We've spent the last 2 summers at BC and YC. Thinking of going to Grand Floridian this year. Can anyone confirm if the Queen/Queen rooms at the Grand Floridian are larger than at the YC?

I really love YC and Stormalong Bay - but DH wants to try the GF.

Anyone stayed at both? Thoughts please!!

TIA
Jennifer

We're booked into a Garden View CL room. We requested a King Bed... any chance we'll get it? I hear there are also single queen bed rooms on the CL level... are those Garden View? Are they nice? Are there any near the lounge?

We really want a 1 bed room - and would REALLY like a King... any advice as to what should we request?

Thanks for any help!!!!

Best bet is to book the Vice Presidential Suite on the fifth floor ... the king bed is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:

The one bedroom suites are on the first, second, third and fourth floors, some close to the elevators that take you to the lounge and some not close. All have king bedsw.

There are very few ... I think only 1 garden view CL room with a king bed. There is one single queen bed but I think it's a water view.

I have stayed at both and the GF rooms are definitely larger than BC/YC. BC/YC rooms are about 380 sq ft, while GF rooms are about 440 sq ft on average. I have read a few DISers say they found the GF rooms to be small, but I can never understand this - maybe because the rooms have large furniture, but it still very roomy (we do find the dormer rooms to feel small). The bathroom sink area is very nice and does take up part of the overall size of the room. It even has a hamper for dirty towels or clothing. :thumbsup2 The toiletries are a step above the other deluxe resorts, same company only their Spa products.

We love BC and GF - each location is fabulous and each resort offers so much. Of course, nothing compares to SAB and we love the happy feel at BC. :goodvibes

Hope this helps!! :thumbsup2

Your view will be parking lot or roof for sure.

One more quick question???

What would you do?

CL with regular dining plan or

Deluxe Dining with a regular Garden View room??:cool1:

Depends on time of the year. If I'm going to be spending lots of time at the resort and pool, then CL with regular dining plan.

If it's during the winter months and I won't be at the resort much at all, then I'd go with regular room and deluxe dining since I love character breakfasts but hate to pay for them ... way too expensive ... and I love the Brown Derby, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and other signature restaurants. Just my opinion of course.

OK, yes, the standard view rooms are UGLY roof and parking lot views. The water views (whether lake or pool) are very nice. FOR ME, and I emphasize that this is just ME talking, I could care less about the view and will always book the cheapest because I am NEVER in the room except to shower, sleep or change clothes and thus the drapes are closed. But that's ME! There are lots of people I am sure that spend hours in their room looking out or sitting on the balcony looking out at the view. I can't for the life of me understand that but I know some people like to get up real early and sit out there and have coffee and enjoy the view. I don't get it ... but those people probably don't understand why I am always running here or there and never relaxing in on the balcony or in the room.

Teena,
Thanks for your quick response! You are the best!
Now only if May can come quickly...:cool1::thumbsup2

Hey Brandi,
The Rack (rate) rooms and the DVC rooms at BCV are the same. They just do x amount in cash and x amount in DVC points. Same rooms!

Just making sure you do know they will run buses before the race. (At least they did for the January marathon). This is copy paste off event website:

Transportation
Event transportation is provided to race activities for all of the runners and spectators who book their travel accommodations at one of the select Event Host Hotels.

Pretty sure taxi would not be a problem either. It is the same bell stand as BC.

BCV is not one of the host hotels for the Princess so she would need to take a taxi to get to the Epcot parking lot in the AM...

We had a standard room view last year YC, and were overlooking somwhat the tennis courts.

Not the best view, but not the worst either. I don't really care what the view is, I'm only in the room to sleep at night, and change into bathing suits in the middle of the day!!!

In fact the only time I used the balcony last year, was to have my coffee in the morning (the room was freezing, and I wanted to thaw out)

I just booked CL Garden View for Feb 26-March 3rd. Four kids and myself. Never stayed here before and am really excited about it. The kids are going to love the pool!!!!

Yay- how exciting! Would you like for me to add you to the list of BC/YC Disers visiting in February and March?

We just booked a water view room @ the BC for May 10-14. I really wanted GV but there were none available with the pin. It will be just DH and I for our anniversary. I booked a water view with a king bed. Now after reading this thread I am confused. Are we not guaranteed a king? I thought we were. This will be our first time staying in a deluxe. On our trip last Sept we booked a king room at POFQ and were guaranteed a king. I thought the only resorts that a king room was not guaranteed were the values :confused

Staying in a king room is VERY important to us. Can someone clarify which resorts we would be guranteed a king room. I am really looking forward to the BC and hoping we don't have to switch :sad2:

Hi everyone, I have been reading this thread and now I am even more excited to be staying at the YC. On our first trip (in which we stayed offsite) we went on an Illuminations Cruise and ended up in the YC because we were not sure where to go. My DH looked around the lobby and said stated that we could go back to Disney if this is where I booked! Well, we are booked in CL standard rooms Sept 25- Oct 8. My girls and I can't wait!

If you want to be guaranteed a king bed you then are staying in the wrong place. They will not guarantee one as they have very very few. Aside from booking suites, the ONLY deluxe that will guarantee a king room is the Grand Floridian and those rooms are typically 450+/night WITH a big discount... You can request, but don't get your hopes up too high as it isn't guaranteed.

Am I guaranteed a room with a daybed at the YC if I have five listed on my reservation? The daybed will be for my DS (8). Thanks!

Wow...Sorry for my (mis)information.... Thought they ran this just like the January event, My apologies. Looks like only about 1/2 the hotels are 'official' hotels.

Bet those taxi's will be hopping though.
