2009 DDP, DxDP and QS plans - Everything you always wanted to know

I've read through all the posts and have found some great info, but I haven't seen my question.

DH and I are taking our 2 sons and my IL's are joining us. Since one of my sons is 2 he won't have a meal plan so there will be 6 of us at meals. I heard that if there is a party of 6 or more they will add gratuity to our bill. Do they add if there are 6 people there or if 6 MEALS are ordered.

I ask b/c my IL's tend to be stingy and not tip well and I'm afraid DH and I will have to pick up the "slack" and make up what they won't pay.

We are on separate reservations (they wanted to book through a travel agent and I found it cheaper to book on my own) so when we use the DDP so can we ask to split the check since the room charges would be different?

Just trying to keep us from getting stiffed!

If there are six people. Doesn't matter if they eat or not and infants count. You can split the check. Each check will be charged the 18% tip.

Please discuss tipping further on the Tipping Info Thread at

I know it's not on the 'excluded' list, but can you use a CS to get the Plato Combinacion at Cantina de San Angel in Mexico? I think I remember reading that it wasn't included, but I could be wrong (and probably am :lmao:). Does anyone know?

Didn't see it on the excluded list here; but, checking just in case...are the Steamed Lobster and Surf & Turf entrees included in the dining plan? We'll be on the DxDP if it makes any difference.

Just a heads up - I just added a link to the first post in this thread to the DDP Comparison Spreadsheet that Robinb made up for us. Also included is a link to the spreadsheet that helps you decide if DDP/TIW or OOP is the best deal for you.

This is our first time using the QSDP and I have a few questions?

Resort mugs- Do you get a voucher for them or do they give them to you at check in? We have a spilt stay at the same resort. Will we get mugs for each time we check out and check in?

Breakfast C.S- I know you don't get a dessert with breakfast but do you get juice plus a non-alcoholic beverage? ie.. Can I get OJ Plus Milk/bottle water?

Taken from sticky:
Breakfast: Juice, Entrée, Non-alcoholic beverage
OR one Combo Meal, Non-alcoholic beverage

Child/adult credit- Our the CS entitelments still combined or seperated?

TIA

You will get one "mug credit" per person on your card. it functions just like a meal or snack credit -- get the mug normally, and it will be deducted from your "balance". If you're getting the QSDP for both parts of your split stay, you will get two mugs per person.

Breakfast C.S- I know you don't get a dessert with breakfast but do you get juice plus a non-alcoholic beverage? ie.. Can I get OJ Plus Milk/bottle water?

Technically, it's juice instead of dessert for breakfast CS. I've seen reports of people subbing in any second beverage, however.

As of now, they are still pooled. This may change if/when there is a true "kid's menu" at all participating CS locations. For now, you'll just have to keep track of adult/child credits yourself.

Okay I just read through this entire thread and did not see my question answered so forgive me if I missed it. We are going to be on the basic dining plan and I know with CS and TS your meal includes a dessert. I am not a big dessert eater and can not imagine eating two a day! So my question is with your CS meal could get a side dish (side salad, cole slaw, fries, etc.) instead of dessert? Would this be possible with TS as well?

Thanks so much for your help. :)

TS - definitely not. Appetizers can't be substituted for desserts at any TS. But you can ask for fruit.

CS - You can ask for fruit here too - fruit is always available for the kids meals and they'll give you fruit or veggies for your dessert if you ask for them. You would probably not be allowed to substitute a side dish. But you might be able to exchange a CS dessert for something like a bag of chips if they're available, or possibly a bottle of water. Ask at the counter.

I posted this separately, but I know you guys are the pro's.. so

I know this sounds stupid, but has anyone ever walked into a TS place and asked for it to go? I don't mind making an ADR and tipping, I just don't know if my 22 month old at the time will be able to handle 3 sit downs that are on the deluxe plan.

I know that in Family style and Buffet you can't, but what about the others?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I am trying to plan a trip with extended family for June of 2010; when does Disney typically release the dining plan options for the following year? I know that room rates are released around mid-August- is that when the dining plans are announced also?

Thanks!

I read here that "when ordering ice cream at counter service locations, you can have your receipt stamped. This allows you to return to the restaurant after you finish your meal to get your dessert, so your ice cream isn't a sloppy mess."

I have 2 questions. 1) Is there a time limit to when you can go back to get the ice cream? Could you go back to the same CS restaurant at 8pm with your stamped receipt from lunch and get ice cream?

2) Which CS restaurants particpate in this receipt stamping?

1a) No
1b) Yes, if it's still open then, and you don't mind walking back from wherever you've wandered off to by then.
2) Pretty much any CS that serves ice cream. Many of them don't.

Hi.

I reserved our hotel accomodation through disney before the free dining plan became available. Guest services are saying that I can upgrade my hotel and they will include the free dining.

Does anyone know how much we would be looking at spending on food for 2 adults and a child aged 6 over the course of 2 weeks, approximately....so i can figure out if its worth it?!

We want to eat at chef mickeys and a few other full dining restaurants but i just dont know if its worth the extra money. My partner eats quite a lot so the last thing i want to do is pay for the dining only to pay extra for food ontop!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At Pop Century there was, I think, a 90 minute limit. We got shakes and sundaes on several occasions. My guess would be Resort CS would function in the same way. Not sure about Park CS.

We've used the option of returning later for our dessert (ice creams) at both water parks many times. There is no time limit there-many times we grab them just before leaving for the day. Just make sure you don't lose your receipt. :goodvibes (I keep mine in one of thos waterproof cases you can buy)
