2010 news from the Magic

Before Steph found this I had been looking for months trying to confirm that it was the Baltic, even tonight I have looked at Southampton UK, Harwich UK, both possible home ports, I have looked at the port of St Petersburg.

Try Bermuda, for transatlantics, try Lisbon or Madeira for either TA or another Europe cruise. Gibraltar Cadiz Spain and Ternerife.

Andrew is the one I followed...from the med research. He would have found it if not for me being bored sunday morning and seeing the names of some baltic ports. I'm sure that there is someone out there who knows exactly whats being planned and just won't let the cat out of the bag. Which sucks for us, cause now tons of people will book tentative cruises and drive up the prices and then research and realize that they can't do it...so they'll cancel, but the prices will still be high.
I guess disney does their homework all the way around! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

The disadvantage of opening bookings SO far in advance of the cruise dates is that many people won't know now if they can really take the cruise until it gets much closer. That's not as big of a problem as the multiple-bookings that drive-up the prices immediately, and the duplicates definitely do get cancelled.

The problem with this is that the duplicates all come in at about the same time and that is what drives up the prices. Canceling them 1 or 2 days later doesn't lower the prices. The best thing to do is to have one TA get a reservation for you or do it yourself and transfer the reservation later. If you do both because you are afraid either the TA won't get it or you won't get it, you are driving pricing up.

Anyone remember when the deep cat 12 discounts came out for the Med cruises? Steph? For my cruise, I seem to remember the prices coming out about 8 weeks beforehand, but my memory is hazy.

I think it was after the 90 day window or could have been a few days before.

No not exactly,

What happens is 1st tier pricing is available for a certain percentage of rooms to be sold, in each CAT, then it bumps up,

For Panama repo cruises it has gone up in hours, maybe mins first day, for some of the 2009 Carribean trips it took months for 1st tier to sell out.

Past Med cruises did sell quickly but not as fast as Panama repos, so you do not need to panic, it might stick for the frist day as you say.

The main problem is multiple instructions, if some cruisers instruct more than one TA, thoose cabins are 'taken' out of sale for 48 hours, that bumps up as if they have bee sold, but it doesnt bump back down if they are returned unsold to sotck.

According to Alan at DCL, the 1st tier pricing no longer lasts all day the first day. The price changes as the ship is booked.

I had this problem on the 1st day of booking for the PC cruise that was this last May, 2008. I finally got through about 2 hours after booking opened, but did not get the same price as others who booked 2 hours prior. I emailed back and forth with Alan at DCL. He said the 1st tier pricing doesn't stay in effect the whole day like it used to.

So, start calling the minute the booking window opens!

if the last day showing Copenhagen is Juy 21, that puts the end of that cruise somewhere around the end of July. any thoughts or indications on where the Magic will be in August? will she do the transatlantic back to FL at the beginning of August or wait until mid/end of August as has been done before?

On the possibility of "sea testing," I can't say I know much about it, but would DCL really be stopping in Copenhagen every 12 days if this is sea testing? Seems like that's a pretty regular "summer away from the Caribbean" schedule to me...

I'm a little behind the times here. When will these bookings be opening? I'd love to go back to Europe.

Bookingbuddy.com and kayak.com are also two sites that are great for looking for international airfare.

Has anyone been like me and lurking over at the cruise critics Europe boards.

I've been copying links to private tour companys for some of the possible ports and saving them in a folder on my web browser.

I have flown to London this past February and last April. Last April I only paid about $575 roundtrip with taxes and this past Feb I paid $725 per person (both on Virgin Atlantic). My DD is going back to London on Friday and her fare was over $800....she booked about 2 months ago.

I think it was around 4 months before because I could have cancelled my points and rebooked at the lower rate..but it's hazy for me too.

Summer fares are substantially higher, but I did notice that for a one way fare, Virgin had the better rates. Is your DD flying Virgin for her upcoming trip? which airport?

DD is flying on Continental out of EWR into Gatwick but returns from Heathrow...

I booked 6 weeks before Med Cruise for parent's in law!! They got very good prices for Cat 12.

I am thinking maybe Magic might stay in Europe in 2010 after Batlic?? Why Disney Cruise's office based in London??

New ship will be ready by 2011 and 2012?? Am I correct?

I wonder if new ship go out by 2010 to USA?

Maybe I am wrong??

Would be great if they left the magic here too as agree no need for the office if there is no ship/s.

OOHH, I like the idea of leaving the Magic in Europe. Or at least the idea that it's not coming back to PC. The captain said the first ship would be delivered "late 2010" so the Magic would only be on the road 6 months. And fall is the off season anyway in the carribean.

OK, now I'm getting really excited. But how will I pick a cruise if they go more than one place in Europe???
