Being that they say not to pack valuables in checked luggage, we put them into our carry on bags, with a change of clothes. For those BC/YC folks who've done ME, what do you do with your carry on items, if you aren't able to get into your room when you arrive?

This fall will be our first ME. We also decided to save $, and not do town cars this year.

Our rooms have been ready the last two years when we have checked in, but if your room is not ready, you can leave your carry-on luggage with bell services while you enjoy the pool, a restaurant or one of the parks.

Bell Services will hold them in storage until your room is ready and once you get into your room, simply call them and they'll bring them up for you :thumbsup2

Does both the YC and the BC decorate for Christmas? :santa:

Yes they do :) While it's been 8 years since I've been able to go in December due to not being able to pull my girls out of school, DH and I stayed at the YC and BC many times in December prior to then :) The YC had a very tall tree with sailboats and lighthouses all over it in the lobby and there are wreaths throughout the resort with a big sailboat in the center. About 12 years ago, there used to be a "Toy Shoppe" facade set up in the YC lobby and every evening a CM dressed as a conductor would come out and read the Polar Express to all the kids (and adults) sitting on the carpet. Following the story, he would go around and hand out silver bells in a cord to all those in attendance :) Sadly that was discontinued (Probably because of the rights to the Polar Express being owned by Warner Bros. )

The BC lobby is beautiful-there's a large carousel fashioned out of gingerbread that actually moves in the lobby :) There is also a tree decorated with the BC theme.... both resorts are beautiful during the holidays! :santa:

Hi Teena! We are big fans of the Yacht/ Beach Club. Have been there annually for about 10 years now. Will be do a split stay this year with POR, so will only be at YC 9/ 15-18.

I never thought to post about this, but since I saw your post about the bus problems you addressed with your manager, I thought I'd ask. Can you find out why the Friendship boats to the Studios/ Epcot are so stinking HOT? :confused3 This hasn't always been the case, but the last 4 years or so, it is rediculously hot on those boats. The captains have even made comments, telling guests to complain about it. There have been threads on the Transportation board & I know I've made it known on surveys.

I am grateful to be able to go to WDW at all. I know this is just a silly complaint, & not anything to keep me from my favorite place on the planet. But I just can't help wondering with how great everything else is, why can't they just fix this one thing? So any thoughts? And thanks!! :)

I'm going to be totally honest here and I'm answering strictly as a Disney guest and not a CM. I find the one thing that is absolutely the most un-Disney-like at WDW is the Transportation Department. When we stayed at the GF and had to share buses (overloaded all the time) with three other resorts, I was livid. It made no sense. And after thinking about it, I realized I can't get mad at the resort. They have nothing at ALL to do with it. I wrote letters and letters ... and every time I dealt with a bad transportation issue, I would write more letters. That's the only thing I can tell you. Keep writing letters. We can only pray that enough people will write (about hot boats and bus situations) that maybe something sometime (hopefully in my lifetime) will finally improve. I wish I could give you a good answer. I have none.

Does both the YC and the BC decorate for Christmas? :santa:

Both lobbies are decorated for the holidays, the BC has the carousel and the YC has the train display. Both have lights, trees, wreaths and other festive decorations. It's a great time to be at WDW.

what is the difference between the Yacht Club, which we loved and the Beach Club? Does the Beach Club have big balconies like the Yacht Club?

The difference in the balconies is that the BC gives you a 50/50 shot at a full balcony while the YC almost assures you of one. The BC has a lighter feel to it, the "dark side" is more into the richer, darker wood feel. The BC has more family activity and the Marketplace while the YC is more convention traffic and a little bit more subdued. And the BC has TEENA!!! What more can you say?

By outsourcing the Transportation to an non-vested third party, WDW has saved itself a lot of money but it has not kept the customer happy. However, I'm pretty sure they aren't as concerned about that as long as they can continue to fill up the hotels and the parks which means the customer may be unhappy, but they aren't choosing to spend their money elsewhere which means WDW doesn't have to change its business model (yet).

It has taken me a few weeks to find time to post my quick review of our stay at the BC.

We stayed at the BC from 7-24-2010 to 7-31-2010. We arrived at MCO around 1:00 and quickly made our way through the airport and didn't even wait in line at the Magical Express. We walked right on to the bus.

Leading up to our stay I checked these boards for information about the BC. Teena provided her usual GREAT information and I had all my questions answered by reviewing her answers and others posted by great Disers. I thought I was going to miss her on our trip. So I was so happy to walk through the doors and see her cheerful face standing there greeting guests. I bolted away from my family to say "Hi" to her leaving my wife and kids with inquisitive looks on their faces. After talking and chatting with her a bit I went and checked in.

I did not do the online check in and really did not wait that long in line to check in. I quickly found out that I had been upgraded from our Deluxe Waterview room to Club Level. :yay: This was our first upgrade in our five trips to WDW. We were escorted to the CL floor and shown around and then lead to our room. We got situated and checked out the view from 5725:

After checking things out and then stopping briefly in the CL Lounge we headed out to our traditional first night at MK. We stopped by the lobby and talked a little more with Teena and got our pic taken:

The BC is a very beautiful resort. We truly enjoyed our stay here the entire week. We ate at Cape May Cafe for breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed both. I thought it was one of the best seafood buffets I have experienced. We had our annual beach trip a week after we got back from WDW and went to a buffet there and it was nowhere near the quality of Cape May Cafe. The food at Cape May was kept very fresh but not overcooked/steamed.

The CL lounge was a nice surprise for us this trip. We stopped by almost every morning to enjoy some coffee and light breakfast. This really held us over until lunch time. During the day we took advantage of the snacks, loved the homemade potato chips, and free sodas. We stopped by a couple of times in the evening and had some appetizers and beer. Wine was available also. Over the week we had chicken skewers, duck quesadillas, mussels, cheese and crackers, spring rolls and seafood salads. On a couple of occasions we were able to take advantage of the desserts and cordials in the evening.

The pool, I am told, was very nice. My daughter and son went swimming on three or four of the days while there and said they really enjoyed themselves.

The only slighty negative point was the bus transportation. It was either poor timing all week on our part or the service was not as good as other resorts. We waited long periods for busses to MK and DTD. However, the walking to Epcot and the Boardwalk and the boat rides to DHS were very nice and convenient. Our waits for the boats were not long.

Not wanting to drag this out too much, most everything at the BC was very enjoyable. We are a Poly family and still really love that resort. However, Teena and the staff at the BC have made it very difficult for our return trip to decide on a resort. I think it is safe to say we will be staying at the BC again.

Great view DisneyDad in PA! And more pixie dust. seems like a lot of DISers were upgraded to club level. Guess the non-club level rooms were overbooked?? Such a nice treat.

Here's the latest on the October trips. Some overlaps early in the month!

Transportation is not outsourced (at least yet). The Magical Express and Cruise line buses are all run by Mears, but the buses that run to and from the parks to the resorts and boats and monorails are still Disney.

I read that Ale and Compass Lounge serves food but can't find a menu. What kind of food is served there?

Why is my signature cut off? :confused3 When I preview it in the editing part it looks fine. oh well. Worse things could be happening. :goodvibes

Do we have a December list going yet?? We are December 3-11 at Beach Club. Anyone else out there??

We have a villa ressie in october. We are planning on grocery delivery. If we get moved from our villa what will happen with the grocery delivery?
