I think the BC Club Level offerings are great!

We are there for over two weeks and only made 3 breakfast reservations - the rest of the time we used the CL lounge and were very happy with them.

Last year was the first year that we skipped using the DDP because my two girls were now Disney "adults". We used the TIW card and they ordered kids meals at most restaurants without any problem.

Although we don't use the evening appetizers as a substitute for dinner there were a few times that we filled up on the appetizers (they were sooo good!) and ended up just eating at Hurricane Hannah's or Beaches and Cream later on in the evening.

I will second all of this! We absolutely loved CL. Our boys are ages pre-school to pre-teen and we used the lounge far more than we expected. We haven't done the dining plan since our oldest became a "Disney adult." One of our pre-teens orders exclusively from the children's menus and our other pre-teen orders salads, soups and appetizers. I do the same, or share an entree with our oldest. So the dining plan doesn't make sense for us either, but TIW is great! Our APs expire next week and TIW expires next month - I'll really miss our TIW card in August.

Our boys (who have very different tastes) all loved the CL breakfast so much that they asked to cancel our Cape May breakfast on the last day. So we ended up with two breakfast ADRs for the week - Tusker House and Ohana (love them both.)

We did enjoy the evening appetizers frequently and they carried everyone over quite well until our ADRs in Epcot (that's usually our evening routine.) We always kept our dinner ADRs, but everyone ate a bit lighter at dinner.

So I was trying to figure out why we see negative posts on other threads about BC CL, and the best I can guess is that it doesn't have high ceilings and/or views of water. I can understand that, but the food offerings seem to be similar to what I've read about CL in other resorts and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the BC CL lounge. We ate our afternoon snacks and breakfast right there - the only snacks we took back to the room were desserts.

DWDude, they do have beer and wine. Last month, it was a merlot, a pinot noir and two whites along with a few different kinds of beer in the cooler. Some of the appetizers would remain the same each night (veggies and dip, certain crackers, certain cheeses, peanut butter and rolls, apples and caramel dip, etc.) and others would rotate (the 2-3 hot appetizers, the mini salads, olives, etc.) That worked out well for us because the kids always knew certain favorites would be there, but they could try new items too.

We're home after a LONG day of appointments ... starting at 6:45 AM and we got done at 4:10 PM ... didn't even have time for a soda or lunch. Since I'm so smart, I had water and crackers in my bag ... Bob demolished them.

Everything went good and I'm scheduled for surgery on 3/10. We'll go up early that day, leaving the house around 5:30 AM. We'll have to spend the night there but will be able to come home the following morning if all goes as planned.

That Mayo Clinic is amazing. I'm feeling very confident they will help me through this little bump in the road (as my surgeon there calls it). As of now, I'll start radiation about a month later locally for about six weeks, five times a week. She (my doctor) said the only side effects are tiredness and some burning (like sunburn). I will probably also have to be on that cancer drug for five years which will make me have hot flashes again ... thought I was done with them (darn it).

Thank you all for all your well wishes. It really really helped! And I know you'll help me through the rest of this. I really really appreciate it!!!!

And please, if anybody you know gets the news I got after their mammogram, please please make sure they go to a breast specialist and not a general surgeon, and also, go to a place like the Mayo that has a huge section of the hospital devoted just to breast cancer. There are plenty of great breast places out there. Don't make the mistake I did and go through what I went through for the first two months!!!! Learn by my mistake!

I am so glad that everything is working out for you Teena, and that you have found a supportive place to continue with your treatment! :goodvibes I wish you success and speedy recovery.

I just turned 41, and personally, I am beginning to worry about the whole process of getting a mamogram....I really ,really don't like invasive tests and I have a very low threshold for pain. I am very anxious when it comes to new things and medical tests scare the bejeesies out of me.....I have been throwing around in my head that I bet my time for a mammogram is coming.....yet, I am trying to just think of ways I can get out of having to go through it! YES, I know it can be a life-saving test, and logically I KNOW I should not even question it.....but I am just scared, scared, scared. I wish I could just have it done ultrasonically, no smashing the twins between two plates flat as a pancake!! I don't know.....I don't like procedures at all, they really send my mind into overdrive....I need to be healthy so I can get myself through my 50's, 60's, and perhaps even 70's without outside medical intervention!!! Yes, I am a hospital-phobic..... :scared1: I pray nothing serious happens to me, as I would be the WORST trauma patient ever!!
You are so brave.... Keep up the positive spirit, it is so refreshing! :goodvibes

I'll tack on our experience with Club Level- the breakfast is really the winner for us. A really great variety (super yummy oatmeal, cereal, hardboiled eggs, different Danish every day). Every morning we would show up at 7 am, grab a quick breakfast and we made EMH rope drop at every park (using Disney transportation).

The breakfast would hold us over until an early lunch- 11 or 11:30. We would be ahead of the crowds at the restaurants.

We had dining reservations every night- we stopped in many nights for a couple of nibbles at appetizer time. One night, as we were on our way to dinner at the Cape May, they had cups of lobster salad. It was FANTASTIC! And I am a lifelong New Englander, so I know whereof I speak!

Somehow, after big meals and snacking at the parks in the evening, my boys still managed to put away a dessert, or two on the way back to our room.

Neither my husband nor I drink very much, but I enjoyed a nice cold ice tea at the end of the night. We did enjoy a drink one afternoon on the balcony during a wicked (bad not good) lightning storm. Remember that one Teena? You were flying back from Vegas that afternoon.

