2011/2012 Entertainment Book card ?

If I book a hotel room getting the entertainment card rate for check-in Dec 2011 with a January 2012 check-out do I need to show a 2011 or a 2012 entertainment card to the front desk at check-in?

My Entertainment card always expires in November every year. I have only been asked once to show it and they never even looked at the date, just wanted to confirm that I had it on me. Once I checked into the Holiday Inn and the lady at the front desk asked me what the card was when I had it out to show her, she said she never saw one before.
