2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Stacey- you can do room-only ressies 500 days in advance I think it is, but you have to do them over the phone.

I kind of think it's silly that they wait until August to release SO MUCH info - room prices, package info, etc. I mean it's fine for me, going in May, but for January travelers?? That's not much lead time! And, it's after their 180 for ADR's. I think that should be the bare minimum - all the info out at least 180 days before the start of the year, but oh well!!

I'm even a little nervous about the park hours calendars - I know they're typically released 6 months in advance (prior to ADRs), but since we're going on the 1st of May - I hope they are out so I can have at least a day to plan/reconfigure as needed before calling.
I totally agree! I have figured out our itenerary based on 08 dates until the 09 dates come out and then I will tweak our itenaray. I don't want to have to wait for August!! WHaaa! Okay now I sound like my children! LOL

Good morning, everyone!
I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far. I can't believe it is already April!

It has been forever since I have been on the disboards. Well, it seems like forever....only a week.:rotfl:

I am changing my plans, once again.:sad2: We just came back from visiting my MIL and she told me that she cannot make it to WDW next year. So it will be just me, DD and DH.

And....now my graduation has been pushed back to late June and I am not wanting to celebrate at a crowded-middle-of-summer-madness at WDW. We have decided to push it back to late Sept.

Anyone else planning that time of year?

We are going Sept. 12-22nd. We were planning on going to POP again but I think we talked ourselves into POR.

Hi 2009 Planners!
I haven't been on this thread in a while either. I've been trying to finish my TR (shameless plug :) )! I'm waiting not-so-patiently to book in August too - although I've decided to book room only instead of a package. I'm waiting until the AAA rates come out to book. Then I may switch to the AP rate if the discounts are good enough. My girlfriends and I are talking about a 40th birthday trip in fall of 2010 and I have them almost convinced to go to WDW. If that trip happens, I will definitely get an AP! :woohoo:

My girlfriends and I are doing our 40th trip this summer and I couldn't convince them to go to Disney. We are going to the Mall of America instead. Although it won't be anywhere near what a trip to Disney would be for me at least they have a Disney store :yay: So I can at least do a little shopping while I am there. So unless we get an awesome deal this fall that hubby and I can't pass up we will be there next June.

I think that was a good decision!! The suites are so limited, I wouldn't wait, either! I have not booked room-only and am just waiting for the pkgs, b/c we just want the standard, garden-view at the Poly during a non-busy time. Just doesn't seem to be much point. "Special" rooms or peak times - definitely book room-only first to get your preference!

I'm so relieved that we have our room. DH is too...he thinks this means I'm done planning...
If only he KNEW...when he gets home tonight I'll start in with "honey, where do you want to eat when we get to Disney?"
MWAHaHaHaHa:lmao:

I think we are all itching to book! Can't believe we have to wait till Aug. And also, how come you can't book multiple rooms on the website? :confused3
You think Disney would have this all perfected by now. Must be a good reason.

Input needed. We are booked Jan 24-29, 2009, I just found out that SuperBowl is Feb 1. Do you think the Orlando airport will be extremely busy on our departure and secondly do you think ppl will be vacationing at disney days prior to the big game? For those that dont know Superbowl will be in Tampa. I am thinking maybe busy airport on departure day, but my husband said we can tell Disney Express our flight is actually an hour or so earlier than really scheduled so we can arrive at the airport with a good bit of extra time. Your input and expertise is appreciated.

They are agreeable IF we also do a couple of days at the beach. I can be flexible, as long as I get my Disney fix!

Alright, my trip is booked and I need support to help me get through the next 429 days until we go. :surfweb: We've got an awesome trip planned. We're going June 6-13, 2009. We've currently got 24 people (children included) going. We've rented two houses in Windsor Hills (if anyone is looking for a great deal on either a 5BR or 6BR, I can suggest one!).

During this trip, we will be having 3 birthdays. My co-worker's son turns 16, my sister-in-law turns 22, and my oldest DD will turn 8. This trip was more of a get together for alot of our friends, but my wife and I initiated it. Our 10th anniversary is next year and we kept discussing where we'd want to go w/o the kids. A cruise...nope, already did that, maybe Paris, Italy, somewhere exotic....nope, DW doesn't like going out of the country. Finally, we decided we wanted to go with our kids, family, and friends to Disney. That was our initiative.

