2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

I don't understand what type of balcony you are referring to. We have two: standing and full. If you want to sit on the balcony, then make sure the reservation has the right code on it that the new reservation system reads which says you want a "full balcony". If there are two different types of full balconies (which I'm not aware of or never heard of), it is not specified on the room rack so obviously nobody can tell by the computer system what the balcony is, only that is is "full" or "standing. If there are two different types of full balconies, the only way to know which one it is would be by walking into the room and looking at the balcony. The only thing that the room rack shows is a "full balcony" or "standing balcony". Just like the daybeds... there are two types of them, the new ones (which would comfortably sleep a large adult) and the old one (that will sleep a very very small adult). The only thing the room rack shows us is whether it has a daybed, it doesn't tell us what type of daybed.

As far as faxing the room assignor ... honestly, at our resort, it doesn't change anything. I wouldn't bother.

The most important thing is that the reservation has the right request on it.

There are very very very few rooms with one queen and a daybed. I would not worry about getting one since there are so few of them. When you check in, just say, "do we have two queen beds in the room?" If they should say, "no, there is one queen and a daybed", tell them you really need two queens and be persistent. If the CM doesn't change your room, ask to speak to one of the managers.

Teena, thanks so much for explaining about the balcony & room requests.

I did read a post from someone who said she did get a balcony- I think the Dormer room type on upper floor, where she couldn't see out of if sitting, although it was a full balcony! So I'll leave my request as full balcony and forget about faxing :goodvibes
:grouphug: best of luck with your tests.

I have read that the kids get snacks....do they get lunch also? TIA!

When my son did it last they had goldfish crackers and juice. They used to have sandwiches (Smuckers PB&J) but they don't do that anymore or at least they didn't in 2010.

Thank-you! :flower3:

It's good to know what to expect! I'll make sure they have a good breakfast before they leave!

My daughter and I check into BCV on Friday, March 4 for 4 nights then transfer to BLT for the rest of the week.

Have a great time. Only wish I was going there this year.

Hello! Can anyone describe the bus service at the Beach Club?

Bus service is same at BC as other resorts. Can be great if you get there when the bus arrives, can be lousy if there are a lot of other "happy" campers waiting who don't have the Mickey mojo. I believe strongly though that the bus is the better way to go than walking througn Epcot to catch the monorail After fireworks at MK I don't care where you are going, bus service is lousy. Too many people not enough buses. However, as one of our frequent posters likes to do, the idea of leaving MK and then strolling through Epcot on the way back to BC can be something to look forward to as an end of day's activity if you time it right with the fireworks in WS.

Does anyone know the Resort Route for ME? As of now I am allowing 2 hours for the trip from MCO to BCV, is that realistic? TIA

Last December we did ME stopping at POR and POFQ then stopped at BWI before coming over to YC. I think the driver did that just to p--- me off because we were the last two people on the bus. However, it still only took us 1.5 hours from landing to unloading at the resort because we didn't wait too long at the airport. However, there have been times when I've sat in a bus for a half hour at the airport before it finally left so planning a two hour trip is probably a good thing. If you get there earlier, just consider it Disney magic.

Dee, still waiting to hear about Mexico.

Dee, still waiting to hear about Mexico.

Thanks for asking! We had a fantastic time in Mexico! We stayed at a resort called the Barcelo Maya, about an hour south of Cancun. Huge resort, 5 separate hotels, 3 different beaches- for snorkeling, wave jumping and swimming. We stayed there last February and it was VERY COLD (like everywhere last winter), but this year temps were in the mid-eighties and only a couple of episodes of rain.

We did two excusions- we toured the Coba ruins and climbed the 138 foot-tall tower. Ben ignored the advice not to look down while climbing and experienced a panic attack on the way up. Truth be told, I did too! We stayed at the summit for about 30 seconds, then made our way back down.

We also visited Xplor, which has about 20 ziplines, amphibious vehicles you drive through caves, and rafting and swimming routes through a cenote (water filled cavern).

Thank goodness for the teen activities at the resort. Our 12 year old wants very little to do with the family at this time, so he spent most of the days at the resort playing volleyball, water polo, basketball, mini golf, soccer etc. with others of his kind.

I've uploaded most of my pictures- hopefully in a day or two I will have time to post some on my trip report- I'll give a heads up when I do that!

I'm going to try to update the front page guest lists this morning before I have to head to the middle school.

C'mon there's got to be more than just 2 of us! It's Spring Break time!!!!

:daisy:Who's Going in April????:daisy:

elliefusmom - April 1 - 10 BCV
fterie4u - April 5-April 10 BC (Daughter's 5th birthday!)

I checked your trip report yesterday for updates - was looking for some pictures of warmth and fun. :) So happy to hear about all the fun and the good weather! We were thinking of you in the sunshine last week! Excited to see the photos!

I'm sorry Sue. I think that was me who might have misinformed you. I was going according to what DD told me because I couldn't remember, but I just looked back at a picture I took of the room where I can see the balcony, and you definitely can see out even if you're sitting. The first maybe 2-3 feet are solid wood and then above that is railing. Hope that helps and makes you feel a little better about seeing out. I can't swear that all rooms are that way, but ours definitely was.

Funny how we can get so worked up about a balcony. This last trip, we spent the first four nights at AKL and actually asked to change rooms because of a couple items, but the balcony was one of them. On all previous trips, the balcony was similar to how I described the BC balcony with a railing. The balcony we had in our original room at AKL this time was solid with a lot of metal. Just not very attractive if you really wanted to spend some time just enjoying the warm Florida sunshine.

Again, sorry for the confusion about the BC.

I think it's the Grand Floridian that has the dormer balconies that you can't see out unless you stand up and go to the edge. I could be wrong, though.

Hey all!

Quick question: do you know if the alarm clock radios in the Beach Club rooms have Ipod docks in them? Seems to me that they did at the Poly last year, but I was not sure if the Beach Club rooms have them as well.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I am pretty sure they are the ones with ipod docks. I seem to remember that being on the disneyworld webpage.

My son has done the cruise twice - the first time there were 2 kids and 2 cast members. The second time there were about 10 kids & 2 cast members.

The pontoon travels all over crescent lake and they get off the boat looking for clues and treasure. They chase a pirate on a sea ray around the lake too & have lunch Near the albatross... My son loves that cruise!!

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info...I was going to post the same question.
