Sorry if this has been answered, but I went back a few pages and could not find anything... When is the pool construction scheduled to be finished? TIA

I've been wondering that myself... hoping someone might post an update about it. We're due to arrive in six weeks. Crossing my fingers they have everything fixed up by then.

I have no idea when it will end. The whole pool was open during it, it was just all chopped up. There was also a medium sized crane or piece of equipment right by YC doing some work over there as well. We sat out on the rockers waiting for our Captain's Grille ADR & it was so loud we had to go inside to wait. It didn't seem like anything major was going on, just maintenance work, so hopefully it will be over soon! I'll be back in 2 weeks & will make it a point to ask.

We did find that we really loved the quiet pools & hot tubs at BCV and BC though! Those were both empty almost all day. Here are some pics of those:

Only one very short sleep away!:banana::banana:

I will be sure to keep my eyes open for Thomas Magnum and the Noodles.

I'll bring back lots of fodder for a trip report.

Well crap, I already had stuff that you would do planned. Well there go those thoughts out the window.

You mean like running nekked through the resort yelling "Mathew, Johnny, Zac, and Barnaby Jones, let me back in the room, it's freezing out here in the hallway!!!!!"?

333disneymom, thanks so much for the encouragement! Over the past two years (March and July in 2010; January, February, May and August in 2011) we've felt like the crowds have been increasing - but maybe our tolerance for crowds is just decreasing! (We were just in DL last week, and it seemed busier than our last visit in the summer!) We'll have APs again next month, so it will be nice to spend mornings in the parks, afternoons at the pool and evenings at Epcot and not feel like we are missing anything!

You're welcome. I hope you have a great vacation!

Thanks. Looking forward to your update. We arrive 4/15 and picked BC over BWI because of the pool. I will be bummed if the pool is still all chopped up but from the look of it, it may be. Would have booked BWI if I had known. Will have fun either way though.

Thanks for the pictures!!! May I use the hot tub pic on the front page? That's the BCV tub, right?

I only have one other hot tub picture (BC, I think).

Gosh, I wish I was at BCV right now! I'm kinda bummed, our big family trip in August will most likely have to be postponed as my sibs and their families are having a hrad time making their schedules work to get us all together.

Oh well, now I have to decide what to do with last years BCV points! One way or the other, I WILL dip my toes in SAB at some point this summer!!!!!!

We have only 5 sleeps left, but I'm officially to the point where I wish it would slow down just a bit. Am I crazy? I mean half the fun is planning, right? I still have a camera book I want to read, touring plans to tweak, and of course, disboard reading to do! Cause once it's over, it's over. Until next time of course, but I really think this might be it for us for a while. DD starts college in the fall and I'm sure some of you know the expenses associated with that. As for the obligatory BC question, as far as the pool. I understand it's "chopped up" at the moment, but it's still open and will be enjoyable, correct?

Edited to add: Forecast is looking GREAT!!!

Good Morning Yacht & Beach Club lovers....hockey season is over & I have a lot to catch up on this thread!

The square hot tub in pic #2 is BCV. The round hot tub in the dark is the BC Quiet Pool hot tub. Of course you may use the pics!

Tara -- Those photos of SAB are depressing. I really hope it's just regular maintenance and not some major issue. I'm still 3 months away, so I'm sure it will be resolved by then. Unlike most people who are sad to be home from their trip, I'm sure you're not because you get to go again in just a couple of weeks. Very jealous! What happened with the handicapped-accessible room?

I can relate to your post. For me, it's not so much that there's no more planning, but I know once the vacation starts, it's that much closer to being over. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I have had too much coffee this morning and as I look over the pool construction pictures, I am more than a little scared.:scared1:

We are the type that are just happy to be in Disney and make the best of every trip. However, this trip is not so much about the parks as it is about the resort and its pool. SAB was the main reason we booked BC.
My DH and DS will be at Spring Training for most of the trip. Me and my DD's are planning to be spending LOTS of time at SAB.
I have showed countless pics to my DD6 and DD13 of SAB. They are so excited.

Any updates will be appreciated on the pool status. We leave in 8 more sleeps!

