When you go end of July/early August if you aren't there at early open you mine as well not go. EVERY park had fast passes for every ride gone by 1 pm every day. The waits for hot rides like Toy Story Mania were over an hour by the time the park opened for those not staying on property, even Space Mountain had a 1 1/2 hour wait by 9:30 am. And late hours were a joke - at 1:30 in the morning there were still hour to two hour waits at almost all rides. So it was either go early or forget about it.

I used to live in FL and when people ask me what my #1 Disney tip is it's to NOT go during the summer/hot/crowded months. We did this ONCE and it was hell on earth...my hubby said "never again"

You learn what to do/not do and what you like/don't like with each trip. We have stayed at Disney resorts that the service/amenities were not up to par...it happens. Everyone has their favorites. Our favorite is Port Orleans. Fabulous in every way. November is our first deluxe, the Yacht Club, and we are super excited

Hey Disney1976 - did you see the DISMeet photo I posted last week?

I did, almost missed it as fast as this thread moves! Had to search to find it. Just uploaded all our Disneymoon pictures to Facebook and I also have a great shot of the meet -can you explain how to post pictures on this site, maybe I can add it?

How limited is the amount of rooms at YC with king beds? We have a king bed room request for our water view room, but we actually wouldn't mind if it's 2 queens or 2 doubles. Are we limiting our possible room choices if we request a king bed? We're hoping for a lake view (that's not in our room request at this point). Also, are all the rooms with king beds smaller in size? I read somewhere that the rooms with the murphy king beds are smaller...is there a chance we would end up with one of those if we keep the king bed request in?

I'm quoting myself in the hopes that someone will answer my questions. Still wondering whether to keep the king bed request in or not :confused3

HI, we will be at the beach club from Oct 7th until oct 21st. It is our 1st stay in a deluxe hotel and we are really looking forward to it.

I made one request and that was for a full balcony, as there are 5 of us I am assuming that we will automatically get a day bed and therefore I don't need to request this.
Does anyone know what my chances are of getting a full balcony as that is quite important to us, the view I am not too worried about we just want to be able to sit out while the kids are in bed. Is there anything I can do to help me get my request.

Thank you, just over 6 weeks till I'm there:cool1:

According to Teena, the number of king beds throughout the resort is very small. I don't know the number or if those rooms are smaller, but if you have a waterview booked and want a LAKE view and that is the most important thing for you, that is what should be on your request.

Don't do the on-line checkin, and when you get to the checkin desk on your arrival day, ask the CM about your room- the view and bedding arrangement. You can ask if there are other rooms available that would suit your needs better.

You could also word your request:
Lake view, please. If possible, king bed.

Got to learn how to do the picture posting. .

There are some great tutorials on posting pics, but here is what to do:
Upload the photos you want to post to photobucket
Above the photo are the options edit/move/share/delete. Click on share.
When you have the options for Get Link Code, you want to use the option:
IMG for bulletin boards + forums. You can choose either Full Size or Clickable Thumbnail.
Copy the url info (highlight, and right mouseclick)
Paste the code into your message

Janloz- awesome, awesome job on the pins. Thanks! I am going to copy a picture and Teena's instructions for PMing her to the front page. Let us know how much you spent on supplies and shipping. Several of us have offered to chip in. What if everyone who is so inclined leaves $1 for at the front desk for "Janloz, checking in on September 11, 2010". They have to go to the front desk anyway, to get the pin. After your trip, we can come up with another method.

Thanks, BCV23- Your instructions were great!!! :thumbsup2

Just out of curiosity, what types of breakfast foods were you WANTING to have at like, 6am?

They sell cereal, juice, bread, etc. in the marketplace. There are fridges in the rooms. Couldn't you have purchased some cereal and milk, and eaten in your room each morning? That's what we've done every trip where we didn't stay Club Level...it's not a big deal. You get enough in your stomach for a few hours, then get a snack in the parks.

Many people who stay at the YC/BC (or most other resorts, in fact) do this all the time.

