Whew! Finally caught up reading the whole thread :)

Now I have just one more question -or two....;)

Does the BC Marketplace have similar baked goods to the BW Bakery? Or is it a much smaller selection?

Does anyone happen to know when the BW Bakery opens? (sorry - I know it is a question about another resort :rolleyes1) I remember that the coffee there was pretty good - is it any different than the Nescafe coffee that is available at the BC?

If no one here is familiar with it - I'll ask "outside".

Just got back late last night from BC and had a great stay!! I need to catch up at work (:scared1:) but wanted to jump on here and see if I could help anyone like I was helped. I mostly lurked but this thread provided an amazing wealth of knowledge. All that said, I can answer this one!!

The BC marketplace has many baked goods. I don't think there was much similarity as the BW Bakery had a bunch of other stuff (eclairs, flan, and cheesecake come to mind as stuff that that the BC didn't have) but everything at BC was always delicious and fresh. I don't remember exactly what time the BW Bakery opened but it was open at 8:30am.

I'll try to jump back on here in a bit in case there are any more questions I can maybe answer. :flower3:

Well - I found one of these - maybe there are more later - but I start skipping pages ;)

We will be at the BC from 10/22 - 10/30 -but we leave VERY early in the morning 10/30 - so that day really doesn't count :sad1:

Linda - we are staying at BC :cool1:

Thanks..Stacey

Here are a few photos of some of the items available at the Marketplace. I think you should be able to click on them to make them bigger:

As Ibela mentioned, BW Bakery has a wider variety of baked goods, and the BC Marketplace selection is more limited but still good. It's so easy to hop over to BW often for the bakery, especially on the way to DHS in the morning! In July, we stopped at BW Bakery at approximately 7am (we were very early to DHS for an 8am EMH opening!) So I don't know if the hours there vary, but this site lists opening time as 6:30am: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=195

Yum!:)

ibela, welcome back - looking forward to hearing about your trip.

cburek - great photos! Of course, I especially love any photos of the frequently overlooked but excellent little slide!

These surveys are the way to let the "right people" know how you feel about the gelato being gone, the smores being gone, and anything else that you don't like. They are also a great way to mention things you do like. These surveys get more attention than letters. Both of these surveys are really important so if you have something to say, please take the time to do them!

Thanks!!

I'm only three days from being caught up!

Teena, I'm departing from the YC at around 7:30 on the 19th (not going home, just moving over to the Sandwich), so I'll try to pass through the lobby a bit early to answer a survey. My biggest request? That would be the return of resort-themed merchandise in the shops - baseball caps, coffee mugs, beach towels, and so on. Fewer and fewer resorts seem to have these.

I've answered the postcard surveys almost every visit, but those ar frustrating, because everything is multiple choice, with no place for free-form input. So we're limited to questions like "did the landscaping staff make you feel special?" Say WHAT?

Talking to a real person sounds like a chance to address the things that make a difference to us personally. (I'd make a plea to re-open Ariel's as a full-time restaurant, but I suppose that ship has long since sailed.)

We also just got back last night-we were so fortunate-every attraction was a walk on, lounges were only crowded one morning-the rest was great.
The staff is absolutely awesome-really made for a wonderful stay.

I do have a question-Did Art retire?

SAB - day: Closed 4x on Friday (or maybe Sat) due to needing to be cleaned out. I have no idea why people got mad at the staff for this but was amazed at how quickly we were able to get back in (about 20 min). The slide is SUPER fast. I'm not embarrassed to admit the little one was more my speed. I went down under the guise of walking my 21mo son up there and he waited until I slid down and then wiggled his way down the slide which was really cute. Btw, there are infant life vests available but I was told not many so we'd get it as soon as we arrived in the am even though he only wore it for the slide. My dd4 loved the big slide and went down numerous times in a row, I limited myself to 1x per day. It was crowded but we were always able to find a seat.

SAB - night: This isn't really SAB but my dd4 enjoyed the sing-along at night and we enjoyed roasting marshmallows. :goodvibes We didn't stick around for any movies but it looked like a really nice setup.

Room: Our room was ready for check-in at 9am. We stayed in a studio at the villas, first floor. Room was fine, nothing stood out and nothing was bad.

Location: The walk to the Boardwalk (ok, and the boat ride) and the IG at Epcot was great. The walk was about the same as from BLT to MK which was a pleasant surprise.

Staff: Excellent. Everyone was unbelievably nice. We spent quite a bit of time around the resort since this was mostly a non-parks visit. It seemed like EVERYONE took the time to talk to us and play with the kids and one CM even gave my son a toy!

