Had a meeting with the radiation doctor this afternoon. I start radiation 4/25 so starting 4/24, I'll be working Saturdays and Sundays instead of Sundays and Mondays. This will go on for six weeks.

We will be down at that "Other Lodge" April 30 and May 1st. We will try to get by to say hello! Take care of yourself and enjoy your 'vacation' with the family.

Best of luck, my radiation doctor had a good sense of humor, on his lab coat he wore a pin, the red circle with the line across, saying No Pain
I found a soft stretchy sport type bra that you pull on over the head was comfy, you will be sensitive.

That happened to us!!! Except our vacation was in August, during Tropical Storm Faye and it rained for most of our vacation. And my son was sick, too, for a lot of that trip. My husband declared "We are NEVER going to Disney in the summer again" on the plane ride home. Lo and behold, a few months later the boys were looking at their photo albums and my husband booked the first of our two July trips to the Beach Club!

Fingers crossed for a similar story for you!

We were on a Universal/SeaWorld trip for Tropical Storm Faye. Wans't that special  We had Aquatica tickets too, and thought we'd never get to use them.
In Universal some rides require you to put any purses, etc in lockers, which are operated by finger prints. Everyones fingers were so waterlogged, the lockers wouldn't work :laughing: What a mess :scared1:

*******in order to "see" the picture i'm referring to, click on my link and then just click on the link to the right of the burger that says "see image below at..." and then scroll down to the 2nd or 3rd photo. Voila, the giant industrial mystical toaster.

Thanks for posting the pics of the toaster, I'm one of the ones who wanted to know :goodvibes I pack bagels in our luggage for breakfast.

We were in a family suite at ASMusic. I really liked the layout of the suites but they were putting in a new tile floor in the food court and the day Faye hit they closed off the hallway in that building so you had to walk all the way around the building to get to the bus stop. And it continued to rain for days. I haven't been back to ASMu since. I might try Animation Suites when it opens.

That is horrible! Kind of funny, but horrible!

We were at ASMusic, too! I could NOT believe it when they closed that hallway between the foodcourt and the bus stop forcing everyone to walk outside in the rain!!! Could they not have waited until AFTER a forecasted Tropical Storm to start the work?

Fortunately I have found another home at Disney, so I am no rush to go back to ASMu either!

I will definately call and double check that my resquest for a full balcony is still on my ressie Thanks

I know from personal experience they shed the worst!!! My son leaves sweat shirts, shoes, toys and school stuff EVERYWHERE!

Natebenma and Marlton Mom you guys are cracking me up :rotfl: gotta love a sofa son :lmao:

Just wanted everyone to know to plan on an extra 20 minutes.

We were there last Sunday and it was our DHS day. Touringplans had the resort crowd level at 9 out of 10. I like to be at the gates at least 50 minutes early (we chat, eat our bagels, finish our coffee, call my mother). We left our room about 7:45 and noticed that the boats had not started running which was fine, we walked, nice morning.

What upset me was as we were approaching DHS, we saw all of these people getting off the buses. I don't think it is fair that all of the other resorts start their transportion to the parks before the Epcot resorts. If everyone wants to start at 8 fine but if I had known I would have left even earlier so we could be in the front of the turnstiles. As we were going through bag check I saw the boat pull and was glad I didn't wait.

The offer, not the amazing clock MMom spoke of....:rotfl:

My DH and I spoke about going back to WDW for a short weekend trip this December to see the lights, etc. We'll be down there this September for our anniversary.... would I be able to book a second trip using the bounceback offer in that short of a timeframe? Would it be worth it for me to start looking for deals now?:confused3

Thanks!

It's hard to say whether the bounceback at that time will cover the end of the year. I believe the past few years it has been to book free dining for the following year (in the same time frame).

Unless you get a pin for December, it will be a LONG time before December deals come out to the general public. AP rates for summer aren't even out yet :sad2:

The bounceback that is in the room right now covers dates through 12/31/11 but there are some dates blocked out. It's for I believe 40% off.

