**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

We are thinking of doing a French Regional Lunch on Oct 22--Bordeaux. This will be my first F&W experience. Can anyone enlighten me on what this is like and what we can expect. There isn't much written about this that I can find.

The French Regional Lunch last year was excellent. It's definitely something we're planning to do again. We like Bistro de Paris anyway. The portions were more than enough food, service was good, very nice wine.

I think I still have photos from last year to post. Gotta find them (I'm very bad about getting them all on here). When I do start up a thread, I'll let you all know.

Just curious which you all think will fill up first:

10/16 Wine School w/ Andrea Robinson

10/22 French Regional Lunch (Bordeaux)

We want to do both but I'm not sure which to ask for first!

Quick question for y'all- which events, if any, have a Tables in Wonderland discount?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't read this entire thread so sorry if this has been answered, but is it confirmed we can use snack credits for the food kiosks?

It hasn't been 'confirmed' for this year yet. I think everyone surmises that will be the case based on previous years experience.

That's a toughy! You really need to ask yourself which one do you want to do the most, then go from there. I think they are about the same for capacity with the FRL allowing 75 guests and the WS having room for 60.

I am so glad I found this sticky. My daughter and I will be doing a mother daughter trip for Food and Wine Festival. We don't know alot about it, but this thread will help us to decide when we should go. Thanks. Can't wait to finish reading, I'm only on page 4.

I've been to quite a few of the FRLs. (Red Wine only). If you are not a picky eater, don't plan another meal that day. It's a three course, typical French Lunch (Entree, Plat, Dessert) with amuse bouche to start. Wines are free flowing so unless you are careful, you will leave with a buzz. The entrees are ususally the most interesting and the plat can frequently be a filet de boeuf. Service is stellar, as is expected in the Bistro. The wine merchant has always been entertaining and informative. I think it is one of the best values in the fest.

This sounds like something my DH and I would like to do, I have not seen this listed before (I am sure I just missed it), can anyone point me in the right direction to where this is listed as an event and what days they are offered?

Someone said the site we are getting the information from is a 'management' site. It is not the official Disney site for the F&WF information. That site will be 'live' on July 12th. So please remember most special event information reported has not been confirmed by Disney ... French Regional Lunches.

Thanks so much for the info, and I will wait for the live site....

Shhhhhhhhh, don't tell! :goodvibes We went to 2 last year and loved them.

Should a Signature Dining be the first request? We are thinking the Portobello dinner (hope it's a good one). And:

Tutto pairing
Tokyo Dining pairing
French Regional Lunch
possibly Family & Friends

Yeah, way more than we've ever done before. We've never done Party of the Senses either. It sounds pretty nice, but don't like standing in lines to get food and the idea of not having a seat.

How would you prioritize the above?

Another question, has Jens Dahlmann done a dinner before? I'm pretty sure he is amazing, I wonder what his dinner would be like.

I'm kind of disappointed, I was hoping for some of the more popular Food Network Stars. I was really hoping that there would be an appearance with Guy Fiera like at Disneyland!

Jens Dahlman did a dinner last year. I'm considering doing it again this year. California Grill too. Possibly considering V&A.

Looks as though the only Food Network representation may be Cat Cora, although we don't have full official announcements yet. Have noted that Food Network hosts two of their own festivals every year (one in Miami and one in New York) and that if you want to see Food Network stars those might be worth a look.

For the person asking about prioritizing, I'd book the pairings first. The Tutto pairing may go pretty quickly although I'm not sure if it will sell out the opening day. (When they used to do pairings in Le Cellier, those would sell out within 10 minutes.)

I was wondering about that too, I did expect to see another name or two from Food Network.
When we were in Hilton Head last month, there was mention Robert Irvine would be doing something at the Festival, looking forward to seeing what he is lined up for!

Robert usually shows up, they may not have his participation dates firmed up yet.

I've been to a Jens Dahlmann dinner a couple years ago, back when he was the executive chef at California Grill. The theme was vegetarian, which initially didn't thrill me when I found out. But I gave it a chance and was happy I did. They did put in a halibut course as an optional request ahead of time, so it worked out well for me. They won me over, even though I'm definitely a meat eater. I would definitely do another dinner of his, but I won't be at WDW during that time period.
