WOW!!!! Give me your AAA agent's contact info. We have used different offices over three states when getting quotes and the best we ever got was about 14% (averages 10% or so)......guess you have a little more influence than me!

We are leaving on Saturday and we saved 20% on the room portion of our stay. During Value season the savings is greater 20%. Also we have a diamond card that saves us $$$ and there are story telling times only for AAA members. We love it.

I just saw a post....I'll try to find the thread....anyhow the poster was told when making their ADR's that the extra charge was not covered.

Just back and used the 2008 DDP. I understand all the rants about the tip, loss of appies and etc. It worked for us, that's all I can say. We used all our credits and had some incredible meals! I didn't keep all the receipts but did a loose running total in my head. We came out ahead, not by much probably but it did save a few bucks. Most importantly, it was all taken care of before we arrived. Meaning: we didn't have to worry about how much was left in the bank after every meal, didn't have to worry about charging food or hitting an ATM just in order to eat. It was convenient. It was also a lot of food. If we don't do the DDP again it won't be because we didn't save money with it, but because it was just too much food and we felt at times our trip was dictated by where we had ressies that day. Just my 2 cents.

I have read many posts since these surcharges were introduced....this is the first one I have seen that says it isn't covered. I have seen posts where the guest bought DDP solely because it covered the increased price of the buffets, etc.

I know this is going to sound impossible, but... the CM was wrong?

Briefly - expecting the DDP Guest to pay the holiday surcharge out of pocket is the equivalent of allowing a menu service diner to order the $24.99 chicken but requiring that person to fork over an additional $5 cash if they want the $29.99 steak. CM was wrong. Surprise.

Like what are they doing, since they don't have refillable mugs and it's part of the Deluxe. I just was wondering how they were handling it. I can't figure out how to explain it.

It's not just for AAA members. It's only for AAA members who book a qualifying package (room, park tickets and maybe DDP) through AAA. It's a nice perk for those who book with AAA, but again, it needs to be the package.

OK. Here is my complaint. I feel that the DPP is prejudice against us passholders!!! I want to use the plan. I like the plan. I think the plan is a good idea. AND I ALWAYS stay in an onsite resort. So why should I be penalized and not be allowed to purchase a DPP?

It was recommended to me, however, to try the concierge (club) level at a deluxe resort. I am staying at the WL on the club level in April. I am hoping this is worth the extra $$. Any comments on that?

WHY?!?! You get the same service @ POFQ for less than 1/2 the cost! Having continental breakfast incl. really isn't worth that much extra expense. Well I hope it does work out for you though, good luck & most important HAVE FUN!!!

I've gone through a few pages and haven't seen this asked, sorry if it has. Due to diabetes dessert is not really an option, can an appetizer, (salad), be substituted for dessert on the DDP?

No. Absolutely NO appetizer-for-dessert substitutions.

Disney Dining will work with Guests as much as possible to meet all dietary restrictions; or, the other Guest/s can share the dessert of the Guest who can't eat it; or, that Guest can simply skip dessert; or, possibly, the Basic Dining Plan is not feasible for parties with one or more Guests who cannot have dessert. That happens sometimes - the DDP is great for some parties, and a waste for others.
