2009 DDP, DxDP and QS plans - Everything you always wanted to know

What they mean is: Your dining credits for the 3 night stay will expire at midnight on the day you check out, which is also the first day of the 7 night stay. If you have any dining credits left over from the 3 night stay on that day, you will have those to use as well as all the credits you receive upon checking in for the 7 night stay. After midnight on the day you check out of the first stay, you can use only the credits received for the second stay.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Is Fairfax Fare at the Hollywood Studios on the QSDP list? The menu on allearsnet looks like counter food but I don't see it on the WDW list of counter restaurants.

Thank you, that does explain it if people are buying a dining plan, but offering free dining sort of negates those reasons. Anyway thank you for your very helpful responses TDC Nala and Mom Poppins!

Free dining is offered for a very limited period of time as a promotion to get people to book rack rate rooms in hurricane season, and is not the norm at WDW.

This establishment just opened for business this month and is doubtless too new to be listed on any of the current brochures.

We will be experiencing the Dining Plan for the first time in August and am a little confused with what constitutes a CS meal. I get the traditional counter style meals count as CS. However, if we want to have lunch at the restaurant that serves both lunch and dinner (eg. prime time 50's), does that count as CS or TS? Thank you.

Each individual restaurant is designated as a counter service or table service depending on what type of service they give. A table service is any restaurant where you sit at a table, place your order with a server, and they bring you your food - or, a buffet, which also counts as table service. Prime Time is a table service at both lunch and dinner, because they have servers and you don't order the food at a counter.

Each restaurant is either table or counter service, they don't switch between designations. If you look at the dining plan brochure and the restaurant is listed as a table service, it's always going to be a table service, no matter what time of day it serves food.

Thank you for the explanation. I think I've been overthinking the whole DDP issue.

One question about the buffet style dining, We have the DDP with 2 adults and 2 chidren, are the kids required to eat just off of the "kiddie bar" offerings or can they eat what ever they would like?

Thanks

At buffets anyone can eat anything. "Kid's buffets" are just placement of the typical "kid foods" so they will be easy to find. Some of them have lower counters so the kids can help themselves. But kids can eat "adult" food and if the adults want they can eat the "kid" food.

and the dining plan expires at 11am check out time not midnight (thats what happened to us anyway)

The dining plan has always expired at midnight on the checkout day. So I do not know why you were not able to use dining credits (if you had any left) past 11 AM on your check-out day. I can't imagine that Disney changed it in the past few days without announcing it.

We have done the dining plan many many times over the years. The plan does indeed expire at midnight, however once our account was accidentally closed out when we checked out. I am not sure how it happened. We were at Cosmic Ray's for lunch after checkout and our card would not work. I called back to the front desk of our resort. They indeed saw the problem and they had some "runner" from the resort meet us at the City Hall at the Magic Kingdom with an agreed upon amount of cash for the credits that were still left. This has only happened to us once. I hope it never happens again it was a mess to get it straightened out. :)

Hi,
Never been to disney (well not in 20 years) and now want to take my 2 boys (almost 2 and almost 4) to disney next week (will be in Ft Lauderdale so we will drive). We will spend 2 nights (but 2.5 full days) at the GFL (I think). It will be me, 2 kids (1 and 3), my mom and my 89 year old grandmother. I am thinking of getting the Deluxe Dining Package. I am sure we will eat all meals on site. We may not eat LARGE meals every time but it *sounds* like a good deal?
HELP!
Thanks

I say go for the deluxe dining plan! Disney has lots of great places to eat. Since you will have your mom and grandmother with you it will be great for them. I would plan on doing the dinner at the Grand Floridian with Cinderella. :) I am not sure what you will find available at this late date but have fun planning!

Hello folks. I am starting to piece together our Dlx DP for us 4 (me dh and our 4 and 3 yr old) and my parents and 14 yr old sister!
SO!
Right now Im at the very very beginning of my plans. We went to DW last Nov and planned on the DP, but Canadian Dollar buckled out and we went Out of Pocket. It was still great, but we are SOOOO excited not to have to WORRY over everything. ANd all the nice restaurants we saw and I drooled over, we get to do now! YAY!
SO my dd wants to do BBB (yes she is 3 but she knows what she wants when she wants it!) AND has requested Cinderella's castle. And it does indeed look nice, but I am working with some picky eaters (not my kids thank goodness!) AND it's 2 Table credits. We loved Crystal Palace last NOv, what do you guys think? Am I scaring her if I don't do the castle? Does it really mess you up if you use 2 Table credits?

Also! WOuld it be better spent on something like the hoopdedoo review or Mickeys barnyard meal...whatever that is called. THe picnic one. My parents might like those as well.

Are you eligible to sign up for the DDP if you are staying at the Swan/Dolphin?

If so, are any of the Swan/Dolphin restaurants included on the plan? If not, any tips on where to eat breakfast on a day you want to make it to rope drop at any of the parks?

NO the Swan and Dolphin are not owned by Disney and do not offer any dining plan. :)

Personally, I don't feel you will be scaring her by not doing the Castle. One other great suggestion would be the 1900 Park Fare dinner with Prince Charming, Cinderella, the Stepmother and Step sisters....You can have her do the BBB at the Castle, but do dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the GF:) That is my opinion:) Good luck.
