What are the dates of the slide rehab?
I have a section on the front pages about pool rehab schedules. I can put the dates for the slide closure on the front page along with info that there will be shuttles available to the Boardwalk during the renovation. I can also mention that SAB will be undergoing scheduled maintenance throughout the winter, but sections will remain open at all times.
Somebody that received the "letter" with the dates on it can confirm, but I believe the two slides (large and kiddie) are presently scheduled for rehab January 3 - February 10th. Keep in mind weather can change this. It could be done ahead of time or it could run later.
Wow, your trip and race are almost here!!! I hope you and your family have a fantastic time and successful runs.
Mike, if you happen to get a chance, could you take a picture of the DVC Little Mermaid at BCV. I've wanted to put that on the page for BCV, but the only pictures I've seen so far have people in them. No pressure though- it is no problem if you can't do it.
Thanks!

Is it possible to get a decent view from a standard room? I love sitting out on the the balcony to read and sip a glass of wine but can't afford upgrading this time round. Will I be looking at only concrete or rooftops??We've booked standard rooms at the Polynesian before, but have always had decent enough views so we can still enjoy the balcony. Also, if it is cold during our trip, will there still be enough to do at the resort? I'll probably spend a few hours in MK and Epcot, but other than that, I want to relax. Dh isn't into the spa thing!
Any advice or suggestions would be great.
My husband has a conference at the YC in March. YAY!!! Our family of 4 will all be going, dh, dd8, ds4 and me. The rooms available at convention rate are all standard view rooms. We would really like a lake, pool or garden view. The group rate reservation CM said we would need to wait and ask at check in to upgrade. I'd rather be sure and book it ahead of time if possible-- has anyone ever been able to do this (by upgrading from convention rate- not rack?)
Either way I'm happy to be staying there, but we do spend time at the resort/in our room and view is important to us.
I just booked one night at BC before heading over to a different resort. Mainly, we are going to have fun in the pool. On our second day (check out day), how long we will be allowed to use the pool?
Convention bookings are done differently and upgrades are too ... everthing must be cleared through our convention person handling your group. You'll need to ask at the front desk. If the regular CM doesn't help you, ask to speak to one of the managers.
Do the BCvillas have full balconies?
Thanks!

Hi Dee!
Here's an excerpt from the "slide letter:"
"If you have stayed with us before, you are most likely familiar with our Stormalong Bay pool complex. While this swimming and recreation area has provided our Guests with endless enjoyment for many years, it is time to refresh the pool's water slide as well as the Kiddie slide. Beginning January 3, 2011, the pool slides will be closed to Guests so that we may begin this effort. We expect the slides to reopen in early February. The rest of the Stormalong Bay pool complex will remain open for your enjoyment. In addition, you may enjoy our three leisure pools: Admiral Pool at Disney's Yacht Club, Tidal Pool at Disney's Beach Club and Dunes Cove Pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas.
Should you wish to have a slide as part of your pool experience, we are making the Luna Park pool and slide at the neighboring Disney's Boardwalk Inn & Villas available for your enjoyment. Shuttle transportation will be made available during this timeframe for our Guests wishing to take advantage of the nearby pool experience."
As for the meaning of "early February," someone on another thread guessed that the BC slide would open on or before February 7, based on a letter from Disney to Boardwalk guests stating that the Luna Park pool slide will close on February 7 for renovations. Hope this helps!
Exciting News!!!!!
I'm going to be a Grandmother in July. A Disney Baby is Coming!!!
Can't believe we leave Wed! We are down to the last minute things and making lists for packing. We haven't been at this time of year in 10 years and are last few trips were in May/Aug so we are excited to enjoy some cooler weather hopefully and lower crowds![]()
