Hi all  DW and I have regained our senses and decided NOT to go in August. Dining may be free, but whoooo boy will it be hot -probably too hot for us to enjoy eating much :teeth: ! So it looks like the next WDW trip for our family will be January 07. Any idea when WDW will open up 2007 dates for booking? On their website you can currently check rates only thru December. Thanks :yay:

I made a room only ressie a couple months back with Melissa @ Magical Journeys.

The 07 rates should be out May-June or at least that is the general concensus.

My rooms were based on the 06 "standard" rate and will adjust when the 07 rates come out. Hopefully they will go down as this is Value season.

We are going the 1st-9th of January and with the end of the Holidays and the Marathon that weekend, I didn't want to wait to get the rooms.

When in January are you going?

Excellent decision! I've been in August before and all of the free dining in the world could not make me go back to the heat and the crowds. January is the absolute best time to go. So good, were going back!

Unfortunately, mamacatnv is right about the rates...

We are going 1/19 -1/25 2007 (may have to leave on 1/24, but hope not). Please, please, please tell me that's not the time for a marathon or anything. I don't want anything to interfere with my idyllic visions of teensy weensy crowds and scrumptiously pleasant weather. :woohoo:

I'm not sure when the marathon is next year, but this past year it was earlier in the month. We were there during the marathon and didn't notice any increases in crowds. It takes place really early in the day, so we slept in a bit and took advantage of evening magic hours. The only difference during the marathon is that when the marathon itself is going on, resort busses and traffic in general is rerouted and takes longer. No worries, even if you are there during marathon. It's still considerably less crowded than September.
