I know that story - wait till the cruise - I'll be so skinny - I'll be in a bikini.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No i think this bodies bikini days r over...lol :scared1: Even if i lost all the weight i want to before the cruise things would still be to droopy for a bikini..i can always look back at my honeymoon pictures and remember i was once hot...lol:rotfl2:

This guy is a virtual stranger. Am i being overprotective and should let her go? Ladies please let me know your opinions. Jeff will just tell me it is up to me as usual.lol Thanks

How funny that I just watched Oprah today for the first time in a looonngg time and it was about trusting your instincts. If your gut tells you something might even be just alittle off you HAVE to listen to it. Sorry but "kooky" probably falls under my I don't think so radar:confused3

I also am a little suspicious because she has a 18 year old bf that we have forbid her to see outside of school and i have heard her on the phone telling him they will try to meet by hanging out with mutual friends.(i am wondering if he is planning on going to the city as well) I don't know if i am being overprotective, paranoid, or just should follow my instincts like u said.

Anyway - Michele - I don't blame you for being overprotective - the city is a tough place - and if you really don't know the dad? I would say, NOPE! But, I would talk to DH about it - and even though he'll say - you decide - you ought to push the issue w/him.. God forbid something happens, you don't want to have that hang on your head - man - can you tell I am a skeptical type!!

Hey Michele, I can see you're in a difficult position here, and like the others, I say go with your instincts. Personally I wouldn't allow my girls to head into the city with someone I didn't trust. I am overprotective too, and if something bothers me I have to tell my girls (even if it's something simple like keep your money close and keep a tight hold on your mobile phone). I wouldn't be surprised if she's meeting her boyfriend, and I think the only way to get them not to sneak around meeting up with each other without your permission, is to let them see each other at your home - where you can keep an eye on them.

Our house is always busy with the girls friends popping in and sleeping over, but I'd rather have them here annoying me, than walking the streets or hanging out a peoples houses that I don't know.

Thankfully I know most of my girls friends, and they are always welcome to come round.

My hubby is exactly the same, he likes to play Mr Nice Guy too, while I'm the other extreme worrying about every little thing that can go wrong.

I hope you're able to work something out, but I know I would say No, to going to the city

 Good luck with your decision

That would be sooo funny in my house. He wouldn't dream of buying me a cookbook. I've seen your presents from Paul, he does very well:goodvibes

I know, I'm lucky :thumbsup2

Well, just got back from dinner at Champps - we dont usually go there - but, my son's middle school was sponsoring a fundraiser there, so we went.. did I get a salad? or grilled chicken? NOPE! Had a cheeseburger - it was DELICIOUS!! ;)

Glad you had a nice evening Laurie :)

So, let me tell you about myself a bit - so you don't think I post on message boards and watch Little House all day! LOL

I work out of my house - about 70 miles from home 2 to 3 days a week. I work w/my mother and sister for a mechanical contractor - I do the accounts payable, and safety training of the men.. I also work from home doing some stuff for that job - but, I have been working for a publishing company since my oldest - who is 11 - was a year old - I type from home for them, so, I usually have the TV on while I am home working - I didn't want you all to think I was some fat slob that watches TV all day! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Although - that might be semi-accurate! Sometimes I crack myself up!! :rolleyes1

LOL, I never thought that either

So while we're on the subject of what we do, I am a carer to my mum. She has really bad arthritis, and I go over to see her most days and take her shopping and to various doctors appointments.

I know that story - wait till the cruise - I'll be so skinny - I'll be in a bikini.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I don't think the world deserves to see me in a bikini :scared1: I do like wearing tankini sets, but it has to long enough to come down over my hips - noone can see my stomach, goodness I've had two children :scared1: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No i think this bodies bikini days r over...lol :scared1: Even if i lost all the weight i want to before the cruise things would still be to droopy for a bikini..i can always look back at my honeymoon pictures and remember i was once hot...lol:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I don't think I ever considered myself as 'hot' :rotfl:

Hi Girls!

