2009 DIS Unplugged Super Bowl champs ibleedblue/NO CLUE CREW (update #31)

Just to give a more concrete idea of the standings and who I am talking about, here they are. I don't do this more often because it is a pain to format:

Yep... I definitely got 'hammered' this week. Good Grief! :scared1:

But still in the running! Yea! :yay:

And thanks for the great recaps!

...but Philly Soarin' put up only 46 points while the bench scored 89 - including 25 points from TE Greg Olsen while Visanthe Shiancoe, on a bye week, was left in.

Can't believe I did this. I picked up Olsen on Sat. and forgot to insert him into the lineup.:sad2:.

There isn't a Patriots fan on Earth who stayed up to watch the end of the game and didn't feel like they got sucker punched in the solar plexus. Those who are also Red Sox fans, used to that punch, could only think back to Grady Little...

I understand why he made that decision. But he also gave away 50 yards...but I think if Belichick gets mad at himself for this, I wouldn't want to be the Jets walking in to The Razor this weekend...

At least Larry Johnson has a job again. I wonder if it will be to carry the ball for the Bengals, or to derail them...

Anywho, what really matters...Fantasy Football!!!

In the Magic Kingdom Conference, in the "Someone Had To Lose" game, two of the league leaders, Tink's Hammer and Jungle Cruise Skippers, faced off to se who would remain on top, with the decision going to the Skippers, 94-58. This leaves the Skippers on top at 7-3, tied with Philly Soarin', who won their match against ESPN Club 115-54, earning a Dragonslayer award for themselves, while ESPN Club gets the Low Points award this week. I thought about a double whammy for ESPN Club for leaving LaDainian Tomlinson and Beanie Wells on the bench (season highs 21 and 23 respectively) in favor of Pierre Thomas and Rashard Mendenhall (3 a piece), but that still wouldn't have made a difference in the match.

High Points this week goes to the No Clue Crew, beating former champions Mushu Maniacs 132-62.

In the "Somebody Has To Win, Right?" Big Thunder Mtn Railroad faced off against Wheezy's Warriors to see if BTMR could perhaps pull up into a tie for last place with the Warriors - and they tied 91 points a piece!!!

Over in the ECC, the league leader Plutes Cowboys fell from their perch this week, losing to Mr. Toad Rides Again, 113-72 (and getting a Rookie Fodder award), putting them back in a tie at 7-3 with the Boardwalk Buskers, who beat Pete's Rant 80-62.

High Points this week goes to Doom Buggy for their 121-89 win over Grumpy Dopey, while low points go to Team DoleWhips, falling to the Disney Chiefs in the battle for low points, 65-59.

I still see teams leaving bye players in...that shouldn't matter any more, but there was a rash of injuries...don't make the Commish come knocking...or I'll fine you $250k Disney Dollars like Bud Adams for his wayward fingers...

Big Ben gets his bell rung yet again (yet still is Probable for this week), and his backup will miss six weeks for wrist surgery. Two other QBs were knocked out of action. Bunch of torn ACLs and MCLs and other injuries. As the risk of injury is increasing, playing Fantasy Football in Week 17 is going to be very interesting as more teams pull their stars to save for the playoffs...if there are any left.

Ironically, Big Ben was 7th in scoring (23) among all players this week. And he was on the bench in both conferences.

So, is there any doubt that the newer, bigger helmets are on the way?

Reminder: TRADE DEADLINE is NOON ET TOMORROW!!!!! Not that it really matters. I think we've had three trades in two seasons among 24 teams...

Just 2 weeks left until the playoffs!

The Jungle Cruise Skippers (yours truly) stayed tied at the top of the MKC this week at 8-3 with a close win over ESPN Club 108-104, taking High Points. But, as Club manager Paging Tom Morrow pointed out, if he played this week WITHOUT a Defense (allowed by ESPN league rules), he would have won owing to the -6 showing of the Lions this week. His backup Defense, the Bucaneers, got -7...

Philly Soarin' kept pace at the top of the leaderboard, beating Mushu Maniacs 71-67. The Skippers and Soarin' now hold a two-game lead with third place Tink's Hammer dropping back after a 102-77 loss to Wheezy's Warriors and Reedy Creek Smoke Eaters dropped to Big Thunder Mtn Railroad 90-89 (and get a Rookie Fodder award), putting them in a three way tie with the No Clue Crew. It is interesting that although the Skippers and Soarin' do not face each other in the next two weeks, they face the same two opponents...

Low points this week went to Donald's Pants, who went down to the Fatphil Fanatics 102-59.

