2010 news from the Magic

Did I miss something in the anoucement? Are they doing 10/11 day in the Carabiean?

I just found the answer. Over x-mas and new years. My senority does not allow me to hold vacation time at that time of year. Oh well. I hope for more of those when the rest of 2010 comes out.

Hi, It was in a promo article sent to me from a travel site, but i think it came from some Q&A at the press conference originally. At least that's what someone else was saying, lol. It's a reputable source tho, and it sounded so cool.

Makes me wish I had little ones again!!

ps we are going to try to book the June 12 baltics too! :thumbsup2

My dgs will love it! He dresses as Prince Charming on the formal nights. Hope you book the 12th - kids are still in school so I'm hoping for a light kid turnout.

We'll be on the Magic on October 18th. Does anyone know whether it would be cheaper to book a 2010 cruise on the 14th or should we wait untill we're on board? I'm concerned that we won't be able to get two cat 11 connecting rooms if we wait. Our budget will be tight so we'll need the OBC. Is it $200 per room for the longer cruises like it is for the regular 7 day? Also, is the deposit more for the 2010 cruises? Would the half off deposit deal apply if we booked on board or only online? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I just know you guys will have the answers!!! Thanks in advance :)

I would go ahead and book and then check onboard and if the price is the same then re-book for the extras. Some cruises go up in price several times on the 1st day.

We are going for the 12th June also as that is the day of our wedding anniversary and what a way to start. Short drive to the port and onboard sounds too good to be true. However, am still looking and waiting for the NCL brochure to come out for that time of year as they do a very similar cruise, also from Dover, and we could probably afford a better stateroom then.

You know you want to be on Disney!

The repos weren't that popular last time (they were practically giving the Eastbound cruise away) but the Med cruises were popular. This way they can spend more time in Europe.

It used to be $500. For these cruises it will be $600.

Tracy, will it be $600 for the long holiday cruises too?

Does anyone know how quickly the European cruises sold out last time.........minutes, hours, days, weeks?!!!:rotfl:
Which category of cabin tends to go first?

We too are considering the 11 Christmas cruise. How do you think that cruise will be priced in comparison to the TAs? Can't decide between WB TA or Christmas cruise, but if the price was MUCH different, that would make our decision for us.:confused3

From my understanding almost all had availability for a long time the July & August cruises had the highest demand.

There almost always is availability of some sort after the 90 day cancelation period.

The best thing is to book what you want now it will be the lowest fare available you can always cancel & will have the best chance of an upgrade as if there is availability Disney tends to upgrade already reserved & market cat 12's.

Best chance of a last minute deal would be the early Med's & Sept 1st Med & transatlantic.

Where did you find this?

Hi .. I found that Cruise Critic had this information as well. Here is the link.

A question about the deposit. If you transfer a reservation and only paid a $500 deposit, are they going to charge you an extra $100 or just consider the deposit paid? :confused3

I was just trying to estimate pricing. I think the WB TA will be a lot cheaper, but it will depend on what airfare you can get. Aer Lingus offers a good one way fare to London via Dublin out of Dulles, so I'm betting that itinerary will be cheaper for you. I would love to do the WB TA, but can't take the kids out of school - bummer!

I think the 11 night holiday cruise will probably cost about $11,000 for a family of 4 in a category 9 room - including fees and taxes but not insurance or transportation. I estimated based on current holiday rates and on the Baltic pricing (which I think will be closer to holiday pricing due to the time of year). For 2 people, I would figure about $7,000 for cat 9. Not a cheap trip.

As an alternative, if you want a shorter cruise, check out the Thanksgiving week trip. Price wise, its not too bad considering its a holiday time. We booked for 2009, and the price for a cat 9 for a family of 4 (with the 10% onboard discount) worked out to be about $4,500.

We ran into that before, and unfortunately, we had to pay the extra deposit.

You will have to pay the difference.

For our 7/18/07 Med Cruise we booked in November of 2006. We used DVC points and reserved a category 6 and category 11 guarantee. We were assigned rooms prior to sailing that were directly across from each other on deck 6.

OK, so I did a little researching on my own regarding DCL Christmas cruises. I found info stating that the 10 night 2006 Christmas cruise started at $2399.00 pp. I can only say, WOW.:scared1: Keeping in mind this was 3 yrs ago, I can only imagine what the price for the 2010 Christmas cruise will be. Maybe that is why DCL is keeping that info a secret until Monday, so that I won’t faint until then.

We really would have preferred the Christmas cruise, but even after factoring in airfare to Spain, the TA looks to be less expensive.

Any thoughts?

I think you're right. I think the TA will be the way to go. I'm jealous!!

Question 2 .. What if you booked onboard and only had to pay the 50% deposit. If your TA transfers your ressie, are you required to pay the whole deposit, or just the differenct between the 50% you paid and 50% of the required deposit?

Is anyone else confused???

I was wondering the same thing. I guess I will find out when my credit card is charged. I figure I have to pay it anyway so if I pay the $600 a person then it's less I owe on my cruise.
