2009 DDP, DxDP and QS plans - Everything you always wanted to know

Are the Counter Sevices "pooled" in 2009? I did not see the answer to this in the first page. If anyone knows for sure please post. I have seen it reported both ways and I am not sure what is up with that.

:) Thanks!

By "pooled" do you mean kids & adults the same? If so unless they have changed from 2008 then no,the credits are seperate, this was brought in to stop some using their kids credits for adult meals.
HTH SD:thumbsup2

TS have always been seperate. In 2008 CS were definately "pooled". Some rescent visitors have reported that as of a few weeks ago, CS were still pooled.

I apologize if this has been answered but here goes -

all three of us are on DDP - DH, me and DD5. On Sat - we are going to CP. I would like to pay for the adults OOP and use TS for DD5. (Dh and I have a solo Narcoosee's dinner that I would prefer to use the credits on). Can I do that?

yes you can do that -- I would mention it to the server right when you're seated, and remind again when you get the bill.

Well thats good news for us then......though we may have a few extra credits to spend, but thats not bad.

This led me to think of something though......with the free dining, how does that stop someone from adding 2 "adult" kids (like 12 and 15yo) to their reservation and getting dining credits for them and spending them on themselves, without actually having kids? Seems like the free dining program would leave Disney wide open for fraud like that....IMO......

This would not make sense to do because you would have to buy adult park tickets for the "kids" to be eligible for the free dining. If you are going to buy tickets just to get dining credits, it would likely be cheaper to just pay for your food. The cost of tickets is expensive enough that I could not imagine this would be a problem.

Just popping in to report that CS was still definitely pooled, adult and child, Jan 29-Feb 5th.

I understand that Disney prohibits sharing....but what I am not understanding is how can Disney keep me from using my counter service however I see fit...don't the policies state that?

My real question is that my 2 year old will not be on the plan...we have 4 adults and the 2 year old (for 6 nights-so 24 counter service meals plus the table service, snacks)...so could we go and order 5 meals at Flame Tree BBQ on our first day and give one to my 2 year old? It makes no sense that I can use them in any order and yet only order 4 at a time? What if I am hungry and WANT 2 meals for myself? What if it is the last day and we have 8 counter service left...and we want to take them home with us? I go to different restaurants and order 4 at a time?

Also, my in-laws are coming, they are older. What if I want to go to the counter service in my resort (AKL Mara) and order 4 meals and take them to our room for everyone. Is this not allowed? My in-laws must be present when ordering, so they must walk all that distance?

I understand Disney does not want you to share food with people not on the plan, but in terms of counter service, I thought that we had 24 meals for our trip to use how we saw fit.

It's on your key card that you have 4 adults and no children. The CS should not permit you to order more than 4 adult meals and pay for those with the dining plan. You can share whatever you want with the 2 year old but you may not purchase more meals than you have people on the plan. If you order five meals you will be asked to pay for one.

However, not all guests must be present to order. In your case, one person could order four meals for takeout. One person with 4 people listed on the reservation would not be permitted to order 5 meals for takeout without paying cash for the fifth meal.

The DIS does not permit discussion of getting around the stated rules of Walt Disney World, including those referring to the dining plan. Any discussion of methods to circumvent these rules will be deleted.

Does the only ordering how many meals based on how many people are in your party apply to snacks too? We can only order 4 snacks at a time?

Can we order a counter service and a snack at the same time at the same place (if we wanted our meal to be larger or include something else)?

No, it does not apply to snacks, only to meals.

You can order as many snacks as you want anywhere.

Your reply also said something about not discussing getting around the stated rules of Disney...is it against the rules to go to different restaurants to use up Quick Service credits? Is it against the rules to take the food home with you?

Neither is against the rules if you are not sharing the meals with people who are not on your plan or ordering adult meals with credits purchased for children age 3-9. In your case, this isn't going to be an issue. However, under current DDP rules you would HAVE to go to different restaurants to purchase more than 4 meals at a time.

This will be our first time using the DD plan. We have 3 kids who will be 5,7,9 at the time of our trip. In the past, we have ordered a couple of adult meals for the kids to share at table service restaurants, as they quickly tire of the same kid's menu at the restaurants. How will this work since we are doing the dining plan?
Can they use 2 kids TS credits to share one adult meal, or is there no distinction between the adult and kids meals credits that are purchased?

The kids meals and adult meals are separated for TS, so you'll be forced to order kids meals for your kids.

If you feel that you'll be purchasing adult meals OOP for your kids in addition to paying for the dining plan, you may want to run your numbers and see if the DDP is a good idea for your group (financially).

Considering buying the CS plan for part of our visit (we are resort “splitters”), this would be the first time we have used the meal plan so I am trying to understand the intricacies.

So how do I avoid “breaking the rules” with remaining CS adult/children credits not being printed on the receipt? We break up our purchases in many different ways (sometimes my DW and I just get a CS meal and split it since she has a band and with a picky child sometime we only get one child meal in stead of 2) so keeping track of it ourselves would be a major project. Can the cashers tell us what we have before we order or will they just let us know if we are purchasing a “type” of meal that we are out of on the CS plan. I am a “rule person” so I would like to follow them but if WDW makes it hard to do this what am I to do.

By the way thanks to al the moderators for all the great info.

You may need to keep track of your own CS credits.

Disney has a rule that has been set forth in this thread, that you may purchase only the number of meals that you have people on your reservation at either CS or TS. If you have 2 adults and one child listed on your key card, you will be able to buy a maximum of 2 adult meals and one child meal and pay for those with the dining plan. Anything extra ordered would be paid for with cash. You can buy fewer meals than you have people listed, but not more.

Just trying to find out how to track how many children’s and how many adults are left. I guess if WDW has no way to let guests know and I will have to carry around a book to track it I will just skip the dining plan idea.

I hope the receipt still shows the total left at the bottom of the receipt. Can anyone confirm this is still the case? :)
