2010 news from the Magic

Does anyone know when the NPS will make their decision concerning the proposals for Glacier Bay? If it's not in the next couple weeks, I would think 2010 will not be an option. 2010 itineraries are supposed to be announced in early October.

So maybe it will be Europe 2010 and Alaska starting in 2011.

For what it's worth, I was on the Wonder last week, and inquired of one of teh officers at the Castaay Club party where the Magic would be going in 2010. He said back to the Mediterranean, and schedule would be released in the next 2 months.

I see alot of repo'ers on this thread. I am in the process of moving two reservations that I made on board on two different cruises to dreams in order to get ready for the special cruises. If the last two years have taught me anything, it is that I cannot miss any opportunity to make special memories with the people I love. If there are special cruises, repos, transatlantics and so forth, I am going to try to get in on it.

If I were you, I would hang onto your onboard bookings and book your own cruises on the special itineraries. THEN transfer it to Dreams. If you transfer it first, only they can move it for you - and you don't know where you are in their pile, so to speak.

Very interesting! Where are the sleuths who sniffed out the Med ports the Magic would visit in 2007? :teeth:

When I was on the Western in 2005, it was my server who told me about the Mediterranean for summer 2007 - a full year and a half in advance. Apparently, they were already discussing food service.

I think the Med makes more sense for 2010 and then adding AK in 2011. I'm a bit bummed though - don't think I can afford 4 more summer flights to Europe. Oh well - will just have to wait a little longer for Alaska.

I remember that person too...she was P****ed~!;)

Well if they get it, then there will have to be a repo by 2011. I know what I am doing.

We can have a reunion! Hope everyone is doing good.

Hey Gydell, I am doing okay. I got hit with a major depression when I got home from the cruise and the medication I am taking is taking the edge off but I am certainly not back to normal. I am trying to keep my head up and do the best I can. I am planning and booking cruises so I can have something to look forward to.

I am hoping that it will be either Alaska or the Med. I really would like to do another repo or a transatlantic, and then follow it up with a special itinerary cruise. But we will have to see what is announced.

Well, I wasn't sure what to do. In any case, I could just move those to other cruises further out than 2010 I guess, if I booked with DCL directly. I guess I will wait and see what the itineraries are and then figure out how to proceed.

I agree Jodie...I can't do another med cruise. Love too but the repos won't work with my dd's school and the price is so high against the dollar in europe! I will keep my fingers crossed for cali but if not 2010 then we'll have 2011! They are coming out here for sure for a while so I'll be able to do 3, one in 2011 (repo!) Alaska in 2012 and Mexico in 2013. I guess I'll be cruising another line or heading to hawaii in 2010 if disney goes to the med. Although, I could be talked into one if disney spreads out their itin. Remember how tired we all were. No time to relax at all with all the port stops. The panama was so different. I really enjoyed the ship. I had no idea of all the things I missed while sailing in the med.

Reunions sound good to me! Hi tammy, gydell, granmaz, calmom from PC and Pillow from Med!

Hi.:wave2: I loved the sea days and hopefully whichever cruise we choose we will have lots of those to enjoy. Sorry you won't manage the a repo if timings are the same as have been.

Okay ... I haven't even been on my first cruise yet and already wondering what will be available for 2010 so I can rebook ... the meditteranean would be incredible.

Please oh please let this be bookable when I am on my cruise the end of October.

:cool1:

You know, Mike and I both said we wouldn't do another destination cruise like the Med for that very reason. We felt rushed in the ports and then felt we didn't get enough time onboard the ship. If I go to Europe again, it would probably be a land trip where I can take my time and explore. Or maybe spend a week in Europe and then hop on a cruise. I definitely left the Med cruise feeling like I didn't get enough time onboard. I think another European trip will have to wait until the kids are grown and out of the house. There are so many places in the US we haven't been. We really want to get to some of the National Parks - could do 2 -3 of those trips for what a European cruise trip would cost.

Just rebook a "dummy" date when you're on your October trip. Then when the 2010 itinerary comes out, just call and transfer your "dummy" reservation to the cruise you really want.

This summer I spent some time exploring my area and realized all of the stuff I miss in california ...and I live here. This summer I'm thinking I'll do a week at the beach and explore there. Just relaxing and kicking back. All of this is dependent on where the magic goes. It's just pathetic to think that I'm waiting to see what a cruise line is doing when there are hundreds of other cruise lines out there to travel on! Disney is the best though!

I have to admit that I'm hesitant to cruise another line. We enjoy Disney so much, and after reading that cruise bruise web site, I feel like its the safest as well. I would like to try RCCL at some point though. And yes, you have such great options being out West. Did I mention that my brother is moving to Montrose, CO? I'm really looking forward to visiting and traveling around out there.

I visited Denver a couple of summers ago. It was fun. Very pretty. Made me feel like I should be more athletic...but na! hahaha

Cool, I'm trying to talk DH into trying to book a cruise when we are on the Boat in November, I'll have to do some research on the sale of the points thing, so I can approach him with the details. Otherwise he'll just say NO!:rolleyes1 Thanks so much for the tip! BTW, we have used DVC points on the last 3 cruises, and gotten a Cat. 4 the last 2 times, then paid cash for the youngest daughter. Are you saying it would have been better to sell the points and just bought the cruise outright?

Personally, I wouldn't mess with renting points out to a stranger...a lot of people do it successfully, but there's lots to go wrong with that plan too. But I wanted to suggest is that you visit the DVC boards here on the DIS...there are 3 of them just for DVC!! Operations, Planning and Mousellaneous. These are the boards to find answers about renting out your points.

And then there is also a board devoted specifically to renting points - it's called The DVC Rent / Trade Board!!:goodvibes

Have you had problems renting out before? I've never done it but was under the impression thats its pretty easy. If you require 100% payment up front before putting the res in the purchasers name, what can go wrong? We're planning on renting out some points within the next year - curious.

Well, the renter could trash the room. Would DVC hold the owner responsible? I don't know, but, there was a story about a DVC owner whose brother stayed in DVC as his guest, and used his room key as a charge card and they contacted the DVC owner to pay the bill. The brother paid the bill as he should have but what if that error had been an anonymous renter? I am not trying to use any scare tactics but, well, I am a little scared of renting since I heard that story.

I can't wait to see the new itinerary.

Me 2... I think I would love to do the med.. since I didn't get to on the first one... not to keen on Alaska though, to many stories of  people... and I dont do cold.. :lmao: :lmao:

It will be neat to know where they plan on going next... I am really :yay: about the new ships... :surfweb: waiting to see something on where they plan to go...:upsidedow
