I just got off the phone with Disney reservations. I was given some pricing for April, 2009 but was told "Nobody books right now because the prices are so high". I asked if I could book now and switch to a package once they come out and the CM told me, "That would be very difficult and they may not do that for you". What????

First of all, I can't believe that Disney doesn't have 2009 prices out yet. For those going in January, 2009 - that's only 9 months away. The CM says they won't have pricing out until late summer. So you mean to tell me that some folks will be able to book their dining reservations before their accommodations? That's absurd.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't understand the wait.

Is it always like this? I've never booked this far in advance, but really want to (especially with my Federal Tax Credit coming soon!!!).

I'm not sure why she told you the part I put in "bold". You can book a room, then add a package later. I've done that before, and my friend does it every year. LOTS of people do that. I just booked for end of FEB 2009 with no problem...CM just told me that the price is not guaranteed (will probably go up when 2009 prices are released). Packages are not usually available until sometime after July, I think. And then there is usually a discount that will be released a few months before your trip date (keep checking DIS boards to get that code!) I remember being aggravated having to wait so long last year, too.

You CAN book your dining reservations early...they won't affect your room/package bookings at all. I've also done that before with no problems.

BTW - I'm really excited because my best friend just booked her room, too! We're linking ressies so that we can hopefully get rooms near each other. Our families will plan to meet for a few character meals, parades & fireworks, and a little time in the parks together!

I am so excited that I found this thread! We are going to WDW Jan 21-29, 2009. DH and I have been several times, but never together. And we are bringing DS (5) and DD (3). We have our flights booked, and have booked a family suite at All Star Music. Planning on adding the dining plan in Aug, when the rates come out.
We are also planning Christmas around our trip. I have started getting some Disney apparel and items for the kids. I am picking it up when I see it.

Count us in for 2009 too! We were planning on skipping a year but BIL & SIL want to go for the 1st time. Since I am the resident Disney expert they want to plan a trip together. Don't have to ask me twice. We are planning late Feb early March 2009 at POP. Let the planning begin...

We had talked about it, but now we are seriously considering postponing our March 2009 trip until September 2009. Our baby will be about 8-9 months old at that time. We just know that the money we have saved and would have saved for our March 2009 trip may be needed for our little one. It's still in the "thinking" stages, but I'm about 75% sure we'll be moving it to September 2009. If we do we'll stay during free dining, upgrade to the deluxe plan, and hopefully still stay at AKL.

I can't believe I've only just found this thread! We're planning for 2009 - April 24th from Gatwick. We have 2 weeks in a villa then a week in Sanibel. Not sure where we're staying in Sanibel yet - the villa we had last time isn't available, but there are loads of lovely places there.

I am sooooo excited! My boss went very pale when I said I needed 3 1/2 weeks off next April

We have the villa booked already (actually it's been booked for nearly a year already!!), the flights will be available to book in a few weeks.

I can't believe that I am on these boards everyday and just found this thread!!! Congrats to everyone on your plans! We are headed out (me, DH, DD(5), DS(3), DD(17 months), DILs, DBIL, DSIL, for a Grand Gathering at and OKW Grand Villa in January. My DH thinks I am nuts for planning this far out. Actually, I was thinking of doing some white t-shirts with mickey heads on the front, then doing each of our names in mardi gras colors "cut-outs" across the mickey head. I figured we could wear them mardi gras day. Of course, I have to figure out how to do the name cut-outs in photoshop. I saw directions in the DISigns thread that I'm going to try...

I'm sure we'll bring some beads, too.