We team CL with the regular Dining Plan- the restaurants at Disney are one of my top attractions! You can take Space Mountain, I'll line up for the Pineapple Macadamia pancakes at Kona or the crab legs at Cape May.

The non-food aspects of Club Level are a bonus too. It is probably nice to have someone help with dining reservations- not me, though- that's my territory! When you stay at Club Level, your purchases in the park are delivered right to your room, not to the Marketplace gift shop. It is nice being waited on by the CMs. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't get that at home!

I'm sorry you are so scared:grouphug: A mammogram is not as horrible as you are thinking it is...the smashing...more like a smoosh and really not painful...the anxiety of doing it is MUCH worse than having it done... be brave you can do it :)

Get yourself in there. Keep thinking of me and what would have happened if I hadn't gotten my yearly mammogram! Tell your doctor how scared you are and get a sedative and have someone drive you there. Yep, it's not fun having the girls made into pancakes but it's over quickly. They make great meds so tell your doctor how you are feeling and get a prescription and go for it! I'll be there in spirit with you!!!!!

Please, please don't let a fear of tests keep you from getting what you need to have done. 16 years ago I had colon cancer - believe me those tests are not fun, but I always tell everyone that the test is nothing compared to a year of chemo! The only reason I even got tests for that at 35 as because my brother died from colon cancer - he was 45 and was never screened until it was too late.

Whether it's a mamogram or colonoscopy these tests can SAVE YOUR LIFE!!!!

You can do it!

We will be at the BC Club level in Dec.
What food did they serve during the evening appetizers?
Did they have beer and wine?

We were thinking about doing the same thing you guys did.

There was always cheese and crackers, vegetables and dip, peanut butter and jelly cups, soft rolls, 2 hot appetizers such as crab ragoons, bacon wrapped scallops, chicken skewers, duck quesedillas, potstickers and a cold salad such as lobster salad, risotto salad, shrimp salad.

There was beer, wine and cordials.

Breakfast was great too! Oatmeal with toppings, bagels, croissants, danish, breads such as banana or cranberry, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea etc, cut up fruit and fresh fruit.

Hope you enjoy BC CL - we liked it so much that once we started staying CL we would have a hard time going back to a non CL room!

I can't wait to try it out.
We had a hard time trying to decide between the Poly, GF and BC but we had such a nice time at the YC on our last trip, we decided to stay in the same area. We love the WS and Epcot.
The food selection sounds really nice at the CL.

I think we'll have to try Cape May for the first time as well. My son love crab legs.

Teena, Sorry to hear about what you have to go through. I'm glad your doctor thinks it's just a bump in the road. I'll keep you in my prayers - especially on the 10th.

I am looking forward to the CL experience there.

Good luck to you Teena.
I pray all this works out for you and yours.
There is a great deal of positive energy out there for you.
:)

Teena - glad things went smoothly at Mayo and that you are in such good hands!! Praying for successful surgery on the 10th.

re:cl - our first cl trip was 2 years ago at BC. We had such a great experience that we stayed cl last year (bwi - but only because we couldn'r get the 40% off on cl at bc) and this year we are trying yc cl (trying to hit the epcot area trifecta ;) )

We have done the regular dining plan with cl. We did have some counter service left (not a lot but a few). We like the experience of the character meals and other table service and between drinks and treats use all the snack credits. The cl is great for breakfast and a snack when taking a break . It definitely is not going to replace a meal but is a good tiding over until the next meal.

We have also used the ipo services for adrs, tours, and party tickets. We have been lucky the last 2 years and gotten everything we wanted with times within 30 minutes of the requested times. I know other people have expressed problems but we have had nothing but stellar service.

I think you made the right choice!
We've stayed at BC, YC, the Poly and the GF and BC is definitely our favorite (with YC close behind).

We love the Cape May Buffet for both dinner and breakfast.

Hi Teena,

Glad to hear you made it through that rough day. I'm sure you did great! Thank you for sharing your experience and helping people to learn from your mistakes. You are in my prayers and I'll continue to follow you in your journey. Get over that bump FAST!!!

Teena Glad to hear you got thru all the tests. Sending you lots of good wishes for your Mar. 10 surgery date. The radiation is pretty painless! I agree with going to a place that specializes in cancer treatment. Here, where I live we are very fortunate to have a wonderful cancer agency, with specialists for everything. :grouphug:

I think Disney really wasn't ready for me to stay at the Beach Club. Ever since I changed my reservation to the Beach Club in January, I have received every pin code that was sent out! So this morning I received the one for free dining. Staying at the Beach Club w/ free dining would have cost $300 more than our reservation now. With a savings of $1000+, we decided to downgrade to Coronado Springs. We've only stayed at Pop before this, so no matter where we stayed it would be a change for us. The thought of an extra $1000 to spend on our vacation just won out over my oh so very strong desire to stay at the Beach Club. We plan on getting married at Disney in 2013 (at the Yacht Club Gazebo non the less) and the Beach Club has our names written all over it!! This thread is great and I will always keep my eye on it. But for now, I have to move on.:sad2:

I am soooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Staying at Beach Club has always been a WISH of mine.
I had to book a standard view room but I don't care. I am going to be thrilled with whatever I get. I'm just so freaking excited to be staying here!
I was booked at the Swan but thanks to a pin code I received yesterday, I was able to switch. Maybe next time, Swan!.. Beach Club here I come!!!
Yippee! Yay!!