I've been reading a lot about the various view categories and room types at BC and YC, but haven't seen much about BCV, where we will be at the end of May, so please forgive yet another "view" question...

The original ressie was handled by a TA, so I really have no idea what kind of room we'll have at BCV beyond the fact that it's a 1-BR villa. I see from the aerial pics that the BCV building is sort of behind the main BC building, closer to the parking lots and away from SAB and the lagoon, so a water view isn't likely, but it would be nice if we could get a villa with an Epcot view - one where we might be able so see the high fireworks from IllumiNations. With the villas in such high demand, is it realistic, or even possible, to have any control over a BCV ressie?

Thanks!

I'd like to hear suggestions too... Hopefully we'll be switching our 1BR BWV reservation to a 1BR at BCV on Friday!! :cool1:

Since the BCV is always 98-100% occupied, getting a room request is usually a 50/50 shot. There are very few one bedroom villas with a view of Epcot. Your best chance is to add "Epcot view requested" to your reservation so that when the computer system assigns your room, it will see your request and if there is a one bedroom villa available with that view during the dates of your stay, you will have a chance of getting it assigned to you.

Don't forget that some of those guests from the other resorts may have had an early ADR for the character breakfast at H&V. Usually breakfast ADRs start at 8 so they would have to leave earlier than 8.

Sorry forgot to quote - this was in response to MaryKate's post about getting to DHS earlier than others.

:rotfl: That's great. I am a big Star Trek fan, love anime, etc. and have the convention tickets and stupid T-shirts to prove it. Most summer days I look like a reject from "The Big Bang Theory". DW hates this stuff too. I was planning on taking a few of those shirts on our WDW trip next month but now I think I'll reconsider! I do have a cool Jessica Rabbit shirt (she's in a bikini top and grass skirt, holding a surfboard) that I definitely will pack, though!
:lmao: Now the Jessica Rabbit shirt I would not mind my husband wearing. Go figure... ;)

When you check-in, make sure you ask if you have a full balcony. If they say no, tell them why it is extremely important and if they can't find one, ask to speak to a manager. Tell the manager why you need one and you would even be willing to downgrade if you could get a full balcony. Then of course if they say one is available, ask for the difference in price. I can't imagine they wouldn't give it to you.
I'm not so sure they can refund money to you. I'm not 100 percent on this, but after final payment and final days/check in, there would be penalties. If they have a room available with which you booked, you will get that as technically, they have provided you with what you chose.

Glad things will be moving along, and your family will be with you prior having fun!

Faye was 2008, right? I think that was the storm we drove down to Kiawah, SC through right before our wedding. Best part of that, though? As soon as we drive onto the island, in the pouring down rain, the following happens:

DH: Can you even see?
Me: Just barely....wait... was that a deer that just ran across the road?
DH: It was! Wow, and... *&^%... was that an alligator that just ran after it?
Me: *slams breaks*

I kid you not, the thing ran across the street nearly on two legs, chasing after the deer. I did not want to get out of the car to go in the front door, and almost slept in the car that night for fear of speedy gonzalagator getting me.
:lmao:
Holy moly!! I have visions of that now, and it's skeeeeeeery!!!

Hi, everyone!

Doing some more planning on our upcoming August Mom/Daughter trip - a fabulous 12-day stay at the BC - and had a quick question...

During August, what would be a "typical" closing time in the evening for Stormalong Bay?

Each afternoon, I have built in some swim time, but I wasn't sure if we'd be able to go swimming at night, as well....

Thanks!

P.S. NateBenMa - I just read your 2010 August TR - you guys had an amazing trip! I LOVED the candid Photopass photos you got with your sons...I don't know if I'll be able to convince my (almost) 12-year old daughter to pose silly like that, but I'm going to try! Loved the report & photos.

Do you know if this is in the villas rooms as well?
Fingers crossed it will be in the villas come May 1. Knowing our luck though there
wont be any by then, heres to hoping