The ECC is shaping up similarly...Plutes Cowboys are still tied for first place at 8-3 after walloping Grumpy Dopey 132-81 (taking High Points). Keeping pace is the Boardwalk Buskers, winning 95-83 over Mr. Toad Rides Again. Low Points this week go the Carousel Of Doom, after being spun off by Team Dolewhips 95-64.

It's Thanksgiving Feast (and Famine?) Weekend. Starts with three games on Thursday, concluding with New England vs. the unbeaten Saints at the Superdome on Monday night.

I didn't even watch the end of it...pretty much after the first quarter, it wasn't the same team out there.

The announcers were so hung up talking about the Saints backfield having two players that have been on the team for a combined 3 weeks, while Brees basically tore up the Patriots very young backfield like they were a bunch of 40 year olds playing some touch football after eating Thanksgiving dinner.

You were generally happy if you had Brees in your lineup. More on that later.

We've got just one week left before the playoffs, and the brackets are filling out. But first, the awards for this week...

In the Magic Kingdom Conference, high points went to the Reedy Creek Smoke Eaters for their 122-82 win over Mushu Maniacs, while Low Points went to Big Thunder Mtn Railroad thanks to the dismal performance of the Patriots, losing to the Jungle Cruise Skippers 98-50. Funny that going in to Monday night I didn't feel safe with only a 64 point lead...also, Tink's Hammer picked up a Dragonslayer award for their win over ESPN Club 103-68.

In the EPCOT Center Conference, High Points went to Carousel Of Doom, beating Doom Buggy 118-68. Low Points went to Grumpy Dopey who lost to Brother Bears 77-53 and sealed their fate at the bottom of the ECC.

Now about Brees in your lineup...I haven't figured this one out (well, it's obviously because the points don't add up, but still...) - Pete's Rant had Drew Brees' league-leading 34 points, and fell two points short losing to Mr. Toad Rides Again, who had Kurt Warner as QB - who didn't even suit up...so the Rants got a Rookie Fodder award.

Now, about those playoffs...with one week remaining, we have a good idea of who is in and who is out...

In the Magic Kingdom Conference, the top two slots and a first round bye are locked up by the Jungle Cruise Skippers and Philly Soarin' at 9-3. The Smoke Eaters, No Clue Crew Tink's Hammer are also in at 7-5, with the last slot belonging to the Magic Knights at 6-6 IF they win next week or Donald's Pants, Mushu Maniacs and Fatphil Fanatics all lose. Otherwise it will go to the first of those three in order to win. Last year's league winner Maniacs may not make the playoffs, and conference winner ESPN Club are eliminated.

It's a little more muddled in the ECC so lets see if I get this right, where 3 games separate 1st from 10th. Plutes Cowboys, Boardwalk Buskers and Disney Chiefs are tied for 1st at 8-4 and definitely in. Pluto's Revenge and Mr. Toad are at 7-5 and I believe all scenarios also have them locked in. It appears the last entry is a toss up between the first winner of Doom Buggy, Carousel Of Doom and Brother Bears, with Buggy having a shot at the 5th and perhaps the 4th seed with enough points.

So that's it...

That's a wrap on the regular season!

Before I get into the playoff situation, first the kudos for the last week...

In the Magic Kingdom Conference, we had a High Points vs. Low Points match with Fatphil Fanatics beating Tink's Hammer 113-58. Also, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad gave one last burst at the end to take down former first place team Philly Soarin', to earn Soarin' a Rookie Fodder award.

In the EPCOT Center Conference, High Points went to the Disney Chiefs with a 121-83 win over Grumpy Dopey, and Low Points went to Brother Bears with a loss to T-I-double-guh-err, 87-46.

Now the playoffs...the top 6 teams in each conference face off in a single-elimination tournament to determine the conference champion. The #1 and #2 seeds get a bye this coming week and do not compete at all.

Teams not in the championship bracket, and those that lose, still play each week for bragging rights...High and Low points awards will still be given out!! In Week 17, the two conference champions square off against each other for the League Championship via a manual procedure.

We're guaranteed new champions this season, as the 2008 champs failed to make the playoffs this season. And four out of the five new players this season, including 2009 Rookie Of The Year stitchlover, made the playoffs!

So, here are the final standings/playoff seeds - if teams were tied on record, the tie breaker is total points scored:

It's been a horrible week at work this week, so this is a bit late, and a bit brief...

In the Magic Kingdom Conference, #4 No Clue Crew beat #5 Tink's Hammer 127-91, and takes High Points this week, and moves on to go against the Jungle Cruise Skippers, and #3 Reedy Creek Smoke Eaters beat #6 Magic Knights 119-76 and move on against Philly Soarin'.

Low points this week belonged to ESPN Club, who lost 56-53 to Big Thunder Mtn Railroad in the Battle Of The Low Points.

