Anybody used these tickets yet? I am wondering because my base doesnt have any available tickets for our trip next week, so I am wondering where to purchase them down there? Does it have to be at SoG?

You can get them at any WDW ticket window. Just have to show your id. They'll be activated right away, saving you a step. If you get them at SoG, you'll save tax on the tickets, but have to make an additional stop to get them activated.

This may sound convoluted and strange - but can you use other tickets and "upgrade" to the military tix? In other words, I will have GADGAD freebies (face value $79), can I take these and $20 additional dollars and upgrade them to the 4 day military tix? Thanks!

I tried to read through all of this, but would like to make sure I can do this. Trying to plan a little family get together for DH's family, we have AP's so don't need the tickets for ourselves, so can we purchase the 6 tickets and let my DH's family use them? One of us would be with them to activate.

And I guess I am understanding it correctly that we have to buy all six at one time. I was hoping we could buy one now and the rest later, my DMIL is coming in March just for the Flower and Garden Festival and would only use one day at that time, but would then return in July for the reunion.

In an effort to keep everyone informed... here's my story:

  • We got & used these tickets last year and have now bought them again for this year.
  • My father-in law- retired Air Force- bought them at Patrick AFB in FL. with no trouble (he actually bought vouchers there... get to that in a minute).
  • My father-in law got vouchers for himself, his wife, my husband, me & our 2 kids. Last year he got us all the same (ticket + park hopper + water park & more option). This year he got he & his wife base tickets and me, my husband & 2 kids tickets with park hopper & water park & more options. No problem splitting it up like that.
  • Last year we were staying at BC and were able to activate our vouchers at the International Gateway at EPCOT.
  • My father-in-law had to be there along with all of us at the ticket counter to activate the tickets.
  • After that first day, we (my husband, me & kids) were able to visit parks separately from my father-in-law (as though they were just regular tickets).
I'm so happy that Disney has made this offer.. and offered it agin this year. It has been a huge cost saver and meant that we have been able to have a trip to Disney- with grandparents:)- that we would not have done otherwise!

hope my experience helps answer any questions anyone has. In 2009 we were under the impression that we could not activate the tickets at the IG. This was a HUGE bummer since we were staying at BC. We figured we would give it a try anyway and it was no problem! Hope this info is helpful for those who want to stay at an EPCOT resort and enter on the first day through the IG to EPCOT.

I've called SOG and Disney and can't get a straight answer, so maybe y'all can help!

My husband is in the AF and we're planning a trip this summer. We've invited family members to come along. My husband and I are NOT using the promotion (we're staying longer) does this mean that we can purchase 5 discounted tickets for our other family members?

OR do we (my husband and I) have to purchase one of the tickets for ourselves as well.

Sounds like a crazy question, I know, but I just want to make sure that there are no surprises once we get there!

Thanks!

Erin

The service member may purchase and activate up to six tickets during the period of the promotion. The spouse, if unaccompanied by the service member, may purchas up to five tickets. The maximum combined purchase of both the service member and spouse is six tickets.

Hi all, I've read many of the pages here and didn't see an answer to my question. My brother will be joining is this next trip (his 1st trip!!:thumbsup2)and he is active USAF. If free dining isn't released we will use the 40% off military room only discount. We have 3 adults and 2 kids. I was wondering if he could get his 6 tix for 4 days each and then just have the 3 adults use them for a total of 8 days? I would then just purchase my kids tix elsewhere.

Has anyone done this? Or know any reason why it wouldn't work?

Thank you!!

Hi! :wave2: I don't believe these questions were asked, but there are 14 pages so I very well could have missed them. Sorry if I did! Anyway, my family and I are looking into going to WDW twice this year. :woohoo: and would love to take advantage of the 40% off a hotel room. My husband (active duty) may not be able to come with us during our first trip. If he is not, can I (with a spouse ID) check us into the hotel with the 40% off or does he have to be present? I know with a spouse ID I can get the tickets, just wondering about the hotel.

Also, can we take advantage of the 40% off on both trips or can you only use it for one trip? I hope that all makes sense. :) TIA!

I can only answer part of the question. Your husband does not need to be with you. My husband will be deployed at the time we are going. I have already made ressies and I will going to get the the tickets at our ITR. I will bring a copy of his orders just because I am OCD like that. I hope this helps.

I went without my DH last year and used the tickets and received the hotel discount just by showing my ID. No questiosn asked.

Thanks so much! Just wanted to clear it up. :) I really appreciate your responses.

In case anyone was interested, I called today to book my March ressies at Pop and the lady said that we could use the 40% off during both trips since they fall among the valid dates. She also said, though, that my husband would have to be present in order for us to get the 40% off. Hmmmm, I don't know about that. Since Duckyiam71 and vettegirl said they had no issues, I am totally going to call back and talk to someone different. Maybe the lady I talked to just didn't have the correct info. I know that happens sometimes.

Update: So I called again just to ask about the discount and the guy did verify that it is okay to check in with a spouse ID like the others said. Thanks again, Duckyiam71 and vettegirl!

Does anyone know why this deal only goes thru 9/30? :confused3 I'm holding out hope for an extension thru the end of the year...My husband is deployed & doesnt' return home until late Sept, so we were planning a trip down in early December this year. I think it's really wonderful they are offering a discount again this year - I hope lots of military families are able to use it!! :goodvibes

I am hoping they extend it too:wizard:

I got the same confusion last year. They had to check if I could come without my husband. Of course they came back and said yes. I ended up using the FD discount instead, as it saved me more and just bought the salute tickets. This year I booked the discount as well and didn't even ask. I did however ask how many rooms I could book as a GF and her children may join us. So if anyone else needs to know.....it's 3 at one time under 1 ID.

regards

i tried searching the thread for an answer to my question, but no luck.
my dad is USN Ret.
i was wondering if i can purchase the Armed Forces salute tix at a base outside of Florida. i am in California, and wondering if the $99/4 day tix's would be available at any of the bases in San Diego...Miramar, 32nd AFB, or Camp Pendleton, etc...?
tia!

Call the MWR/ITT office at the bases. They will tell you if they have the tickets available or can order them..

Note that he or his wife would have to be the one to buy them and also must be present at the park to activate them.

I have a 14 day bounceback offer booked -- free dining for 3A, 2C. Can I combine that with the 40% room discount?

From my understanding you can't 'piggyback' discounts, it would have to be one or the other.

My daughter got hers in San Diego but call first because sometimes they have to order them.

How do you get the 40% off discount? Just by calling? I looked through the pages trying to figure it out and couldn't see if I need to call or if there is a code I need or if it is still going on?? And is it only good at SOG or all Disney Hotels?