Now we've got 24 people going to Disney, with many of them being first timers and their children so it will be absolutely amazing! We're so excited.

Wanted to update you all on my october 2009 trip. It looks like there will be 7 of us so far, dsil is not sure about going yet or not. Our trip will be October 3-10. We will Probably be renting a home at Windsor Hills. Dragitoff, what 5br did you rent. We have been looking at Mickey's Clubhouse if there would be 10 of us. If only 7 of us go, we will go down to a 4br. We will be doing WDW, US/IOA, and Seaworld. I can't wait to plan our days! We are going to give dsil another month or so to decide, then we are going to start finalizing the house we want to rent. All suggestions on windsor hills would be appreciated. Our last trip we stayed on property and did WDW only. This will be a new adventure for my family. Happy planning everyone!:)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.... So you have a *little* longer than I do.... Something awesome happened today and I have to share!! We are planning a March 2009 trip and DH has been ok with going, but not thrilled.... We are also hoping to start a family very soon Out of nowhere he tells me today that he wants to do Disney World in March 2009, Land/Sea in February 2010, and Land/Sea in November 2011!!!! He wants to do the 4 night Bahamian cruise and then 7 nights at WDW for the 2010 and 2011 trips.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Who are you and what have you done with my husband???:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

He says he just knows that I enjoy Disney so much and he wants to make me happy. He also said that if we get pregnant soon it will be great to go for the next three years because the little one will not be 3 yet and will be free (except on the sea part of land/sea). I can't believe it!!! I asked him if he was kidding because I'm obsessive and will start planning all of the trips NOW. He said, no he wasn't kidding, he really wants to go. The only slight downside is that after these three trips he wants to wait until our little one is at least 44 inches tall so that he/she can enjoy most of the rides Not a problem with me at all!! I am really super excited!!!

OK, I'm done... I just had to share with all my fellow 2009 buddies!

I don't have any "expertise", but I think that's a great idea!

That sounds like so much fun! Got room for one more :woohoo: ?

He's a keeper!!!!!!!! That's fabulous!!!!!!!

Hi all! I am itching to make my reservation as well...I'm so psyched to see my ticker at 15 months even!!! Ahhhhh, the day it posts at 12 months will be a happy day, indeed :woohoo: !

My coworker is leaving in 8 days (sigh!) and I can't wait for her to get back with dining info! She's trying a few new places that I've been thinking about, so I'm hoping for some great reviews!

I know we're going next year, probably around April. We want to avoid Easter (Easter Sunday is April 12th next year) and was thinking of going the 18th-25th.

Now I'm second guessing that it is still too close to Easter that the crowds will still be heavy and the costs will still be high.

If we push it back a week-25th-2nd of May, we'd be leaving WDW on my bday, which seems a bit depressing. Plus, the idea that one person gets to celebrate a bday at WDW while the rest don't does not seems fair.

WWYD?

This is the 5BR we got. Honestly, you can't find a 4BR for the rate we got this one for.

The owner is very nice and helpful.

We got some amazing news last night. Part of that trip is my baby brother (22) and his wife, who will be turning 21 while we're down there next year. He hasn't been since he was probably 8 or 10 so alot has changed. She hasn't been since she was a little kid and only remembers Figment from Epcot and one or two things from MK. Anyways, they found out yesterday they will have a new addition making his/her first Disney trip! We're so excited!!!! That now makes.....24 on our trip and we actually have 4 more of our friends from church interested!