Well here are my thoughts.... Cooking... Not my favorite.. I'll do it but... Cleaning? I WANT A MAID! My diet/ I am still struggling to take og baby weight 21 months later.... The cruise is my incentive!

We live in the "sticks".. Seriously.... We live in the woods.. we see deer everyday all winter... My home town is wins the honors of "The coldest spot in the nation" on the Today show, and the weather channel....

DH and I are both teachers in different school districts. My 6 1/2 year old is a whirlwind and is VERY dramatic. My 21 month old has been going through every medical test there is I Think. She has pronounced hypotonia (low muscle tone) and cannot crawl or walk (She is actually just starting to hold the crawling position).. She has been tested for muscular dystrophy, metabolic conditions, mitochondrial diseases, genetic disorders, nuerotransmitter diseases among others and they have all come back normal.. She is the happiest child and so easy going! She puts words together and is simply amazing!

Enough of my novel for now!

Lol Mandy, It's funny because when the kids look at my pictures of younger days they usually say who is that or wow mom your were hot what happened? lol and my response is you ..:rotfl: :rotfl: I can't let nicole see this kid at our house either because my husband might kill him..lol seriously she can't date him because he was in a gang and supposedly gave it up for her(even though he still dresses like he's in a gang and hangs out with those same people) Rumor is he has quite a temper as well. Not with girls but with any guy that looks or talks to her. So i am kinda stuck. None of her friends are to thrilled with him either. She has 3 groups at her school preps, goth, whiggers. They don't intermingle .She is goth and he is whigger so neither side is thrilled with them dating. Her side is all into drawing and wearing funky clothes and his side is like yo homey and dressing like rappers and idolizingcharacters like scarface. She was in a serious relationship before this guy and i think she is just dating him so she won't be alone anymore.(i hope)
O.k. now that i have told you her whole life story i think i well get dressed and take them to school

Michele

 Aww bless her, let's hope and pray that one day, that something will click and she will be able to crawl then walk - and thank God she is a happy little girl. It's amazing how much we worry about our kids, but at the end of the day, if they're happy, then that's all that matters

Well Michele, all I can say is OMG !! No wonder you're concerned, I think if we were in the same situation, Paul would probably lock her in the garage and let her out when she is 21 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good luck, it's a shame that we can't get a manual when we bring up our kids - especially TEENAGERS !!! :scared1:

Jen, I can totally relate to you when nicole was 2 she started having seizures and they didn't know why we had many hospital visits, tests, MRI's etc. I know the stress u must be under. That's great that she is a happy child through it all. I am sure it will all work out in the end. It did for nicole she has hydrocephly( no idea how to spell it) but she has outgrown the seizures thank god. I am sure all will be fine .

Yes he would like to do that..lol:rotfl:
Yes the hospital really should give us a manual when we take them home .
Especially for the teenage years. I was a pretty bad teenager and so was my husband so it's in her genes:rotfl2: poor us.

Wow, I was away for a day and I missed so much. Lets see if I can catch up...

Laurie - you're making progress on the diet so be proud...its tough work but I'm sure you will do great

Jen - I hope everything works out well with your daughter. I'm sure she will be walking and getting into everything before you know it.

Michele- Definately go with your instincts...better that your daughter be mad at you now than something happens that you would regret.

As far as cooking...not for me...I would much rather go out. I do love baking though. We live in the same house as my mil though and I'm very lucky that she likes to cook and I happily do all the cleaning up.

My favorite show is Amazing Race and I do watch many of the other reality shows too but usually only with the help of Tivo since my son is a night owl so by the time I get him to bed I'm ready for bed myself.

I have been crazy with PTA stuff. I swear they see the kindergarten parents and put them on all the committees with tons of work that everyone else avoids. I really want to be involved in my sons school but I don't want to live there. Have to run and drop him off at school then go to a committee meeting but I will try to check back later.

