The field at Bloomington needs to be ready for August 30 according to a press release from the school. Not sure what they're going to do.

I marched in the I.C. Reveries from 1967 - 1974, and 27th Lancers 1976 - 1978 and the Lancer Alumni Corps in 1994. I played mellophone with both corps. I taught Avant Garde in 1980-81, and 27th in 1982. I was a marching tech with both corps.
Back "in the day" (when I marched), nearly every town in Massachusetts seemed to have a corps or two (many had feeder corps made up of younger kids). There was always a week-end show within easy driving distance every week from late May until early September. The World Open and CYO Nationals brought in most of the big name corps.
I went to DCI Finals in Foxboro a couple of years ago. I appreciated the hard work of the marching (dancing?) members, but felt somewhat detached from the direction corps have gone. Most of the music was foreign to me, and the voice amplification was annoying at best.
My favorite show since 2001 was Cavaliers "Machine". Great example of a concept show that told the story without narration. :worship:

News from Madison! Drum corps is great!

After the massive rains stopped late yesterday afternoon the corps did have their concert for the people of Baraboo. After hearing the news that people there were trying to get ready for more flooding the guys pitched in . They helped sandbag till they ran out of sand and/or bags about 1:00 am.

"They are the MEN OF MADISON !" You make me PROUD guy's !

From the Scouts website....

Now that the season is officially underway.....

Who is going to the Citrus Bowl July 12. Haven't gotten tickets yet, but I usually end up in "the lot" most of the time anyways.
I see Cadets are staying in Kissimmee.. wonder if they are planning a pop in at a park for a little concert or parade?

Boy did I sure pick a rotten time to leave So Cal :-(

I plan on going, no tickets here either! Where are Cadets staying?

According to Cadets Calendar... Liberty High School. Am hoping more corps post locations :-) as I really need to get my DC addiction "fix" that weekend. Rumors has it DCI is not planning on theater feeds for qtr finals and unemployment doesnt pay enough to travel to Indiana :-(

So far, it looks like everybody is being "slotted" into about the same place they finished last year. Word so far is that Boston and Bluecoats have very exciting shows, with Boston being the crowd favorite. Cadets have a very demanding show and a superb hornline. They are using a raised, round stage, and there were some crashes into it. Love Bluecoats boxing theme.
I hope the live theater feed for qtrs. happens. That will be my only chance to see the corps this year until the dvd's come out.

Are you allowed to stalk the cadets?
I thought there was a restraining order? ::yes::
200 yards or more.

If you consider "stalking" cooking 4 meals a day for 165 people in a semi truck converted into a kitchen, sleeping on high school gym floors, or in a moving bus, taking cold showers at 3 am, and traveling to a different city every day, no I have not stalked the Cadets. But I have for 3 other "bands".

But come to think of it, they always did park the kitchen a good 300 yards away from where the kids praticed.....

Hmmmm :confused3

Haven't you seen any old movies.
Its always the cook or the butler.

I've also done the cook truck volunteer thing. More like 200 ravenous people!
Get up at 3 a.m. and make sausage and eggs with cereal, milk, juice and toast. Repeat for three other meals in the same day. With no money for yourself or the food. Tough going but totally worth it.
You folks (whom I love and respect) make fun of us "band" guys, but you have no idea of the work, love, dedication, and sense of family that drum corps have. They are a special people. I understand if you 'just don't get it'.
No problem. But don't put us down because we're different. (Sound familiar??)
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I don't like opera or ballet - but I appreciate the talent. 'Nuff said.
Go Blooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

OK Mike,

At least you had the Semi Truck Kitchen... I was stuck in a Ryder Truck with a make shift freezer, 2 burner coleman stove, and bbq  when I was cooking, driving, sewing, hugging, nursing etc.. for a beginning So Cal Corps **cough cough** Impulse when they first were getting off the ground. Glad it was only about 115 kids plus staff :dance3:

Boy was I happy :dance3: when we housed with SCV and they fed us ;)

Disneysoloist- :ssst: Dial it back. I get it. We've all got a "thing". Mines art and design. We're just joshing around with Mike. And I'd hope he would know that -but don't tell him - we so seldom get to upset his apple cart. :hippie:

Sorry if I was up on a milk crate, Wally. We 'band' guys are pretty passionate about this. I "get" the whole thing with bustin' up on Mike. It's pretty funny, actually. :lmao:

As they say it a DIRTY job but someones GOT to do it. ;)

Hello all, this is my first post. I wanted to add my two cents to the kitchen discussion and comfort of being on the road with a corps.

I'm a 1985 Blue Devils Alumni. That was the year that we were at a rest stop in Janesville, WI and our Food Truck was on fire. The beautiful, new, state of the art with huge refrig unit, sleeping bunks and bathroom - that was loaded with flags and drums and I think some horns due to our older equip truck breaking down in Minneapolis, MN. The next day was the one where we marched in full uniform in a monsoon in St. Charles, IL with the Velvet Knights drums. :)

23 years and we still remember :) Hence, why the food trucks are parked a bit away - trash, food prep and you never know what they're going to do!

Thanks for posting the scores!

Anyone else ready to say screw it?

"I'm gonna post for a weeks vacation, fly out, and go on tour!":cool1:

I miss tour! Good God it's hard work, but for some odd reason I miss it!
