2010 news from the Magic

I am guessing - and I've run it passed my TA and she thinks (and we both hope!!:lmao: ) that I am in the right ball park - that a cat 6 for 4 of us (me, DH, and two boys who will then be 6 and 3) - $12,000.

But I am hoping it will be less - but I think there is little chance of that now after seeing some of the eurpean prices!! - I just hope its not any more!!:lmao:

I think it will be a little higher than that, but I'm crossing my fingers!!

OK, so I did a little researching on my own regarding DCL Christmas cruises. I found info stating that the 10 night 2006 Christmas cruise started at $2399.00 pp. I can only say, WOW.:scared1: Keeping in mind this was 3 yrs ago, I can only imagine what the price for the 2010 Christmas cruise will be. Maybe that is why DCL is keeping that info a secret until Monday, so that I won’t faint until then.

Was this the Cat 11/12 starting rate, or for some other catagory?

Unfortunately it was old info that I googled and only stated "rates starting at". I would assume with that statement that it would have been cat 11/12.:confused3

Would be great if someone were able to chime in here that was actually on that cruise.........................

Our family is considering the eastbound TA. We intend to just take the kids and hope the schools will work with us. Has anyone been on one of the TA trips? Were their kids on board? We're a little worried there won't be any school aged kids. Also, I'm still not sure if its smarter to book on the 14th or wait untill we're on board the 18th? As I understand it, if we book online we'll get 50% off the deposit- but that doesn't really save you any $ cause you just have to pay it later...but on board you get 10% off plus an OBC. Does anyone know what the OBC for the TA cruises was last time? Also, anyone know what the weather will be like in April across the Atlantic? Seems like it could be cold :)

How much are you thinking??!!:scared1:

The per night price for a family of 4 in a cat 6 on the 2009 Christmas cruise is $1,336 per night. Assuming the same per night rate, then it would be $14,700 for the 11 night 2010 trip. On the other hand, doing the same with the Baltic pricing puts you at $12,600ish. So, I would guess somewhere in between the two - $13-14K. I'm guessing $13K.

We would be looking at cat 9 pricing, which I'm guessing will be around $11K. I would love for it to be less - not sure we'll be able to afford that. We might just end up doing the Thanksgiving week again.

Oops - and I forgot to add that my estimates include a 10% onboard credit.

I called DCL this morning and asked about deposits...the guy said $800 pp for the Baltic cruise.....He didn't think the 50% discount applied and that discount is only when you book on line....ie 50% of $800 would be a $400 deposit..he could find nothing saying it applied to the Baltic...

He also said if I book my DD friend and she can't go I can either
1. cancel and get my deposit back (up to 120 before cruise)
2. change the name on the reservation....

But $800 deposit.....WOW:scared1:

From yesterday's WSJ: - Moscow side trip:

Disney Cruise Line is offering a number of new destinations to choose from in 2010, including St. Petersburg, Russia, and Tunisia. Booking for the cruises opens Oct. 14.

The St. Petersburg stop is on the Disney Magic's 12-night Northern European Capitals cruise, offered in June and July 2010. The ship will depart Dover, England, for Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm among other ports. The cruise will overnight in St. Petersburg with a shore excursion option to Moscow for the second day. In April, May, August and September, the Disney Magic returns to the Mediterranean with cruises to Italy, France and Spain, plus three ports of call not offered when Disney last sailed the region: Tunis, the island nation of Malta, and Corsica.

thanks Jodie!!:thumbsup2 - at least I will be prepared - I (think!!:rotfl: ) I am going to do it whatever happens. It just might mean I have to cut down on some of my hotels at WDW or Universal. But this is probably the one and only time we'll get to go at Christmas time (as DH's job normally doesn't allow it - they have granted this leave as a special one-off:banana: ) - so I think I will definitely stick with it - I just hope it doesn't rule out my dream stay at the poly too!!:cloud9: :sad2:

Wow $800 per person. Does anyone know if it is for adults or for everyone, I have 2 DD's who will be 5 and 2 when the ship sails in 2010 - will I be paying $800 deposit for them aswell? Not sure I can just magic up $2400 in 5 days time, I have started my savings and budgeting but I only have around $2k saved so far...

The $800 deposit is for the suites. The deposit for non-suites is $600. I have been told if you book online the 50% offer will still be available and will apply to the special cruises. We shall see.

overnight in St. Petersburg with a shore excursion option to Moscow for the second day.

I wonder how much $. I have been looking at this as an option on our own and the cheapest we can find for a day is about $750.

Just goes to show...you can get a different answer everytime you call....I might call again today...;)

I read that somewhere as well but couldn't believe it. Moscow, I believe is even further form St. Petursburg than Berlin is from Warnemunde. Do you think it will be a flight?

quick google search and yahoo answers...

372 air miles..

about 420 driving miles.

Takes about 8 hours via the Russia Rail system and about 1 hour or so by air.

it has to be air and will probably be very expensive!!! I'm game!!! I'll choose this excursion over all else I think. When will you ever get back to Moscow?

Would be very wary of flying with Russian airlines, have a friend who comes from Siberia and her family are still there. She will fly BA to Moscow from England and then do the train onward for over 2 days as there is grave concern about the aircraft and also the airfields.
