Sorry I'll miss you this year. Wasn't the BC/YC Dis Meet great?

I can't wait to hear all about your Illuminations Dessert Party and the Grand 1 Wishes Cruise (la de da!!!).

Do you mind me asking how much the Illuminations Dessert Party cost?

Congratulations to your DS on his college graduation! I'm 4 down - 3 to go!

I have one graduating from Law School in May and then I can breathe a sigh of relief for a few years.

PixarMom - thanks so much (in advance) for getting the BC Marketplace pictures for me. That will really help me in getting the gift baskets together!
I always have them put in a $20 arcade card and $20 Disney dollars and it's nice to be able to know what kind of snacks I should request.

HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!!!!!

Hi Robyn,
Good to hear from you.

We're going above the minimums for the Illuminations Dessert Party because we're having an action station where they will deep fry snickers and 3 musketeers bars plus have a nitro freeze station for "Captains' Grogs". We're also having a full bar.......(5) 23 year old college graduates celebrating plus decorations. It's going to end up being somewhere between $1000 to $1500 for every thing. Not bad considering we're celebrating.

Sorry we'll miss you this year too. This is our first time in May. We're usually the July-August group but my son wanted to do it the week after graduation.

Have fun and have a Sunken Treasure for me!

Yeah, I look forward to this thread. You guys are so nice and very funny! I had kinda thought maybe of going back down to a MOD since the new reservations are at rack rate (value season, but rack rate) but I don't want to leave THIS thread. So I'll just keep them and hope (hopehopehope) for a Fall Room only discount. LOL Besides by September I can easily double my budget for rooms if one doesn't come out. I refuse to give up my spot as a YC/BC'er.

Bookgirl- Just confused, you mentioned in your post you resheduled for September (value season) but are paying rack rate and hopeing for a Fall Room only discount.

The public offer that is out there now 35% off at BC 40% off at BC Villas is good from August 14 thru October 1.

Just thought if you did not know about the current offer out there you could call back and maybe save some money. :goodvibes

Each year it is different as to when the decorations go up. The Y&B has no say in it. It's totally done by the holiday department. Sometimes it is done by the 8th or 9th of November, sometimes not until the 20th. You never know. We were on the late side this past year.

Well I can only hope that they'll be up before I leave. Well at least I got to see them in Dec.

hmmm, I was talking to a rep,,,,yeah I should know better than to trust a rep LOL. I was in no state yesterday to make a good decision, think I'll go look at the site. Thanks for the heads up.

ETA: Okay nothing available on the public discount for any dates in September. It's not F&W time but I know there are lots of people who go in Sept. I may not be able to get the discount at all, though I'll keep looking and maybe a cancelation will come up. It's probably free dining that's catching me.

Your quite welcome. To check availability for your dates just click on the "special offers " I do understand when you say you were in no state, back when I had to cancel our trip last Fall I did not even think to reschedule, then dummy me had to wait for the $ to be refunded to my account so I could re-book.

Well I have some big news! I talked my foster Sister, her husband and 15 y.o. son into coming to the Beach Club with us!

My son and her son are like 2 peas in a pod so they are over the moon about being there together. The two boys LOVE Star Wars and swimming so they are in for quite a treat.

My sister and her family won't be able to come down until the day after us and they are checking out on the 17th but we are going to have a BLAST regardless. We've booked identical packages, Garden View, Ground floor with deluxe dining and we've requested connecting rooms. She is not as Disney Savvy as I am so I'm making sure she has all her ducks in a row with the booking of ADR's and such.

All of us are so excited!! I don't know how I'm going to get to sleep tonight!!! :cloud9:

We need to add the Hanigan-Levy Family to the June Beach Club list from June 11th until the 17th. We'll be the ones sipping on the "Sunken Treasure's" poolside while our two boys wear OUT the bottoms of their bathing suits sliding down the Flying Jib slide!

Woo Hoo!!! :yay:

Make sure both the reservations are linked as a "travel with" and make sure both reservations have the request "ground floor". Just remember, although we try really hard, a request is not guaranteed so there's a chance you won't get the ground floor or connecting rooms.

This is a great thread!!!! We will be at BCV 6/7 to 6/15- it will be our first stay there, and there is such great info here!!! Thanks!!!!

Hi,
My family and I are so excited we are staying at the Beach Club Villas for the first time this March! We are very interested in the boat rentals, more specifically the Montauks. Does anybody know about the pricing? Do we get a discount or 1/2 free since were staying at the Beach? We've previously rented a racer in downtown disney and since then my fiance seems to be chanelling his inner tim allen and wants more power. Any information can help thanks!

Hi Teena!

Thanks for the tip! I do remember that requests are never guaranteed and that the room assigners do the best they can with the circumstances they have to work with.

We were on the phone together when we made the reservations. The Cast Member told us that she was linking us together and connecting our reservations as she was entering all the data. I will call back in a couple of days and ask if this is what is coming up with our reservation just to make sure.

