2010 Yacht and Beach Club FAQ, Part II---Inactive Thread--- Please do not post here!

Looking at some of the satellite photo views (one of my favorite tools for figuring out stuff about WDW), it looks like the Yacht Club parking lot is quite a bit smaller than the Beach Club lot, even when you consider that the BC has more rooms because of the villas.

I'm curious if any YC guests have experienced parking shortages? I'm there next week (yay), during a slower time of year.

Also, it looks like if the lot were full, it's possible to drive straight into the BC lot without going out and around through the guard shack, or needing to raise an arm with a key card. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the case?

Many thanks.

The BCV has their own guest parking lot. The BC has their own guest parking lot (across from the bus stop). The YC has a large parking lot by the convention center. It is plenty large enough. Both the BC and the YC have valet parking lots too. To enter any of the parking lots, you must go by a guard's shack. There are other entrances but you can't go through them as they have arms and even a guest key will not open them. There is also a parking lot for CMs on the other side of the road. During the F&W Festival, they are even more strict about letting guests come in and park. They print out the list of reservations at the restaurants and if you aren't on that list or staying at one of our resorts, you can't come in and park there.

There is no free internet. There was in the past but it was a trial. You can pay for and get wireless in the lobby of both the BC and YC. You can also get internet service (pay for it) in your room. If you stay in one of the suites, you get free internet.

Isn't the internet in the Villa's free only for folks staying on points? Not for those paying with cash.

Phew! I'm all caught up! Thank goodness for a slow work day so I could catch up on the 60 pages I missed. :)

Now that we've gotten past our Labor Day mini-vacay at Dragon*Con (we're geeks), we can finally focus on our next big trip.

katesdad - please add us to your December list. We'll be at YC 11/27 - 12/4. I'll be sending you a PM for a pin too, Teena. :)

I do have a question too and hope someone can help me out. I'm on a very strict diet and I'll be doing my best not to stray too far from it on this trip. (See my ticker! I'll hit 75 in the next week or two, w00t!) It will be tough and there will be many special treats that I won't partake in this trip. Oh, Grand Marnier slushie, how I will miss thee! You too, School Bread!

.... *drool*...

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out the best place for me to grab some breakfast. All I want is some toast or a bagel and a diet soda w/ caffeine. DH doesn't eat breakfast, so the simplest/quickest/cheapest option is what I'm looking for. I got an omelet croissant once at BC Marketplace last year, but that's definitely out for me. I've read about the Ale & Compass's continental breakfast, but fear that might be overkill for me since all I want is a bread and I don't know their setup for one person dining and the other not. Cape May Cafe is completely out for the same reasons. We are on the DDP, but won't be using it for my little breakfast unless it's just a snack credit.

I have considered just buying a loaf of bread at BC Marketplace and having that in the room, but I would really prefer to have it toasted. I know, it's such a minor thing, but it feels less "sad" that way, to have toast instead of a piece of bread. haha

I would think the Marketplace or Ale & Compass might have something you would like and would fit your diet.

Great job on the weight loss:thumbsup2 That's a lot of hard work. You can get a bagel at the BC Marketplace and they have toasters there too. I'm not sure what you're allowed but they have a nice fresh fruit and yogurt parfait. Have fun skinny. :woohoo:

Ale and Compass is perfect for you. They set up a small CS at the bar selling bagels, cereal, muffins, buns, etc as well as juice, coffee, tea, and I think yogurt.

You can take it to one of the seats/tables there, back to your room, or outside on the porch.

We are having 2 nights at YC 10/24-10/26.

If we love it we will book for 14 nights for next year for the whole family!!

Thank you! That sounds great. I always heard it as "continental" and I just pictured some sort of mini-buffet like at a regular hotel or concierge lounge. So I can order just what I need and not have to go to the somewhat chaotic BC Marketplace. Awesome! If I get tired of it, I can always hit the BC for a change in scenery. Good to know!

Thanks for the info. Sounds great for the morning.

I know these questions must have been asked already somewhere on this thread.

Is there WiFi service available at the YC?
Is there a fee?
What is the fee?
If there is a fee, is there anywhere that the service is free?
What do you have to do to get the service?

I just got a laptop and I'm thinking about taking it with me in Dec.

Something I am going to look into when we go. I am actually going to ask before we go out on the general board. We have Optimum (Cablevision) and you may be able to obtain a wireless signal for them and log onto their network using your Optimum account log in.

Is it all a go for RAC at the Yacht Club flying with Southwest? How soon before your flight do you have to have your luggage there?

Yes it's been a go for quite some time. The Airline Check-in Counter closes at 1 PM and I mean 1 PM. It is not operated by Disney and if you are in line at 1 PM, tough ... it closes! Since the buses pick you up 3 hours before your flight, you should check your bags in at least 3.5 hours before your flight if you are leaving in the morning. Otherwise, we suggest when you get up and prior to checking out at 11 AM, check-in your bags. You can leave any carry-ons you might have with Bell Services and then retrieve them before boarding the Magical Express.

Thanks Teena! Our flight leaves at 10:45 a.m., so we'll be getting up early.
