I just booked a trip to Vegas in February. Leaving 2/15 so I'll miss work (if they even schedule me) on 2/20 and 2/21. Jeanne needs me for school on 2/16, 17 and 18 and I was invited to play in a huge invitational tournament at one of the casinos on 2/21, 2/22 and 2/23. They are comping me my room for 3 nights, giving me $100 each day in free slot play, $50 in meal credits each day and free entry into the invitational only tournament. Couldn't say no since it worked out with when Jeanne needed me too.

Wow Teena! That's a great deal!!!

Wow Teena that sounds great!!!!

It is so cold up here in NJ that I'm daydreaming of sitting by SAB with my very favorite drink - the sunken treasure!

July can't get here fast enough!!!!!

What...sunken treasure???? I have to get back to the BC to get one of those!! Yeah, it finally warmed up a few degrees yesterday and now today it is just nasty...going to rain ALL day. Get me back to the BC!!!

Available at Hurricane Hanna's, the restaurant/bar at Stormalong Bay pool.

Sunken Treasure - Malibu Rum, Midori, orange juice, pineapple juice and Sprite with a splash of BOLS Blue Curacao. Served in a souvenir cup for an additional $2.00 - $7.50

Hey Teena! Great news - how fun! And if your schedule continues as normal again, we'll still see you on arrival day (2/7) and departure day (2/13) before you leave! :wizard:

Wow. Sounds like my kind of drink. Can't wait to get one. 6 more sleeps before we leave! Too bad they don't keep pitchers of this in the CL lounge!

ohhh! that sounds yummy!

Great trip there Teena. When we went to Vegas in August we changed our hotel after my husband got an offer for three free nights and two entries into a slot tournament. We ended up with five free nights.

Enjoy.

We always go in the summer and LOVE IT!

Usually we go in July but last year our trip got postponed for a few weeks after dd broke her leg. Really didn't notice any difference between July and August. Of course last summer was hot, hot, hot everywhere!

LovingtheLodge had it exactly right. Take advantage of afternoons by SAB and take a little nap. We get to the parks at rope drop, leave around lunchtime and spend lots of time at SAB. We go back to the parks after dinner to watch the parades/fireworks etc. Get a water mister fan and drinks lots of water. We've gone in January/February and October but still love the summer months at Disney the most!

We just came back from the Beach Club today after spending last week there and I agree with you 100%. As nice as it was decorated for Christmas, I'll take the summer time weather and afternoons pool side any day over that freezing weather. It wasn't much warmer down there than it was in PA while we were gone.

I hate doing the parks in the hot hot weather ... much prefer walking around the parks in long jeans and a sweatshirt. That being said, if you are smart and do the parks EARLY when they open, then come back and spend the horrible hot part of the day at SAB, then hit the parks again around 8 PM, there is nothing better!!!! I really think everybody should spend a 3 day weekend at WDW during December to do the resort tours to see all the super decorations, do the Candlelight Processional, do MVMCP or skip the party but make sure you are there to see the holiday lights on the castle and the lights and "snoap" during the Osborne Lights. It's all so magical! Another hard part about spending a week at WDW in December, January, February and part of March is the packing. One day this week we are having a high of 42 and two days later they are predicting a high of 74 ... for a family of four or five, that's lots of clothes. You need to be prepared for cold, cool, warm and hot. I've been at the Candlelight Processional where choir members have been dropping like flies. They were fainting from the excessive heat. That's when Southwest Airlines comes in handy ... no fees for your bags!!

Anyway, I'm just hoping it doesn't rain today or tomorrow here because if it does, it could come down as real snow instead of our "snoap".

You are very welcome and I'm very happy you salvaged the rest of your stay!! Hope to see you back at the BC before too long!

Absolutely!! Before I left I booked us for the last week in June to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary!

See you in June and thanks again!!

Jay

We're usually a February/March WDW family, but after our July trip this year, it's very hard to decide. Both have advantages, so we'll be happy either way! As the boys get older and school responsibilities increase, it's going to be more difficult to take advantage of value season in February, so we may be back in the summer.

