2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

You know they started a 12 step program for people like you, but every time they met, they spent the time planning the next trip...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Kind of defeated the purpose and fed the beast instead..:lmao: :lmao:

I do the extra toothbrush, hairbrush bit because I like the bags to be zipped the night before, but I only pack a few days before or we end up taking way too much stuff.

We have extra toothbrushes, hairbrushes, etc. too, that always stay in the travel toiletry bag. A few weeks before any trip, I'll buy an extra deoderant for each DH and I, more mini shampoos, etc -all the stuff we need so that everything can be packed the night before (we often leave middle of the night). Last trip I even packed a new set of contacts, new contact case and new bottle of solution. It was time for new stuff anyways and that way it was all set.

I try not to pack too early, either, cause then I just keep adding stuff!! We drive, and there's only 4 of us in a Stow N' Go minivan, so we can basically take anything we want but I don't want to take that much! I will say - I've gotten accostomed to a washer/dryer on our beach vacations, so nice to come home with very little laundry. I'd love to stay at a Villa at Disney with a separate bedroom and laundry (probably wouldn't use the kitchen much, other than the fridge!). I think the Poly needs villas!!!

So, has anyone heard any rumors as to the "theme" for 2009? YOAMD (or 2 years, LOL) was a good one, I wonder what's next? Or will there be one at all? I'm thinking they'll have one, as the economy slides ever downward, attendance might start slipping off.

Anyone know when the "themes" are typically announced?

I've been wondering what it would be also if anything. The YOAMD started the day after our last trip so we missed out.

The day after? That stinks!! We got one dream, a great one - Dream Fast Passes at Epcot!!

I like your style! :thumbsup2
I thought about doing that, but thought that might be a bit overboard...but hearing you say it out loud--or write it out loud--makes it seem ok. I'm know what I'm doing this weekend while DH is away! "Disney Box" here I come! Now, where will I hide, I mean, store it? You know. For safe keeping.

The attic is a good place. It kinda blends in with all the other boxes - KWIM?

"Disney Box" I like it!:thumbsup2
And of course you don't have a problem! That would me we all have a problem.

Phew! I was worried there...just for a minute. ;) Now my DH would tell you I definitely have a problem! I told him he's lucky that DW is the only thing I'm addicted to! :flower3:

I promised myself I would wait awhile before asking about favorite places to eat. Just can't wait anymore!

What are your favorite character meals? There are a few princess ones, so which is your favorite? Favorite "grown-up" place to eat (planning on letting the kids do one night of the kids club so we can go out to eat and ride a few rollercoasters)?

Any other tips, let 'em roll (I know there is another section on this, but if we're going to hang together for the next 2 years, I'd rather here it from you all here ;) )

C'mon...let's get the dining ball rolling :woohoo: !

I don't really have favorites yet but on our next trip we are doing lots of character meals and it is just DH and I and we are in our 30's!!! They are so fun though. Last trip he complained because he didn't get to meet any princesses so I am taking him for lunch at the castle. Then we are doing Liberty Tree Tavern, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Garden Grill and Tusker House Character breakfast.

Next trip my mom will be coming with us and it's her first visit so I want to do lots of character meals. Chef Mickey's and Garden Grille are definites. We'll probably do 'Ohana again. And I'm also thinking of CRT for my mom (and me too) - although I'll have to bribe my boys by telling them that they'll get a sword. :headache: I'd also like to eat at Sci-Fi and Mama Melrose (Fantasmic pkg) again . A couple that I haven't done but want to try...Whispering Canyon and the new Donald's Safari Breakfast.

I'm hoping to fly on Thanksgiving Day and stay through the following Saturday, so that should give us time for all this eating! :)

Our plan is to go to WDW with our ENTIRE family....so Disney might not be the only thing I am addicted to by the time I'm done planning this trip!

I have heard good things about the Princess meal at Epcot (sorry...the name of the restaurant escapes me, but it starts with an 'E'). How does that compare to CRT?

I could hide a Disney box in plain sight in the laundry room....he would never look inside it for fear he would have to do something with it. :lmao:

I want to try that princess meal at Epcot, I am trying to find a way to convince my sons we should eat there. Does anyone know how lunch or dinner there is??
This is one time that I am hoping that my older son's hormones have started to kick in and girls no longer have cooties especially disney princesses. :lmao: :lmao:

Now that I would believe! Once a box sits for a while, it becomes part of the room. In fact, I'm looking at a box of DH's old baseball cards right now. He was going to move it up to the attic, but it's been sitting in this room for three months. I really don't think he even sees it anymore. :confused3

When planning the dining end of our trips, I live and die by allears.net. Here's the current princess meals at epcot...

Here's lunch:

and here's dinner:

And here's CRT...

I always wanted to eat in the castle, not with the princesses, but in the castle, so we started doing the dinner...

Getting an ADR for that one isn't an Olympic event. Just like any other restaurant.

We tend to like the breakfast Character Meals. Something about starting the day with the characters, while we are all fresh and awake is well, so magical! Even DHGrumpy isn't even grumpy yet!

We have enjoyed O'Hana at the Polynesian (twice) and Goofy's Beach Club breakfast at Cape May as well as Chef Mickey's. The first two were our favorites. For table services, we loved Sci Fi Dine In and Mama Melrose.

We like to start out the vacation with a Character Meal and end the vacation with one. We had the DDP during our last trip, but probably won't next time. It just became too much food -- and too much time out of our day. When I tallied up what we spent vs. what we would have spent without the DDP, it wasn't worth it for us. Going to WDW is a budget-stretch for us, so if we can save some $$ on food, we will try to.

That being said, this next trip WILL include a Princess meal of some kind and a meal at the Crystal Palace. Yes, we have 2 boys, but this trip is MOM's CHOICE! Being the only female in this household, I need to stand my ground once in a while. :<)