In the Epcot Center Conference, #4 Pluto's Revenge beat #5 Mr. Toad Rides Again 115-60, and will take on #1 Boardwalk Buskers. And #6 Doom Buggy upset #3 Plutes Cowboys 80-66, and will take on #2 Disney Chiefs.

High Points went to Brother Bears for their consolation win over Team DoleWhips 123-60, while Low Points went to Grumpy Dopey for their 83-48 loss to Pete's Rant. Too bad for Grumpy Dopey that we don't draft in standings order - or will we? Hmm...

I saw it happen live on TV. Had to grab my phone to see if it mattered.

Football is a game of inches. And in Fantasy Football, no play is meaningless.

Yours truly, the Jungle Cruise Skippers (#1 seed in the MKC), had a 9 point lead (114-109) going in to Monday night against the #4 Cinderella team No Clue Crew, with the Crew sporting the Giants Steve Smith as their last hope, needing 10 points.

With the game well in hand in the 4th quarter and Steve Smith having a touchdown and 36 yards for a total of 9 points, the Giants put backup quarterback David Carr in for the last couple of series. They were running the ball and eating the clock. Steve Smith needed to make 40 yards to get another point for the Crew.

On 3rd and 7...they didn't run. Just a simple out pass, to Steve Smith, who was easily stopped short of the first down. But did he get three yards, or four? They didn't say - the Giants just punted, and they knew on TV it didn't really matter. Except to me.

I grabbed my phone and checked the Fantasy score - 115 to 114 for the upset. ARGH!!!!!!!!! The Skippers boat sank, on a "meaningless" play. At least we saw the playoffs this season.

The Crew also picked up the High Points for the week.

The other MKC playoff battle found #2 Philly Soarin' still flying after a close match with Reedy Creek Smoke Eaters, 85-81. So the Magic Kingdom Conference title game will be between Philly Soarin' and the No Clue Crew.

Low Points in the MKC went to the winner of the "Low Bowl", Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, for their 51-42 loss to Wheezy's Warriors.

There were no such upsets in the ECC. #1 Boardwalk Buskers pulverized #4 Pluto's Revenge, 102-65, while #2 Disney Chiefs had a closer match with #6 Doom Buggy, 97-87, setting up the EPCOT Center Conference championship between the Buskers and Chiefs.

High Points went to T-I-double-guh-err for their 103-46 wallop of Brother Bears, while Team DoleWhips took an early holiday break (along with Jay Cutler's accuracy - -1 point) with a 64-39 loss to Grumpy Dopey (I must be tired - I actually typed that as "Dumpy Gropey", but I think that is a different version of the story...)

Conference championships next week, and then the DISboards Super Bowl!!! I will send out some details on that so the potential combatants are prepared...

We have our conference champions!!!

In a whallop of an upset, newcomers the No Clue Crew (ibleedblue) beat veteran team Philly Soarin' (disneydaveb) 137-72 to become the Magic Kingdom Conference Champions, behind a team where the lowest points (aside from K Garrett Hartley's 4) was 12, scored by two players, one of which broke his arm (Car WR Steve Smith) !

The EPCOT Center Conference Championship found #1 seed Boardwalk Buskers (shaq_d) taking down #2 Disney Chiefs (Janitor Beans) 103-80. What do the champion teams have in common? Adrian Peterson and The Other Steve Smith.

So it comes down to Week 17, between the No Clue Crew and Boardwalk Buskers for the ultimate bragging rights - The Official DIS Unplugged Fantasy Football League (DUFFL) Champions!

For our last weekly awards, in the MKC the Crew took the High Points for the 137 win, while Low Points went to the Magic Knights for their 69-51 loss to Tink's Hammer. In the ECC, High Points belonged to the Carousel Of Doom (122-89 over T-I-double-guh-err), while Low Points went to Grumpy Dopey (89-62 loss to Brother Bears).

Congrats to the 2009 DIS Unplugged Fantasy Football Champion ibleedlbue and his No Clue Crew!!!

The Magic Kingdom Conference champ took on the champ from the EPCOT Center Conference, shaq_d's Boardwalk Buskers in an always tough Week 17 battle. The Crew made all the right choices, especially the unbelievable performance by the Chiefs' Jamaal Charles (37 points) and the Vikings' Brett Favre (28 points), to defeat the Buskers 128-84.

Again, it was a really fun season (and a bit less stressful now that we had enough players to fill two leagues). Perhaps we may need to add a DHS conference next season?

congrats No Clue Crew!

And thx a mint to Commish Brian for his fab work thru-out the season!
:cheer2:

cheers,
:flower3:

Thanks Brian!! Had a great time playing this year. I've played fantasy football for 8 years or so, but this was my first sniff at a championship.