Hi everyone, just checking in b/c I've been doing some more dining/itinerary thinking!! I've been thinking about Chef Mickey's - we did it for a "brunch" last year and loved that. I have it in the plans for dinner this year - as on our full MK day (when we did brunch last year), DD and I will likely be doing CRT lunch. I'm not a huge breakfast person, but I do LOVE breakfast FOODS (just not early eating) and I was already sad at the thought of missing a good brunch. So...now I'm thinking - what about a brunch on our very last day, right before we leave????? And I'm getting all excited!! Last time we visited MK in the AM, had CS lunch and then headed out for the drive home. I'm thinking - pack up in the AM, do MK 9-11 or so for one last "hurrah", then hop the monorail to CM for "brunch" at 11:30. Kids will get one last good visit in with the "big" characters, and then we'll take the monorail back to the Poly and leave right away. Would that be a good ending to the trip? We'd be plenty full and should be able to get a good 6 hours in before needing to stop for dinner. (We're thinking drive from 1pm-11pm, stop and sleep, and drive 9 hours the next day home). Only thing that worries me is that our CM brunch last time was mid-week. We didn't stand in any long park lines for those characters (though we did see Pluto with little wait) during the week, knowing that we'd be seeing them. Will I feel guilty not letting the kids see Mickey and Minnie sooner if lines are long? Or if I "plan" some character meets earlier (I didn't really pay attention to where they would be last time, again, knowing we would see them), will we get luckier?? We did see the biggies our last night - at the Epcot Character Connection - with next to no wait and it was great. Maybe I just need to find the times for that and get there when it starts on our Day 2?? Should I do CM's earlier in the week, not leave it for the end??? What do you all think???

Sorry for the rambling - I'm thinking as I type here!!

Here's what I'm thinking Itinerary-wise:

Friday, May 1 - arrive in Orlando probably evening and stay off-site

Saturday, May 2- Check in early at Poly and hit MK for opening. Back to Poly when room is ready for naps/swimming. Dinner at Kona and evening at the resort settling in. Wishes, EWP, etc.

Sunday, May 3- Epcot at opening until about 1, Poly for nap, swimming. Dinner at Crystal Palace and MK in evening. Spectro??

Monday, May 4 - Animal Kingdom at opening til 1, Poly for nap, swimming. Dinner at Mama Melrose's, DHS for evening, Fantasmic

Tuesday, May 5- MK at opening. DD and I do lunch at CRT (OOP), DH and DS do CS. Relax in the evening, do CS dinner OR depending on Wed. (see that), do a TS dinner - no idea where!! Probably hang out at Poly for evening. (This is where I was originally thinking CM dinner....)

Wednesday, May 6- Blizzard Beach (hopefully there will be EMH!) till 1 or so. Back to Poly. TS dinner in Downtown Disney. I'm waiting to hear more about T-Rex. Assuming it's open - I know DS would LOVE this! We'd likely pay have to pay OOP for that for dinner - and then could do a TS dinner on Tuesday. If for some reason it IS included on the DDP, then Tues would be a CS dinner (which is FINE!! We'll have 2 CS to use, and DD and I eating the big lunch at CRT - probably could just use snack credits!) Evening shopping at DTD.

Thursday, May 7 - Open day - return to where we want to go!! More time at AK, DHS, or MK? Even Epcot. We could even split up 2/2 here depending on what the kids want! Poly for naps, swimming. Dinner at LeCellier, evening at Epcot, Illuminations.

Friday, May 8- check out at Poly, MK opening to 11, Brunch at CM???? On our way home by 1 PM or so.

***Of course all actual days are subject to change based on park hours, show times, EMH, and CRT availability!!!***

So, after all that... any thoughts or suggestions?? I'm open!!! And, if we end up paying OOP for both CRT (will definitely pay OOP) and T-rex, any thoughts for a 6th TS credit place?? I was strongly considering Ohana's - but not with the menu changes. Could really be anywhere as we don't have evening plans for Tuesday night.

I'm really liking having Thursday morning/early afternoon totally open to do whatever we want to return to or missed. Last year this was our AK day, but neither AK nor DHS were huge hits and with the kids getting older (staying up later, esp. if DS takes a nap!), I'm thinking we can get the "biggies" in at both on Monday. They are adding more stuff (Toy Story) and we'll be able to do more (heights), so I wouldn't be surprised if we head back to one on Thurs. Anyways....

Really so odd this CM idea came to me today - I haven't really been doing any planning!!

Thanks for any input!! This is the planning stuff I really love!!

I know I can post here because you advance planners all understand...

I just booked our trip - July 18 to August 1, 2009 ::MickeyMo :yay:

My DH and sons think I am crazy to be this excited sooo far in advance :rotfl:

The planning continues :surfweb:

Do you think a correlation exists between the amount of time available to plan a WDW trip and the tendency to be a fanatical "commando" planner (insert military smilie here) ?