People: It seemed like most people at the resort were really friendly, moreso than at the parks for some reason. On our first day we were eating lunch and a little girl approached us to ask if my dd wanted her big princess balloon since they were checking out that day and didn't want to take it with them. Of course dd said yes and was thrilled. We were only there 4 days and the balloon was still going strong so we passed it on to another little girl who was thrilled to get such a big balloon. princess:

Food: We mostly ate lunches at the BC Marketplace which had a decent selection of sandwiches, flatbread pizza, and the make your own salad which they put an enormous amount of anything you wanted. Everything was tasty and fresh. I had a burger from Hurricane Hannah's one day and that was good too. Our favorite snack was a waffle cone from Beaches n Cream to go. :cheer2:

Ummm, I think that's about all I can think of. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Actually the person doing the surveys gives you a computer to do it on. However, there is space to type a bunch of things because sometimes management sends out an email with some paragraphs from the surveys saying how people disliked this or liked that, etc.

I agree about resort specific stuff and that would be a good thing to put in that exit survey. Also I agree about Ariel's ... you never know. It is still being used for private functions. We have lots of wedding receptions in there. We ate there once when it was open ... great seafood!

I do have a question-Did Art retire?

Yes, Art retired 11 months ago. Richard is the new full-time greeter. He started two weeks ago. During the last 11 months, Vic - one of our dispatchers, Mike - one of our bellman, and I filled in off and on while they were trying to find the right person to fill the full-time position.

We got back yesterday from our first YC stay! We had a great time. I love the location and ease in getting to WS and DHS. It was great being able to bop from one park to the next!!

We had booked a std room but when we checked in at around 10:30am found out that we had been upgraded to a waterview of the quiet pool. It was perfect for us since it was just me and dh. We were on the first floor and could walk right out of our room and into the hot tub. That was bliss :lovestruc

I was lucky enough to meet Teena on one of our treks through the BC lobby. She was so sweet in helping us figure out what was going on with one of the restaurants being closed.

We went to SAB once to try out the slide but it was pretty packed so we quickly ran back over to our quiet pool. I really did like the sand at the bottom of the pool though.

Overall I really like the YC. I didn't think it was too dark or quiet. I have to say that after staying here though that I am a Poly girl at heart. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again though. You just can't beat the location!!

The International Gateway is full service with Guest Relations right there too so there should be no problem at all. It is suppose to be exactly the same as the front of Epcot.

Finally caught up!! After about four months of reading . . . .

Just to add, one difference I'm aware of - and it might be the only one - is that at the IG, they don't have the hardware to ISSUE Premiere Annual Passes, since it apparently takes a special machine, and there are only four of them at WDW.

Since our OP already has the pass, it isn't an issue. The turnstiles will READ them with no problem.

Now to start in on the thread for the Contemporary, to prepare for my stay at The Sandwich as soon as I check out of the YC.

I read your other posts and could not figure out what the "sandwich" was. :lmao::rotfl:

ITA :thumbsup2

We absolutely loved our quick weekend stay at the YC. Really couldn't have been happier and hope to go back soon :cloud9:

The only small disappointment was the lack of resort merchandise. We saw very nice options at the GF, Poly, and WL but almost nothing at the YC or BC :confused3

Thanks for all the information and pictures everyone!

Maybe we will do some of each. (BW Bakery and BC Marketplace) Does anyone know if it would ever be an advantage to catch the park buses at the BW instead of BC? I remember that we always had to stop by the Swan and Dolphin on our way to the parks when we stayed at BW.

Do the buses go directly from BC/YC to the parks - or stop any other places? How about going to the waterparks? or DTD?

Thanks so much Teena!!! I can see you are the Gem of this Board!!!
I will double check at check in that we have the daybed!! I was just worried bc I wasnt sure if my little one counted in the count of 5!!! and he wont sleep in a pack and play!!! so we need the extra bed for sure!!!
I think the fridge that we have in the room will be fine!!! just need it for Milk, and maybe some drinks!!!
will buy milk at hotel!!!
since its really all we need thought it would be a waste to have it deliveried!!! really was undecided so I just scrapped this idea!!!

I know it will all be great!! can't wait!!! thanks for all your help!!!

PS:
is there any chance our room would be ready when we check in about 10:30 am ish??????

Not sure if this helps you but we were able to get a full-sized crib for our 2 year old when we were there 2 weeks ago. I asked when we checked in and they brought it to our room about 10 minutes later! With an extra set of sheets, just in case!

Logged in this afternoon and couldn't believe this great thread was on Page 2 of the thread list :scared1:

So I'm posting to put us back to the front and because we have 12 days 'til we'll be in our happy place celebrating our 13th Anniversary and staying at the YC (a.k.a the darkside) for the first time!! :goodvibes