I have no idea of when the rehab at SAB will be done. However, we do rehab every year and only a third of SAB is closed at a time. And if the large slide is ever closed, we run golf carts for guests to take them over to the slide at BW. To keep a three acre water park pool with sand on the bottom working, scheduled rehab is done yearly. Sometimes they are done early, sometimes on schedule and sometimes later. But in the eight years I've been there, they always have two-thirds of SAB open at all times during rehab.

If you get to Y&B and the rehab of SAB is making you really upset, just go to the front desk and tell them you can't handle it and want to be moved to another resort. If there is availability, they will gladly do that for you.

Every resort and every pool at WDW goes through extensive rehab. It is the only way to keep the resorts and pools beautiful and operating. Unfortunately that means that people will experience a resort with rehab going on. It's really very rare that you don't see something being worked on everywhere you go. How else would WDW be so beautiful all the time?

Even with one third of SAB down, I'll take SAB over any other pool at WDW any day. JMO.

I have to say the HA bathroom didn't work for us at all, but we just dealt with it. As soon as we got in the lobby to check in, I saw Teena & she let me know that the resort was completely sold out, so I knew there was no chance to ask to be moved.

The roll-in shower is very very small - I'm not sure how someone in a wheelchair could even get the chair in there. The bench was down & stuck in that position - which left no room to stand, so it was very awkward to half-sit, half-stand to shower. This meant the small shower curtain wan't tight to the opening & the water sprayed out all over the sink & walls (and any items out there). Because it's a roll-in, the water just runs out into the bathroom (there's a drain in the shower and by the toilet), all over the floor. Ugh! We went through bath towels at an alarming rate!

The fan in the bathroom was on a timer on the wall - it looked like an old fashioned heater timer - you turned the knob & it clicked backwards for the length of time you choose. I had never seen that in a Disney resort before.

There's also absolutely no counter or shelf space in there - and I like to spread my toiletries & costmetics out when getting ready. The sink comes right out of the wall so that a wheelchair could roll up under it. We used the kitchenette area (right across from the bathroom door) as our make-shift bathroom counter area.

The only other thing we noticed outside the bathroom was that the queen bed was very low to the ground, probably for easy transfer from a wheelchair, and the balcony was HUGE.

We did the best we could since we had no choice but if I was assigned to one again for a longer stay, I'd request to be moved. Here are pics of the HA bathroom:

I LOVED the studio & would definitely get it again for just 2 people. The decor was light & bright, and not worn out like I had read somewhere. The room was very clean. The sofa bed was the easiest one I ever had to pull out & put away. Once it pulled out it was already made up. Having the extra large balcony really made it feel super spacious. We kept the balcony door open most of the time so it was like having another room.

I'm SO excited to be going back to BC in TWELVE DAYS!!!! I absolutely loved The Poly, but if I had to choose, I'd pick BC hands down! I feel "at home" in the Epcot Resort Area & BC is so close to Epcot, you just can't beat it. Illuminations is my very favorite thing in WDW, and being able to wak there in less than 5 min. & then back is just pure perfection. We did visit AKL for breakfast at Boma, and I do love it there as well. I'm thinking AKL/Kidani for a fall trip, then back to BC/YC for winter! I need to get tickets for the boys for the next trip - DH usually gets convention rate tickets, but I'm thinking of just getting them APs. Then I HAVE to go back a few times to get my money's worth, right??? That's how it works, correct?!?!? :rotfl: My AP expires tomorrow, does anyone know if they can take care of renewing it for me once I check into CL, or should I just do it online from here? I'll need it to check in I guess since I booked with an AP rate.

I'm sorry I scared everyone with my SAB construction pics - I should have just left well enough alone! It really wasn't terrible - and it was still full & people were enjoying themselves there, I heard no complaints at all. Most of the construction seemed to be more to the YC side if that makes a difference.

Hopefully GinCar will come back with good news!

I'd rather be at SAB with construction than at home any day!

See you soon!!!!! With our new system, sometimes we can do annual passes and sometimes we can't but since Guest Relations is only a short walk away, it's easy to fix if we can't help you at CL. And as far as showing the AP to check in, just show them the old one and tell them you need to renew it and will show them the renewal once you walk over to Guest Relations and get it.