Have a good day everyone!
Veronica

Afternoon veronica,
I remember those days of being class mom and pta meetings. Fun fun fun.

Well the nicole situation worked out for now i completely forgot it is sarah's b day party this saturday so nicole couldn't go anyway..hehehe. She is less than thrilled but at least not going to be mad at more anymore for not wanting her to go to the city. Sarah is very happy that nicole can't go because of her party because she is still mad at her for stealing her perfume the other day.lol Teenage girls are such fun to raise. Check back later. have a great day ladies

I used to love being involved in my girls PTA, we used to organise shopping trips, raffles, cake sales etc, it was lots of fun - I hope you enjoy it too Veronica :thumbsup2

Well that all worked out in the end Michele :thumbsup2 What are you doing for Sarah's birthday. It's Kerry's 17th birthday tomorrow, and she is spending most of the day with her friends. On Friday night we've got 3 of the girls friends sleeping over and she's having a little party (with silly party games too :rotfl2: ), then on Saturday morning we're taking them all down to a city called Southampton (as there are a few of their favourite Surfer type shops there) and we're all going for a meal in the evening and then staying down there for the night

The girls will probably go off on their own (as they know the city very well) and then we'll meet up to check into the hotel. It's a lovely break, as Paul & I will get some time to ourselves too

Enjoy the rest of your day girls :)

Sarah is just having some friends meet us at dave and buster's for a few hours then we are taking them all out to this japanese restaurant she just discovered. She loved the food and the whole show they do in front of you cooking the food. It should be a fun outing. Sounds like your weekend will be fun too.

Veronica - I know what you mean about PTA stuff - I am FOREVER at school.. sometimes I think I am there more than at work... I am the treasurer on the board, it's a lot of work! And, considering that is what I do for MONEY - kinda stinks to have to do it for FREE!! I am in the process of getting the stuff ready for the Gertrude Hawk sale, gotta get that out for Monday - fun, fun, fun! OH, and just signed up to work with a group for the spring talent show..

So, we need a song and a routine.. we are thinking something from Grease - OR I was thinking some Pirate thing, where we could get them in pirate costumes, but, what song could we use???? Oh, and before anyone suggests it - NO High School Musical! LOL The boys wouldn't be too happy!

Don't get me wrong, I like being involved, but, it makes me mad that it is the same parents running the committees and stuff - makes ya wonder why they don't get involved in their kids lives???

Jen - your daughter sounds like an amazing child - I have a friend - her children (all 3 of them) have Mito - that's a tough thing. I am sure your daughter will walk when she is ready -- I will keep her in my prayers!

I second the motion of the maid - and I have been trying to lose the 'baby weight' and Anthony is 8! LOL I think I weigh more now that I did when I was pregnant w/him! :scared1:

Lol yah this time at least. Well actually sarah is because she dared to be having a birthday on the day nicole has plans...lol...Teenagers are so dramatic about everything like she will just die if she can't go this weekend and it's all because of sarah.:rotfl:

You expressed my feeling exactly....you see the same parents doing most of the work. I am amazed when there are only 15 - 20 parents at the PTA meetings. Everyone is quick to complain but no one wants to get involved or share their time. I ended up doing the photocopy committee (we can't bring younger siblings into the school so I am forever trying to get my DH or mil to watch Emily so I can make copies for the PTA), Book It (I am a committee of one because no one else wanted it....children in the whole school read so many books each month then get a certificate for a pizza at pizza hut) and now Parents as Reading Partners. They tried to get me some others but I had to finally say no more. I love being involved but I'd really like to see more parents helping too.

As far as talent show, I think pirates would be cute but besides "Pirate Life" I can't think of any other songs. Grease has so many great songs and you can easily dress them in 50's clothes so that is probably a good way to go. Good luck and let me know what you end up doing.

Have a great evening everyone!
Veronica
