Sorry- your comment begs another question. Can a family of 6 book a regular room at the Yacht & Beach Club if at least one of them is under age 3?

Yes because the child (age 2 or under) does not need a key to get into the parks for extra magic hours or to get into SAB.

Beach was completed October 2008, Villas March 2009, Yacht Sept 2009

How does this sound?

All 3 resorts have been recently renovated with the addition of flat screen televisions and new bedding (is this true of BCV???). The Beach Club renovation was completed in 2008 and the Yacht Club and Villas renovation occured in 2009.

Anything else of note in the renos? New coat of paint and such? Carpeting?

Thx!

Not sure about the villas - TVs ... I wouldn't go into detail as to what was renovated. The Villas' renovations were not the exact same as the Y&B.

Okay so I'm down to less than two weeks and I'm starting on some serious questions.

Made a reservation at Cape May, step dad loves fish, the rest of us hate it. Are we going to be okay?

Step dad has been giving the okay to go (will be 5 days out of cancer treatment) I am thinking we might need to get a chair at the resort just incase he needs it (can tire easily), I know they are free at the resort and rentable at the parks, has anyone done this? Is BC short on chairs or is it pretty easy?

I'm not a seafood eater and love Cape May ... plenty to eat for non-seafood lovers.

Can't guarantee it, but we normally have enough wheelchairs available ... just go to the concierge desk on the first floor.

I've already volunteered a couple of times to come in and do a full inspection of all of the Beach Club rooms to inventory the bedding styles/storage furniture/balcony size/quality of the view and number of clothes hangers in the closet but I'm still waiting to hear back from the Mouse about when he wants me to start!

Can I be your assistant?

Are you flying? If so you might want to rent a wheelchair at home and bring it. That's what we did when my mother (80) came with us and when dd broke her leg last year. We never realized until we had someone elderly or injured how much walking there is in the airport alone!

There is a gym at the Yacht Club (not at Beach Club), correct? Does anyone know the types of equipment they have? Anyone remember a rower?

The Health Club is between YC and BC along the outdoor walkway that connects the two resorts next to SAB. It is near Beaches and Cream, the hair salon, etc.

It has basic equipment--treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals, bikes. There are lots of free weights and weight machines. There are several ab things to do crunches with, etc. and mats for stretching, yoga, floor work. I'm sorry, but I don't remember if there is a rowing machine.

There are two locker rooms with lockers and showers. There is also a hot tub and some massage rooms.

There is an attendant in the room from about 6:30 am-8? pm or so. If you want to work out at a different time, you need a special key card NOT the KTTW card/room key. It is separate. You can get it from the attendant when he/she is there or from either the YC or BC front desk.

It is a nice facility. I've used it on 3 trips. Very clean. If there is a conference it can get busy during weekday mornings from 6:30-8 or so, but I've not really had a problem getting to use equipment or anything. DH and I switch off--one of us goes and the other stays in the room with the kids, then we switch.

Have fun!

The only time I was in the fitness center at the YC/BC was to walk through it to get to the lockers on our last day. We stored out bathing suits and a change of clothes there for an afternoon swim in SAB after the parks.

This is what I found:

Fitness Center and Spa

The Ship Shape Health Club is located between Disney's Yacht Club Resort and its sister, Disney's Beach Club Resort.

This fitness center and spa features massage therapies, body treatments, skin care and hair services, and men's and women's sauna and steam rooms.

State-of-the-art fitness equipment by Life Fitness and Hammer Strength includes treadmills, elypticals, stair climbers, regular and recumbent bicycles, weight machines and free weights.

Open 24 hours a day.

An attendant is present from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

For club access beyond attendant hours, meet with an attendant to sign a waiver and obtain a 24-hour access key.

Resort Guests must be 14 years of age or older to use the health-club facilities. Guests 14 to 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

A personal trainer is also available by appointment, for an additional cost.

Found this bit of info:

If you are not staying at one of these resorts and would like to use a workout center, you may do so by paying $12.00 a day (subject to availability.) Please note that if you schedule a spa treatment, you may use the fitness center that day for no additional charge.

Here's everything you care to know (and more) about the health club. Posted back on p. 31 of the thread.

Thanks so much for the health club info! I a hoping that all of the walking we will be doing will be enough for my husband & he won't resort to working out too. We are NOT that motivated!

Quick drive-by post here. We go to WDW several times a year with our 4yo son and have stayed at just about every moderate and deluxe resort except YC/BC with the Contemporary being our favorite - until now. Went this past weekend for 3 nights and stayed at BC for the first time. Absolutely loved it and decided that it is our new favorite!

Not sure about the villas - TVs ... I wouldn't go into detail as to what was renovated. The Villas' renovations were not the exact same as the Y&B.

I am curious now about the TV's in the Villas since we booked a studio and after looking at videos on utube of BCV Studios the newer video we watched showed flat screen tv in the room.

Any idea where I might be able to find out for sure if all BCV now have flat screens? In March of 2009 we had stayed in a OKW studio and I have to say it was hard watching a non flat screen when you are use to watching one at home and I am not looking forward to listening to DH if it is not a flat screen:laughing:

The villas have flat screen TVs and iHomes now. They weren't added at the last renovation but rather a year or so ago. The TVs are still housed in the original armoires. HTH.

Thank You for the quick response, now I can go back to planning and not worry about having a Grumpy DH when he tries to watch tv :happytv:

Thanks! I was pretty sure they didn't get the flat screens with the renovations. Glad to hear they are there now. I don't get into those rooms much anymore unfortunately.

Here is a link to the review of our dinner at the Cape May Cafe in July. Plenty of pictures. A lot of the photos are of seafood, though, since we enjoy it.

I'd love it!!! How about a week of inspecting rooms, no kids, fueled by Sunken Treasures!

Yay - the research trip! I remember we talked about this several pages back! If I recall correctly, Robyn was definitely participating and Teena was going to stop by after work. We also needed to investigate the answers to many questions involving dining options. Right? Anyway, I'm still in!
