yeti is OK in a pinch). DTD- we like Earl of Sandwich (CS place). Lunch at the resorts- we like Kona at the Poly & B&C at the YC/BC.

HTH!
