Hi!
Thanks to Teena and everyone on this thread for posting such valuable information! Dh and I are going to BC for 3 nights in February. We've never stayed here before, so we're very excited. However, due to finances, we've just booked a standard view room. Our objective for this trip is to enjoy the resort as much as possible (i.e. SAB, movie on beach, boardwalk area, Jellyrolls, walking to Epcot, etc...). We don't want to spend a lot of time in the parks, since we were just there in the fall, and will be back in the summer.
Is it possible to get a decent view from a standard room? I love sitting out on the the balcony to read and sip a glass of wine but can't afford upgrading this time round. Will I be looking at only concrete or rooftops??We've booked standard rooms at the Polynesian before, but have always had decent enough views so we can still enjoy the balcony. Also, if it is cold during our trip, will there still be enough to do at the resort? I'll probably spend a few hours in MK and Epcot, but other than that, I want to relax. Dh isn't into the spa thing!
Any advice or suggestions would be great.
Nope, the standard views at the BC are roof or parking lots. This all changed as of 1/1/11. A decent view without water would be a FEW dollars more a night (for 3 nights it probably wouldn't be more than around $30 total) ... that's called a garden view. You should definitely switch and request a full balcony!!!
Obviously in Florida during December, January, February and most of March, you have to be prepared for cold, cool, warm and hot. Yesterday was in the 40's most of the day. Today we hit low 70's. February is usually worse than December but who knows!! Mother Nature is the only person that can answer that. If the temps don't get above 50, SAB will not open and the movies are moved indoors when the weather is not welcoming for beach viewing. Most people that come to enjoy the resorts and not the parks (and we have lots that don't buy park tickets at all) don't come in January, February or March because of the weather. Since you are there only 3 nights, if the weather is not cooperating during the day, you could spend a day at Downtown Disney, maybe hit a movie there, and there's nothing better than Jellyrolls later at night no matter what the weather!! Even in lousy weather, I could stay occupied there but the best part of the Y&B is all that goes on in and around SAB and the weather can definitely cancel all that!