The one thing I noticed is that when the reservations Cast Member was describing the room she said that it had 2 queen beds and a daybed. I knew this not to be true but I didn't want to interrupt her because it seemed like she was reading from a description and she was giving us a lot of info at the time. This is basically the same info that I was given when I called reservations to book my vacation so I'm thinking that this is the information on the script that they are reading.

I can see how this might be causing the Cast Members at the Beach Club problems when people check in to their rooms and they don't have a "day bed". Is there any way that this can be brought to the attention of the appropriate personnel and perhaps fixed? I'd be happy to help out in any way I could with this.

On another note, I'd love to take a behind the scenes tour and get a glimpse into the room assigners job. Do they use computer software or is there a "war room" with a big bulletin board and messengers running back and forth with magnetic labels and china markers making changes frantically as people call to request rooms that essentially don't exist (7th floor Sea World View ;) )

When I was in college I used to work in academic advising and we would have to plot out course schedules for students. I used to love doing that because it was like a giant puzzle.

When I was marooned in the laundry mat this last week I was mesmerized by the dryer spinning round and round I would think of just how those poor room assigners at the Beach Club did it. Then again maybe it was the fumes that were making me dizzy.....

So anyway now in addition to my dream job at Disney as a Monorail driver, or Customer Service Representative for people who are Crabby enough to be certifiably EVIL I now will add Beach Club Room Assigner!

I know that this must be in the previous postings but I couldn't find it.

Can someone tell me what is in a "sunken treasure" and is the YC & BC the only place that you can get one?

I had a similar experience when I was making my reservations at BC. I asked if she could make a note that I was requesting a full balcony. It was my one and only request. She got irritated with me and told me that all the rooms at BC have balconies. I didn't want to argue with her, but tried to respectfully tell her that I didn't think that was the case. She told me it was. I asked if she could please put the request in anyway. She was quiet and I heard typing in the back ground and then she told me she had entered the request and also emailed Disney requesting that they update the information in the system IF in fact all rooms do not have full balconies. It was a :scared1: moment for me. Definitely not a great Disney moment. I guess this is why I'm still a little worried about my reservation and not even having a shot at a full balcony! I'm actually contemplating canceling BC and reserving YC for $355 more (all they have left are water/ pool views). Managment at BC should definitely be made aware of these booking issues.

Available at Hurricane Hanna's, the restaurant/bar at Stormalong Bay pool.

Sunken Treasure - Malibu Rum, Midori, orange juice, pineapple juice and Sprite with a splash of BOLS Blue Curacao. Served in a souvenir cup for an additional $2.00 - $7.50

I wish I had a picture to show you!

This was the post from the previous thread.

It was no longer on the menu, but some of the bartenders at Hurricane Hanna's still know how to make it.

I have seen pictures of the drink from other resorts on the "alcoholic beverage" thread . No, I don't have a "problem" it was purely for research purposes- I was trying to find a picture to post.

But, our friend Pixarmom is taking one for the team and as part of her assigned missions next week, she will attempt to photograph and consume said beverage.

I think this was taken in December 2010.

MsCoz2000 posted a bunch of photos in the previous thread (p.187 and 188). This was one of them.

Don't know if there is a discount for resort guests. Or day of bookings if they are slow.

I think I had the same problem with my travel agent when I booked the BC in July 2009- she said all rooms had full balconies, but I ended up learning here that was not the case, so I added the request to my reservation.

Both years I stayed at the BC, a full balcony was my one and only request. My plan, which fortunately I never had to execute, was to ask at checkin if the room had a full balcony, if not, see if something else was available (you all know the drill).

If the answer was STILL no, I was going to see if I could change to the Yacht Club. Teena- any idea what the chances of that working would be? Can a switch to the other resort be made easily, if there is a room available, or would it just be a big ole PITA nightmare for the checkin CMs? Is the booking info even linked between the two resorts?

It's taken them FOREVER to announce but here is the official schedule for Star Wars Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Quote: "Star Wars Weekends 2011 will be held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 20-June 12."

Here is the link to the Disney Parks Blog where this info is posted.
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/02/feel-the-force-at-star-wars-weekends-2011/

I'm posting this info here on the Beach Club/ Yacht Club FAQ thread because we all know That :darth: Darth Vader prefers to reside in the Yacht Club when the Death Star is closed for "rehab". I'm also figuring that the Rebel Alliance :yoda: :ewok: :chewy: would obviously prefer the light and airy Beach Club for their restful respites from battle. ;)

~ May the Force be with you!

Thank you MickeyT!

Hopefully we'll have enough Dissers to do another "Mini Dis Meet" like last year! So far we'll be there to meet all the July Dissers!

Any other July Dissers staying CL? Maybe we'll see you in the lounge.

We'll be CL - but at the YC. Hopefully we will cross paths at SAB!
