2010 Passporter Book Update

I don't think that is the point. The point is you pre-order a certain year, pay in advance, told you would have it by so and so date then it doesn't come before your cruise. That is the problem not that we should of bought the previous year, I would of bought the previous year no problem if I knew this one wasn't going to be ready!

I think it's all how you look at things. In the grand scheme of things, it's a guide book. I get everyone's irritation, but it really shouldn't be such a big deal.

As I have experienced this for 3 years now, it's small stuff. As they say, don't sweat the small stuff. There's plenty of information available! And I'm not to the point of calling anyone to complain about it. It's just what it is.

I hope everyone has a good cruise despite when the guide book comes out.

But I have to laugh at those of you who are annoyed that the book isn't yet ready.....sorry, but I do.

I'm glad it doesn't bother you!

Unfortunately, it does bother others. And laughing at us doesn't help the situation any. Sorry?.

Realistically, the information in a previous edition will do; combine it with all the amazing good stuff you learn here on Disboards and you will be absolutely fine. Really!

Actually the information from the 2009 guidebook doesn't work as the ship didn't go to Europe in 2008 or 2009. The latest information for Europe is from the 2007 guidebook.

If the book is shipped in mid to late May, you will certainly have it by June 5.

With my busy schedule, I won't be able to read a whole guidebook in a couple of days. It just would have been nice to have a 2010 guidebook when they said it was to come out. Especially after having paid in advance for the book (I won't be giving them $45 again). In the best of worlds, the beginning of 2010 would have been helpful.

Yeah, that's the thing we can't get our money back for a book we may not even be able to use.

I was bummed but my cruise is far away. The e-book version is the same as the book. At least those of us who are cruising later will have that. I actually like having the e-book. Sorry for those who are leaving soon.

Did they say that those who pre-ordered would be getting the E-book or only specifically people who ordered the E-book?

Speaking of which, the 2010 edition of our Disney Cruise guide is undergoing major revision -- significantly more than we anticipated -- and we're still working on it. That means we won't make our projected late April release date (more like mid-to-late May). We will, however, make an e-book version available as soon as we can. Watch for details on that to come soon.

That is from the weekly newsletter. When I ordered the 2009 book last fall they gave me access to the e-book version while I was waiting for the book to arrive. Nothing like instant gratification. LOL

Croppincolburn,

Thanks! There's at least some light at the end of the tunnel!

Are you sure you can't request a refund? I did with the WDW one that was delayed?

We were on the first Med cruise in 2007. The Passporter didn't really help us pick our excursions. For that we used a travel guide that dealt with the area.

You said that you wanted the book to pick your excursions. Therefore, you won't need to read the entire book. You'll only need to read the small bits that deal with the Med ports.

True. It's a bummer that is is going to be a month delayed. It's not the end of the world, however.

Why would you not be able to get a refund?

As I recall, everyone who purchases the book is allowed access to the e-book.

Whilst I appreciate that efforts are being made to ensure the book is as 'up to date' as possible, surely there is a point where these revisions are cut-off and instead put in next year's edition. Otherwise they'd never release the book for constantly updating it. If this is a guide for 2010, why release it nearly half-way through the relevant year, no matter how well intentioned it may be?

That's a good question for the passporter forums.

ITA ::yes::

Exactly! I won't be buying it now:sad2: Especially since I got my preordered WDW book 5 months late and never so much as an apology!

I know this won't make you feel better but I recall getting a hefty discount on my delayed passporter book a few yrs back. I believe it was 2008 or 2009 wdw book.

The writers just had there first grandchild now so I'm sure getting this book out is no longer a priorty for them.

That may be true, but I see no evidence of it being true.

I guess the fact that it is going to be out when half the year is over is evidence enough for me. Their DL book has been delayed, too. I'm glad they are enjoying the new baby but I just wish they would stop making promises they clearly can't keep.

Delays happen. A grandchild was also born. No causation between the two has been shown. Asserting that the guides are no longer a priority could be seen as slander.