That's what I was wondering too. When we don't stay CL we always purchased some groceries - fruit, cereal, yogurt etc. to have in the room for a quick breakfast before hitting the parks.

Also we always go in July (this year early August) and the only parks we do AM EMH are MK and once in awhile DHS. If the park isn't having an AM EMH and you get there at opening you still have lots of time to do the big attractions before it gets crazy busy. So you could have a big breakfast at
7 AM and then hits the parks. Also we've had room service breakfast and thought it was just fine.

I don't know what time the pp wanted to eat breakfast - 6 am?

Hi from Vegas. I hate this place. I'm coughing and have a bloody nose already and I've been here less than 24 hours. I can't breathe. I'm wheezing. How in the world to people live in the desert?

Anyway, there are very few king beds. By making that a request, you definitely limit the number of rooms available with the view you want.

Make one request: full balcony. You have a good shot of getting it. As I've said a thousand times, (and I don't mind at all repeating), do NOT do an online checkin. When you get to the front desk, ask if you room has a full balcony. If it does not, tell them you really really would like one since you sit out there when the kids are in bed. If one is not available on the day you checkin, tell them you want to room change the next day to get a full balcony. If the full balcony is your one and only request, you should get it. However, if you start listing other things like location, floor, view, etc., you probably will not get everything you want.

Woo Hoo - Lagoon View CL just became available for my dates!! Actually, it was adding a day that made it become available (which confuses me, but I'll take it!).

It means doing a split stay (with POP), but I'm excited at being in EPCOT area for my days that I'm by myself (and I can walk back from the marathon).

Teena, I have a 2 bedroom for Oct 11-17. I have a need for either a quart or half gallon of orange juice. We are unable to make a grocery stop for this. Would this be available for purchase in the Marketplace? Thanks and we'll be seeing you in a few short weeks.

Well, we are home from a wonderful stay at the YC! It was a wonderful vacation. Everything went great. Transportation was very good. We must have hit everything just right because we never waited for anything for more than 5 minutes.

The CL Cms were Ok. We enjoyed all the offerings and had a room with a great lagoon view.

oh I am so excited only a few more days to go now till our stay at the Y club!!! we fly out on saturday and i am going to meet my dd at the hotel ( I have not seen her since she left the UK in June to do the wdwicp ) so we are all super excited, she will be 21 during our stay so i really need to get onto the cake hotline and book a cake hopefully to be delivered to our room. any body else staying whilst we are their? we dont leave till the 11 sep - so so so need this holiday and to see my baby

Is your daughter enjoying the wdwicp? The young people in that program are always so delightful. You must be proud. Enjoy your long vacation!

Oj is available in half gallon size at the Marketplace.

Dee, way to go! :thumbsup2

Nora, I'm with the others about breakfast. Have things in your room or order room service. Have a light breakfast in the room and then schedule a late morning breakfast in the park. Avoid EMH if a hot breakfast in the hotel is important to you. As for towel animals, you are right...they are not a guarantee. In fact, in the deluxe hotels they seem to be relatively unusual these days other than a large welcoming heart or Mickey head at least in my experience. Requesting them might not even be fair to your housekeeper. Each one has a set number of rooms to do every day. If one housekeeper has five requests and another has none, it would make for a much longer day for the first. I think it was admirable that you made sure that your children weren't expecting them. Sorry you were disappointed in some aspects of your stay.

Dee, way to go. :thumbsup2

KerryCM, glad you had a nice trip. :wizard:

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I have only made one request and that is for full balcony so fingers crossed that we get it.

Thank you once again and enjoy your vacation

Janloz, hope you save some pins for us!!!

I made 155 pins that I am sending to Teena the end of the week so I am sure she will have a few for the December Disers. Please PM her when she gets back from Vegas since she is keeping the list past my trip so she definitely has one reserved for you.

Thanks for the compliment and putting the info on the beginning of the thread. Honestly, the only cost I had for the initial set of pins is the Priority Mail box to send them to Teena which was $10. A supplier for our PTA donated the pins and I just printed the inserts. So no need for payment. Going forward, I will look into the costs and let you know.