But I have to laugh about the winter WDW packing!!! We're doing the January (short Poly stay) and February (week at BC) trips, and I'm trying to make sure that we have all the right layering combinations and time to order anything we still need. Teena is right on the mark - that's a whole ton of clothes for our family of 5! It could be cold, could be warm, could rain, could not - lots of possibilities!

Today's my first full day home after our 10-day YC stay! Here are our observations:

-We loved, loved, LOVED the YC! We toured a lot of resorts, and were never happier with any of them than with the YC. I know everyone has their preferences, but I think we made a great choice!

-Our room was a pretty long walk from the lobby, but it had a fantastic view. We were in 3043, which is a king bed room with a view of the lake and Illuminations! The walk to the lobby was a bit of a downside, but we had an elevator close to us that took us down to the quiet pool/laundry area. Once DH gets the pictures all sorted through, I will try to remember to post some.

-The spa (jacuzzi) at the Ship Shape is great! I think since it's hidden indoors, and most people don't go to the gym while on vacation, it isn't very crowded. We had 24-hr access to the gym, and we got in the spa one night around 11pm. Plus, the sign at the quiet pool spa said it was open until midnight!

-We did get 2 towel Mickey's, and one towel animal that looked like hearts/swans. That was in our first 3 days. After that, no towel animals, but lots of extra soaps and shampoos. Also, we brought our Phineas and Ferb stuffed animals, but they just sat there. Maybe because we're adults...I don't know. Overall, Mousekeeping did a great job.

-Most WDW CMs can't answer questions about any places/stores/etc outside their own area. We're DLR APs, and we're used to just asking any CM if we have a question, but when we did that at WDW, we found that most CMs couldn't help us if the question wasn't directly about the place they worked. Oh well...lesson learned.

-Sorry to say it, but breakfast at the BC Marketplace was the worst CS meal we ate, and while the food at Cape May was good, the character interaction was really lacking.

-Don't take the boats for any other reason except enjoying the scenery (or if you're really tired after a long day, and there's no line, and the boat's already sitting at the dock). Any time we took a boat in order to get from Point A to Point B in a somewhat timely manner, it took a really long time.

-While we did see a lot in the parks, we also took the time to do some tours and other recreational activities, and I would really recommend that. The parks are great, but WDW offers so much more!

Overal, a great trip! Hope we get to go back to the YC someday :goodvibes

natebenma - I'm laughing my head off! I love sunken treasures but never knew all the ingredients (except the midori)! Leave it to you to know everything there is to know about BC!!!

Hope our paths get to cross this summer! Maybe a "real Dee" at a Dis meet?

Just back after a four night stay at BC. Some impressions.

Location was obviously fantastic. We would leave EPCOT, follow the path until we saw the quiet pool. We then walked past the pool finding a door right by the elevator, which was close to our room.

The room was nice, if a little musty. It was larger than the rooms at WL, but in my opinion these deluxe rooms are really not much superior to moderate level rooms at the Port Orleans Resorts.

We found the resort could use a little TLC, nothing major, but a little disappointing considering the money spent. Yacht Club seemed in much better shape.

We finally got a chance to use the pool on Saturday, it was nice. I liked it a lot more than DW who prefers both pools at WL.

The on site dining was better at YC. We ate steak at both Captain's Grille and Yachtsman, and passed on our dinner ADR at Cape May.

We checked out all three lounges. The lounges at these resorts are superior in my opinion. My favourite was the one at BC, but it was poorly located for the BC and could just have easily been a third YC lounge based on its location.

I could have done without the prevailing scent all over the place in BC as well.

Cast members were exemplary at both resorts.

We love the location of these resorts and will probably stay again, but next time at YC.

After staying now at two deluxes and two moderates, really to us the main benefits of deluxes are better location (in this YC and BC > WL), and better on site dining (again YC and BC > WL). To us everything else is just as good at the Mods. To spend the extra on future trips will be a tough choice for us.

I just joined the Dis! I am happy to announce we will be visiting the Beach Club from April 2 - 8th. My family and I are super excited! This will be our first trip to Disney. We were scheduled to visit last year, but had to cancel after I was put on bedrest for most of my pregnancy. Thank you all for the valuable information here. April can't get here fast enough!
