2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

First, a garden view won't look at the lake or a pool. A garden view will be courtyard, woods or garden only. By listing "balcony", I assume you mean you want a full balcony instead of a standing balcony. You mentioned you don't want to overlook SAB ... a garden view room will not overlook SAB.

If I were you and you want a full balcony, that's all I would request ... just put "full balcony requested" on your reservation. Your request above isn't good because (a) you can't get the top floor because that's club level, (b) you won't get lake view because you booked a garden view and (c) by just saying balcony ... all the rooms have balconies or patios although some of the balconies are standing only so you aren't really requesting a full balcony.

Glad you are staying with us!

Yikes! Sorry. I meant to say that we had booked "Water or Pool View" -- *smacks forehead* Going to go back and edit my first post. See how excited I am? :goodvibes I had looked at so many options before we booked, my brain got a bit fried.

Thanks for the clarification on the balcony types... and where the CL rooms are located. I'll definitely put in for a full balcony and keep my fingers crossed.

Pain is better today but I'm still so wiped out. I'm sleeping all the time. Guess my body needs it.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a positive result on the pathology so I don't have to go through it all over again!

Glad to hear you're recovering :thumbsup2. Fingers crossed for good path results.

I just saw a post from someone (on the Resort Board) who is checking out tomorrow from BC , and has some left over bottled drinks, & food he want to leave someone if you want it.

Reservation info:
BCV -husband, daughter 33, myself - 1br villa :cool1: :tigger: :woohoo:
S/D - son, dil, gds 2.5/1 pirate: ::MinnieMo princess: :littleangel:
6/9 -6/15 room only

My dil is attending a conference 6/12 - 6/15

We are hoping to allow ds & dil some alone time...basically allowing the girls to spend a few nights with us...not sure which...will go with the flow.

My questions.. do I have to add them to our reservation? Does the villa automatically come with a pack n play? what about a high chair? We have booster seat for older gd- can always bring one from home (we live about hour and half away - they are coming from Texas)

Also another son might come up for a few days (he won't be sure till almost time to come) :scared1:

Husband might only be there for 3 days...he is an elementary :teacher: and might be teaching summer school starting the 13th.

Do I go to lobby to add son and/or remove husband?

Thanks for any insight!

A one bedroom villa allows four people to be registered in it and receive keys. A key showing you are staying at the BCV is needed to gain access to SAB and to use extra magic hours at the parks. Each person must have their own key to show to get into SAB. One person can't show a key and say "the rest of these people are with me." That worked in the past, but not now. You cannot sleep more than four people in a one bedroom villa. Make sure four people are registered now before you check in. Once there are four people there, if one leaves and another one comes, you can change that person's name on the reservation. However, they will not allow more than four people at one time in the room.

Teena,
The grandkids are both under 3 so they should be ok. I would add the older one to the reservation to be safe. The 1 bedroom villas are 4 + 1 under age 3. We stayed there last summer in a 1 bedroom with 3 kids since Zachary was only 2. He didn't have - or need - a room key to use SAB. I think there
were pack n plays in the villa but we asked for (and received) a "real" crib.

natebenma, I don't want to get off-topic, but I noticed you recently went to the Barcelo Maya and just wanted to let you know we've been there twice and loved it both times! The first time, my DD was only 4 months.

First things first...Teena I am not a "regular" poster but I am one of the top "lurkers"...I read this thread almost every day. I am so appreciative that you took the time to reply to me. I have read about your challenge and how strong, brave and honest you are being. You are truly an inspiration to us all!!

Now - thank you also Amanda...I thought the same thing...my concern is can they be registered at both resorts (the babies) at the same time...we will not be taking them into SAB..just the quiet pool.

So let me get this straight...if I know ahead of time that DH is only going to be there the first 3 days should I call ahead or just wait till I get to resort to have him removed from the rest of the stay?

Can I add the girls on the day they end up staying with us? Will the villa have a pack n play even though our original reservation doesn't have them on it?

This was our second trip there. We went last February, too. Great resort with lots to do! As you can see, I actually have short installments of my trip report devoted to our trip this year.

Yep, kids under 3 don't count and don't have to show keys for SAB.

With the new reservation system (started in December), it is very difficult to add someone to the reservation AFTER you check in. It's easy to change names though. In other words, since it allows 4 people ages 3 and over on the reservation, have them on there BEFORE you check in. Then you can change the names whenever and however many times you want. But if you check in with just 3 people ages 3 and over on the reservation and later try to add a fourth person (age 3 and over), it becomes a nightmare thanks to the new reservation system. Honestly, you don't even have to put the kids ages 2 and under on the reservation since they don't need a key for anything at all.
Hope I explained that okay. Things have changed with the new reservation system and what use to be a simple 2 minute edit on the reservation can now take 2 hours.

Hi everyone,

We've never stayed at the Beach Club, so I have a couple questions.

1. We are requesting a pack n' play/crib for the room for dd. Is it really a pack n' play or more like a crib?

2. And where in our garden view room w/ 2 queens and a day bed will be a good place to put this pack n' play/crib? I've looked at many room pictures and I don't really see a good place for it. I guess if it would fit between the two beds, then that would work okay.

3. I read somewhere that you can request a microwave for the room. Do they bring you one or try to put you in a room with one already? Should I wait until we are there to request one?

Thanks for any help!!

How many people ages 3 and above are on your reservation? Only people with five guests ages 3 and above are guaranteed a room with a daybed.

Unfortunately, at the BC, the rooms are all configured differently. Some are larger than others, some have chests of drawers in them, some have chairs, etc. If your room doesn't fit a pack n play or crib (you can request either one), then go back down to the front desk and ask to be moved to another room that may fit one better. Yes, there are a few microwaves that can be sent to the room. When you check in, just tell the CM that you would like one sent to your room. You need to wait until you check-in to request one since they need to know what room you are in before sending it to your room.

TeenaS

Glad that you are home and hopefully feeling a lot better. We look forward to meeting you when we visit in May (13-24).

I keep reading that at the BC you are only really guaranteed a room with 2Q and a daybed if you have five in your party.

We will only have four but our AAA travel agent put in the request for a room with 2Q and a daybed. The reason is our 19 yo son is bringing his 18 yo girlfriend. And they WILL NOT be sleeping in the same bed.

Is it okay to call the CL concierge about a week prior to our arrival to ensure our room request is in the system? Will this help/guarantee we get a room with daybed? I read somewhere on another forum that rollaways are practically non-existant at the BC and YC? Is that true?

Positive energy being sent your way .

Aloha

Hey Teena- Sending best wishes for a really positive pathology report. Please continue to rest and take it easy if you can!

Dee

I just updated the front page guest lists. If you want to be on the list, but you are not there, or if any of your info is incorrect, please post a reply here and I will make the update today.

Gonna be busy the next few days. It is tech week for our community theatre production of Canterbury Tales. It is a Monty Python-style show. Rehearsals tonight and tomorrow. Soft opening on Wed. And on Friday, I make my semi-professional stage debut as "The Cook" who prepares a 30 minute medieval meal. :scared1:
