Have come to our last night at BCV's. Been another great stay. Our whole group finished our marathon races. My feet really hurt tonight but I made it the whole 13.1 miles today. I started the second leg of our relay in MK parking lot and ran (waddled) through AK and DHS before passing by our belove Y&BC. DW had finished the first leg of the relay and returned to the front of BC to cheer me on and that really helped the last mile. Made it to the front of EPCOT for the finish.

For our reward we all had Cape May for supper tonight. Ate too much again. Any weight advantage that may have been gained by walking 13.1 miles was easily negated at our seafood pig out. We did EMH at MK tonight so I pretty whipped right now. Took quite a few pictures while I was here so will try to post a few when I get home and settled. So better get some sleep for our travel day tomorrow. Till later.....

Congrats Mike to you and your family completing the marathon :cheer2::banana:!! Safe travels home! Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Congrats on the big finish! I hope to participate in a Disney run/walk at some point in my life. I respect anyone who can finish because I'm sure it's not easy.

Sure, I have added you to the Be Our Guest list for your dates and to the noodle swap for March 1-10. Can you try to get in touch with polynor, who signed up for the noodles on March 10, to see if you two want to arrange a meet or if you just want to return them to Bell Services on March 9 or early March 10. If you don't connect with polynor, then just return them to Bell Services.

We look forward to hearing from in the next couple of months, too!

Thanks so much - I sent a PM to polynor to arrange the swap so all should be covered there.

Absolutely love all the detail and pics in this thread. My kids were disappointed that we aren't staying at the Poly this time until they started looking through all the pics of BC and SAB. Now they are completely on board and super excited!

I currently have us booked into a GV room but have been debating upgrading to a water view. Do you think its worth the extra money? Or would we be just as happy with a a GV room? If we do upgrade, is there any particular requests I should put in?

Congratulations and WAY TO GO!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I always think the dining plan takes a huge hit during these race things. People are loading up both before AND after. I'm sure the pantry is bare in kitchen's all across Disney World when the thundering herds leave.

I hope your tootsies feel better real soon!

That is a very personalized question- it kind of depends what your family is like.

What kind of views have you had when you stayed at the Poly. Did you spend a lot of time out on the balcony?

There are some jaw-dropping gorgeous water views from the BC rooms, but for me personally, I won't even pay the few extra dollars for garden view. Except in the early morning or evening, we are never in the room long enough to enjoy the view. We are out in the parks or at the pool.

I do enjoy the space of a full balcony in the morning so I can go out with a book and a cup of coffee before everyone else is awake, but I don't care what I am looking at.

But I certainly understand that it is important for some families to have an enjoyable or memorable view. If you are going to be spending time out on the balcony, enjoying a late afternoon glass of wine (or GGS that you smuggled back to your room in your travel mug), why not have something pretty to look at?

Wait, they have grey goose slushies at epcot? Ive been there 3 times in the past year how did I miss this! Where is it!?!?!

Very personal question. If you have the loot to burn do it. If youd rather spend it elsewhere spend it elsewhere. If you have kids and youll be spending the majority of your time at the pool/parks I would pass.

At the Poly, we've done both GV and water view and enjoyed both but having said that, I probably wouldn't pay extra for the water view again. I just don't think the extra money we paid was worth it especially given how beautiful the garden views are. Last trip we stayed GV CL and absolutely loved it. I actually swore I would always stay CL after that but we decided to give up CL in favor of staying longer for this trip. Of course that hasn't stopped me from running the numbers repeatedly just to see if I could justify the upgrade :rolleyes1

We do use the balcony quite a bit when we are there - first thing in the morning, at night when the kids are asleep, and during the afternoon on when we can actually convince them to nap :thumbsup2

I'm thinking that what I will probably do is leave us with a GV (assuming I rein myself in and don't do the upgrade to CL) and then request a full balcony and possibly ask to be facing Epcot for a secondary request. My kids favorite park is Epcot so I think they would get a real kick out of facing towards it . If I upgrade to CL (I think it would be a standard room), would I still be able to request an Epcot view? Of course then I'd have to figure out how to convince DH that we received a free upgrade to CL.... :rolleyes1

Wow. I head off to Disneyland for a day and the thread moves through several pages!

I just wanted to send good thoughts to Feckless and those that will be in the world in early May. I truly hope that BTMR will be open for you guys at that time! The closure of Test Track stinks but I guess it just means my family will try Soarin' at Epcot at least once.

I have heard that parts of the fantasyland expansion are going to be open sometime in May. It's possible that even the beast castle and the Little Mermaid ride (whatever they are calling it) will be open. We can all hope.

Also, I wanted to take this moment to congratulate MikeyT. I hope someday to join him and others in competing in a race such as this. Way to go, everyone!

See, now if I was staying at the Poly, that is a place where I would consider paying extra for the theme park view- watching the castle change color, or seeing the water parade or fireworks from my balcony might make the upgrade worth it to me.

You can request "facing EPCOT", I'm not sure how many rooms there are that have an actual Epcot view, or what categories they are.

I have certainly seen the views from some of the rooms at the BC/YC where you could see Space Ship Earth, or parts of the Eiffel Tower. There are also rooms (I think in a variety of view categories) where you can see some of the Illuminations fireworks.

I had standard view CL room in 2010 that had a partial view of Illuminations and an awesome view of the MK fireworks show. But I'm sure that was an exception, rather than the rule for that category.

Does anyone know approximately what time the campfire & movies will be scheduled at the end of April?

Does anyone know approximately what time the campfire & movies will be scheduled at the end of April?

According to thread from April 2011, the movie was at 8:30 PM. I didn't know the time for the campfire, but I believe it is usually an hour before the movie.

Does the campfire sometimes follow the movie in the darker winter months?

Anyway, my best guess for this April is 7:30 for the campfire and 8:30 for the movie. I should have the schedule, including the movies that will be shown, in early April.

The BCV are great for their proximity to HS and Epcot, but they are not know for good views. The views are not bad, just not known to be great. On our first stay at the villas, we faced trees. At night, we could see the high fireworks from Illuminations. On our second stay, we faced the quiet pool and could only hear the fireworks. As far as I understand, you cannot request Epcot view.

If you go to this site, you can get an idea of how everything is layed out at the Villas.

Just remember though, a request is not a guarantee. When we went in December, we had two requests and got the opposite of both, but actually liked our view anyway.

Thanks for the link...off I go!

Great! Thanks! I had put 5:30 in my plans (following the Dec/Jan schedules that are currently posted) but then saw some BC pictures from the summer that showed 7:30... so I wasn't sure! :confused3

Lol... reading this made me laugh! During our November trip DD and I had a water view room at BLT... it was our first night and we were both really tired from the flight and all the excitement... so we went to bed early. We were laying there and we heard this music and we both said how rude are the people next to us playing the music so loud... So DD said should I call the front desk... so I said let me just go out on the balcony and see if I hear it out there... Lol! I go out there and the water parade was going on... Very cool to watch from the balcony!! We were on the side of BLT where you could see the backside of the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Spaceship Earth so we saw the fireworks from there!! Lots of fun!! Good memories!!

Here's my story (too lazy to rewrite so I am just copying it from my TR):

My DH and I saw fireworks in our room. Again and Again (Don't worry, this is posted is rated G)

Just as I was settling in for bed after a very long, very busy, wonderful day, the Illuminations fireworks started. I could hear the blasts and went out to the balcony. And, you guessed it! We could see some of the fireworks off to the right!

This was such a welcome discovery. We get an early start every morning, so by 8 PM everyone is just pooped. It always bothers me that we are less than 10 MINUTES AWAY from the Illuminations show, but we are too tired to go to see it most nights. So I was beyond excited when I realized that we would be able to step outside for a hassle-free show any night we wanted. Perhaps accompanied by an adult beverage from the lounge!

I enjoyed the pyrotechnics and smiled at our amazing luck. A giant tree blocking the view from our balcony? Ok, but not perfect. The view of fireworks? Priceless!

I hit the sack and slept pretty soundly. The end!

But wait! The next morning after Mark woke up he informed me:

“You know, you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our room”

“No way!” “Way!” (conversations at 6 AM are not very witty)

He watched the fireworks right from bed. And it was an excellent view. I watched Nightastic every night from our room or balcony (except our last night, Friday), which is exceptional because I am pretty tired by 10 PM. I don’t think I was able to get any great photos because it was pretty far away. I know one night I took videos, but I haven’t found the file yet and I don’t know if the quality is “postable”.

Here is a picture that shows where we could see the MK fireworks- In between the building on the left and those two taller trees:

SOMEONE PINCH ME!!!

AP discount was released today for spring. I am currently going with some friends 3/4-8 & doing a split stay - 2 nts at BCV in a studio, 2 nts at Poly. I just booked ANOTHER trip - Beach Club Deluxe Room CL!!!! Natebenma Natebenma - where are you?? Please please please add me to the list for 3/23-27!!!

:cool1:

OK does anyone have, or can anyone direct me to pictures of the Deluxe CL rooms? I've heard that they are a little larger than a regular room, having 2 queens plus a small sitting area with a daybed, coffee table & another TV. I really wanted a 1BR villa for this family trip, but the cost was the same for that or a Deluxe CL room, so I took that! I figure we can stay in a villa anytime, I might not get another chance at a discount on a Deluxe CL room. I went back online to check something & that category is no longer available with the AP discount, so I'm assuming there aren't many rooms of that type.

Ya-Hoo!

Here's the info I have on Deluxe Rooms.

I won't be able to add your info until later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Deluxe Rooms: 530 square feet, Suites: separate bedroom, only sleeps 3
Deluxe CL rooms- from Disneymomx7
There are six deluxe Concierge rooms at BC.

1557 has a patio and lots of windows.
2557 and 4557 have extra large balconies.
3557 has the standing room only balcony.

3691 has both a standing room balcony and a full balcony
4681 has a standing room only balcony.

So 3 of the 6 have full balconies, 1 has a patio, and 2 have standing room only balconies.
Views:
1557:
We stayed in 1557. We had a pool view where the patio doors were and we had a window that looked out on Crescent Lake. We loved that room - we were a hop, skip and a jump away from both the quiet pool and EPCOT! (disneymomx7)
4557:
In February, our deluxe CL room (4th floor) had a really nice view of the quiet pool. And from one end of the balcony (which was huge!) we could see Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. Loved it! (pixarmom)
3691 and 4691:
3691 and 4691: These rooms are corner rooms. If you look out the window in the room, you'll see a view of SAB and the lake. Out the side, where the balconies are, is the courtyard. If you walk out the back door in the lobby and look up to the right, there are those two rooms. The room on the fifth floor (5691) is the Vice Presidential. Nice views! (Teena)

Excellent info! Since I'll be there 2 weeks prior to the CL stay, I wonder if I contact the Concierge beforehand, would they let me see any of the Deluxe rooms if they're not occupied? I guess it wouldn't hurt to send them an email to ask, worst they can do is say no!

Thanks for the great info. Off to search The DIS for pics of this room category!
