2008 Marathon Programs Arrived

Still nothing up here in the Great White North!!!!:coffee: :bored: :bored: But I am patiently waiting:rolleyes1

And just 3 hours from Mickey's house in South Florida.....

Still. Nothing.

I'm having deja vu from two years ago... LOL

:earsboy:

To those who had already received the marathon weekend program, does it also indicate that the program is also online?

Thanks!

I didn't see anything that suggests its online. I'll check my program tonight and if it does say something I'll let you know.

I'm not sure what I was expecting with the program, btw, but it seems a little "light." Maybe it's because I get so much of my information on the Goofy from the DIS!

A patient woman I'm not! I'm guessing I'll be one of the last to get my packet, seeing as how I'm waaaaaaaay over here in Oregon. This feels like listening to the radio on Christmas Eve and tracking Santa's progress around the world!

:santa:

Well, crap, it didn't come in today's mail--so now I have to wait until at least Monday to find out (darn these Holiday trips!);)

I'm not even going to play on this thread for another fortnight....so far I've been waiting 18 weeks for a copy of Life and Style Weekly via Aussie post, so I might have been, run AND lost my toenails by the time it arrives,

Okay, I'm not going to whine anymore about waiting for it to arrive in Oregon. You've definitely put it in perspective!!

;)

Nah--mine will be the last to arrive. Around here I think they still use the Pony Express for part of the trip :lmao:

Received mine in Connecticut yesterday. Based on my number, it doesn't look like I'll get the benefit of an extra 20 minutes ahead of the sweepers by starting in corrall B for the half (assuming the start is the same as last year). Guess that will teach me to be honest in my time estimates. ;)

One thing I did notice is that this year's book states the 16 minute per mile pacing requirement and provides that you can be swept anywhere on the course. It does not list specific points and estimated pacing times to reach them like the 2007 booklet did (which I previously looked at on the internet).

They changed that online a few weeks back too. I know because I printed the sweep points while at work and it's on my board. Then Susan was surfing WWoS and found that they had removed it and now had the 'swept anywhere' rule. I'm not carrying for that. It should still work out pretty much the same but still I liked the chart and the wording.

Well I guess maybe in regards to once you pass the old last point which was 20.5 for the full (sorry don't have the Half on my board) they probably worried we'd all slow to a 30 minute mile and drag the day on LOL Since 2005 and having read some complaints elsewhere over the final sweep by the MK I have always pushed and not felt safe until I was IN the park. For the Half I'd breath a bit easier once I made it to Main Street then I would push till I was IN Epcot. Same will apply for me in the 2008 Full. I won't feel safe until I'm IN Epcot closing in on the finishline.

Oh and as of Tuesday nothin' in MI. I won't have a chance to post tonight as we're flying in the 4-wheel plane to Columbus, OH for the Bingham 4 Miler Flying Feather Wooohoo!!! My leg hurts but I'll limp the entire 4 miles for the Penguin medal ;) LOL Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

Even in the 2007 Event Guide and Schedule that they gave as part of the race packet from the Expo states that anyone who doesn't maintain a 16 min pace will be picked up. They list the pace points as an example of where you will for sure get picked up if you don't meet the pace.

In the half the points were(are) mile 3.5(WDW Speedway),6.3(MK Security Gate), 8.1(MK Paring Lot-Daisy), and 10.2(World Drive Ramp to EPCOT). These are easy points where they will have the busses sitting and waiting. It is hard for them to pickup up runners in other places. They only other one might be the entrance to EPCOT.

I have traditionally been one of the last people to receive my packet so distance didn't matter the past two years.

But guess what came today!

I am officially bib #10210 for the full, DH is 28710 for the half.

Yaaaaa packets have made there way north of the boarder

We are 31919 and 31920

I finally got mine today, only a week or so after Lynnda. My number is 6231 which should put me in the Red side so I can see the Wish volunteer team. :cool1:

Unless I'm misinformed, which may be the case, I belive you will get a few extra minutes vs. the sweeps in the half.

Aren't there more than 2 corrals per wave, plus what wave are you in? With you in B, there must be at least one corral behind you, and those corrals will be filled with lots of people. The start for the half on the new course is narrow, wicked narrow, so it will take a long time for all those people to cross the start, and the 16 minute per mile clock will begin at that time. If you can get near the start of the B corral you will cross the start many minutes before the sweeper clock begins, and you'll be on your way.

If I have this wrong, I apologize, but I recall more than 2 corrals for the waves of the half marathon start.

By the way, no packets in the mailboxes in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Apparently the Disney folks or the postal service cannot find us.
