Hi Teena- I am going to try to put something up in the FAQ about bedding, so if you can help me out here, I would appreciate it. Not to open a can of worms, but are all of the doubles gone???

*******************************************************

Rooms in all view categories; standard, garden and waterview- may have a variety of bedding layouts. This includes the regular (not deluxe) Concierge Level Rooms:

Very few rooms have a king bed or single queen bed. These may be requested on your reservation, but are not guaranteed.

The rest of the rooms have two queen beds.

Some rooms have daybeds. These rooms are guaranteed for families of five. If you have fewer than 5 people on your reservation, you may request a room with a daybed, but it is not guaranteed. You may also request a rollaway cot to your room when you arrive. This is provided free of charge (is that true???) and is subject to availability.

*************************************************

Anything else to add? Is this description accurate for the Yacht Club as well?

I don't think I have put up the spiel about on-line checkin vs. waiting until you arrive, but I think that needs to go to front pages, too.

***************************************************

BTW- it looks like we are racing towards closure on this thread! I think the moderators will lock it when we get to around 250 pages, so in the next week or so I am going to migrate the thread to 2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ.

I will post a message here that I am doing the work, and the new thread will be titled "Under Construction- Do NOT post here" until I am done. I will let you all know when it is good to go and provide a link to the new thread!

One more question- when were the Yacht Club and the Beach Club rooms renovated? I know they were both renovated shortly before my first stay in July 2009. I'm just looking for a year or season, here:

FOR EXAMPLE
YC: Fall 2008
BC: 2009

Thanks!!!

Great job Dee (and Teena). :cheer2: Your hard work is what keeps this the 'best' board on the DIS!

We just booked a water view room @ the BC for May 10-14. I really wanted GV but there were none available with the pin. It will be just DH and I for our anniversary. I booked a water view with a king bed. Now after reading this thread I am confused. Are we not guaranteed a king? I thought we were. This will be our first time staying in a deluxe. On our trip last Sept we booked a king room at POFQ and were guaranteed a king. I thought the only resorts that a king room was not guaranteed were the values :confused

Staying in a king room is VERY important to us. Can someone clarify which resorts we would be guranteed a king room. I am really looking forward to the BC and hoping we don't have to switch :sad2:

We do NOT have a king room category so you canNOT book a king bed. Some moderates and deluxes do have that category but the Y&B do not. I assume you booked through a travel agent. If you did and you have a confirmation from that travel agent that says you are guaranteed a king bed, please tell the travel agent you MUST see a DISNEY confirmation that says you have a king bed (there won't be one unless somebody made a huge mistake somewhere because there is no category here with a king bed). We have this happen alot. A guest will come to the front desk with a written confirmation from "Fun Travel Company" and it says Water View King Bed Room. Unfortunately there is no such room category you can book like that. So the guest calls their travel agent from the front desk and asks them to please fax us a "Disney" confirmation that says the same thing. The travel agent will have a Disney confirmation but it won't say you booked a king bed ... it might say you requested a king bed. You can book a water view and REQUEST a king bed but as you know requests are not guaranteed and since there are very few king beds at the Y&B, it's a long shot that you will get one.

If you did not use a travel agent, check your Disney confirmation and I'm sure you will see that you booked a water view and requested a king bed.

If you definitely want to stay at the Y&B and be guaranteed a king bed, there is only one way: You can book a one bedroom suite ... they all have guaranteed king beds or the Vice Presidential suite ... also guaranteed a king bed. The one bedroom suites are beautiful and on floors one, two, three and four and of course give you elevator access to the club level lounge on the fifth floor. The Vice Presidential is on the fifth floor.

Hope this helps. You could always switch to another deluxe resort that has a king bed category. You can find them at the WDW website by going into each resort and checking out their room categories.

The bedding stuff sounds perfect and is true for club level as well. They say all the doubles have been removed. However, about six months ago, we found one. When we told the managers, no one could believe it and we all piled into the room to see. Sure enough, somehow one got overlooked. So, I suppose there's a chance another one exists that has somehow gotten by everybody undetected but if someone happens to find a room like that, just come to the front desk and let a manager know and tell them you booked two queens and they will move you. There are definitely NOT suppose to be any left but I can't guarantee it since I personally have not done a room by room inspection.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for doing a FABULOUS job with this thread :worship: and starting a new one!!

I have learned so much from the fine folks on this thread and it has really helped pass the cold winter days, reading about a new resort (to me), and dreaming about a nice hot June vacation with SAB :beach:

Is there a "reward" if we find a double bed? I'm looking for a practical reason to book more trips. ; ) Perhaps Disney would consider hiring some one (ME!) to sleep in every room for "quality control" purposes. I am also availble for "Pool inspection" and "Buffet clean up".

I'm just guessing but I would assume 2606 is also garden.

I think if I were you I'd book a garden and request either 2606 or 1606 on your reservation. Keep in mind that requesting a certain room really is a long shot that you will get it. Of course you have to have booked the same category that that room is and the only one I'm totally sure of is 1606. I'm not back at work until Sunday so I really can't tell you anything definite. You could always call the BC front desk and ask to speak to someone in the back office and tell them you are getting ready to book a reservation and are going to request 2606 but you need to know if that's a standard view or garden view so you can book the right category.

I've never heard of anybody requesting a certain mousekeeper.

Thank you so much for all our help! I will give them a call before we book to "up" our chances. We love that hotel so any room will be perfect.

We just booked a garden view room at the BC. Will we have a balcony? Is there any particular area that some insiders know to request?

Too Funny! I would be right there volunteering my services as well! Maybe they could start a job like that up...I bet there would be a long line.

You have a 50% chance of getting a full balcony. If you think you would enjoy a full balcony, add "full balcony requested" to your reservation. Requests are not guaranteed.

So if I didn't get a full balcony would I still have a smaller one? What is the diff between full and non full? Thanks for the help!

It would be a "standing room only" one. Just big enough for you to take a step onto it...for one person

Am I guaranteed a room with a daybed at the YC if I have five listed on my reservation? The daybed will be for my DS (8). Thanks!

I saw the answer to this was yes...is that only if all 5 people in the room are older than 3? If one in our party is 2, do we need to request a daybed and hope for the best?

Thanks!

I've already volunteered a couple of times to come in and do a full inspection of all of the Beach Club rooms to inventory the bedding styles/storage furniture/balcony size/quality of the view and number of clothes hangers in the closet but I'm still waiting to hear back from the Mouse about when he wants me to start!

Yes, five people ages 3 and older, will guarantee you a daybed. Other parties must request one and of course requests are just requests and nothing is guaranteed. However, if you get a room without a daybed, you can tell the front desk to have a rollaway sent to your room (no additional cost).

Sorry- your comment begs another question. Can a family of 6 book a regular room at the Yacht & Beach Club if at least one of them is under age 3?
