That ice sculpture is unbelievable!! My sil and bil spent Christmas in Lake Placid in a cabin. They are from Virginia and when my bil did the iron man last summer they fell in love with it up there. They have already booked the cabin again for next year. I live in central new York about 4 hours away and have never even been there:eek: I just feel like I get enough cold and snow here lol

That sounds like fun.. You have it all planned out! I think you should stay away from the casino for a while anyway! LOL
I think my husband was the one who lost..lol i won.he should stay away:rotfl:
Ok -

Couple quick things -

Webkinz - GOT 'em - my son goes nuts for them. I actually got him two of the newer ones for Valentine's Day - the older one could care less!! LOL

Dolphins - ADORABLE - wish I could see them outside my stateroom, from my crappy porthole! I'll just have to come into one of YOUR rooms at 4am to see these things! LOL I am sure your families won't mind!!!!! :rotfl:

What else? Hmmm... I was trying to read along to reply to everything at once, and probably forgot something!

Mandy- how do you quote multiple posts? I keep hitting "quote" after each post and posting a whole thing - it would be a spacesaver if I could do it that way! I am sure you guys are sick of my posts, one after the other after the other :rolleyes1

Sure laurie we will call your stateroom at 4 am and u and the family can come on over to watch dolphins on the veranadah. Heck we'll have everyone over and have a dolphin watcbing party.:rotfl2:

Danielle, it sounds like you were very lucky to do so much travelling when you were young - no wonder you enjoy your vacations

yes, I got the travel bug early in my life. Of course I'd love to be able to go everywhere I visited as a child and didn't quite appreciate as much as I should have. I was determined to not move though once my children started school. I was in about 7 or 8 schools growing up. Everyone else in the schools (except my senior year in high school's school) also had parents in the military so they were all very friendly and also used to a nomadic lifestyle. My senior year we moved to Maryland and had a school literally 10X's the size of our school in London and we were only one of 2 families who had parents in the military. People knew each other from preschool and would ask us the most off the wall questions when they'd see our (I have a twin brother) London Central High School athletic jackets. I had people ask us if we spoke French since we lived in London and a lot of other weirder things.

I went back to part time work from home 2 years ago to help fund our travel habits. We thought our first DCL cruise in 2005 would be a once in a lifetime trip and after going on it, we do all we can to save and go as much as we can.

As far as Valentine's Day, we don't do much ourselves. DH's police unit has to work evenings every other week so chances are 50% he's not even going to be home. It's ds6's birthday on the 15th so we tend to have a subdued 14th. We usually have a dinner sometime that week as our Valentines dinner and he usually gets me flowers. We aren't big on huge gifts to each other at Christmas or birthdays either. We usually get each other one nice gift and consider our vacations more than enough. We've gotten to the point where we have enough "stuff" and don't collect any one specific thing so we'd rather not give things just to give them. I have friends that treat every holiday like Christmas (mulitple Valentine's gifts, insane Easter gifts, etc) and I don't want my kids getting used to thinking they are going to be getting tons of stuff each holiday. They do get more than enough at Christmas and birthdays from family and us. We are in desperate need of a yard sale to get rid of half of what we have as it is. We try to keep Valentine's Day down to some chocolates for them and a small basket with a video game and a bit of candy for Easter.

I better run up to DS6's school to go help with the book swap...

I can't believe how close this cruise is compared to when we booked it OVER a year ago.........

Danielle we are the same way. We love going on vacation with our kids and would rather spend our money on that than a bunch of junkie "stuff" that just takes up space. When my kids complain about not going to movies or carnival etc "every" weekend we remind them of all the places we have gone and the inground pool in the backyard. My dh and I don't do big gifts either for holidays, something small is fine.

I know, I'm so glad that I posted my tickers on the first page - It was over 17 months to go when I booked it, and now it's just over 6 - woohoo !!

Any plans for the weekend Mandy???

No we haven't Suzanne. Things have been so busy over the last few weekends with Spice Girls concerts, Kerry's birthday and going away last weekend, that I am really looking forward to a lie-in and chilling in front of the TV :thumbsup2

What about you ? What are your plans ? (and everyone else - what are you up to this weekend ?)

Pretty quiet here too. Haley has lacrosse practice friday night, Sydney makes her first penance sat morning, and Angelina has a field hockey game Sunday morning. That is a very light weekend for us, usually we have about 10 different things going on

Mine think every holiday means gifts..lol theyare usually disappointed with the box of choclate and token gift card . Hubby usually gets me flowers a couple days before .Once he bought roses on valentines day for 80 bucks and i was pissed so he won't make that mistake. Don't get me wrong i appreciated the gesture but the prices are insane on v day.
Yummy!!!!!!!!!
Nope sorry only strawberry daquiries will gain you enrty to the party. What is in a bahama mama by the way?

I can't believe we are almost there i will probably pull down the luggage from the attic and start getting organized in march. (i know it's nuts) I like to be organized way in advance.

That's so me I couldn't enjoy flowers that cost $80 when the next day they would only be $20:rolleyes:

I like strawberry daquiris too so I guess I'm ok!!! I really like raspberry daquiris but they are harder to find

OMG - it is great to finally 'meet' someone as organised (or bonkers - I'm not sure :rotfl2: ) as I am. My family think I'm mad to sort the suitcases out - and it drives me mad when the girls won't give me their clothes to pack until a day or so before we leave :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I don't think I've ever had a daquiris before, what goes into it ? I know I'll like it if it's got rum in it :thumbsup2

Mine try that too.But i wait until they go out and steal them from there rooms and make them choose what they are packing and what they are wearing the rest of the summer..lol i know it sounds nuts. We usually end up buying a ton of clothes once we get to florida anyway.
