2007 International Food & Wine Festival (Marketplace Booth Details Now Available!)

We had gone shopping yesterday, and ended up in a shopping center with a state store. When I went to get Chinese, my mom went to the state store. We unfortunatly did not have the list with us of the wines, and she couldn't remember any names, and all I could remember was Banfi, which is what makes the Rosa Regale, (but is not featured this year,) and Mission Hill, which makes the ice wine. She said they had a bottle of Banfi "something," but it was not Rosa Regale, and the bottle they had of whatever was $55. She didn't check the price of the ice wine.

We have gotten both at Costco for a lot less then $55. I think it was in the $20's and the ice wine in the teens. I don't know if you can get it online through them!

Just an FYI on the Sushi pairings - I spoke with a CM today who told me the computer system will still not allow them to book the pairings but she did say that they are being told Teppan Edo will be open by October 15th.

Take that with as large a grain of salt as your daily sodium count can handle. ;)

The hubby and I have decided to make up our own sushi / sake pairing at Kimonos one evening - we think we'll get better variety there anyway.

Good luck to anyone who's still hoping to nab one of these - my fingers are crossed for you! :goodvibes

I must put in a word for one of the wines offered in the USA booth. All 4 of the wines on the booth menu are very good wines but our absolute favorite is the Dr Frank Riesling from the beautiful Finger Lakes area in NY near where we live. We're not just partial because we live nearby, we realy love the wine. We just visted the Frank winery and a few others in mid August and sampled a number of the wines. Many of the wines we sampled are outstanding. We came home with 2 cases of wine including a half case of the Dr Frank Dry Riesling. There is a dry and a semi-dry riesling - both are good but the dry is our favorite. It is crisp and fruity, and has a wonderful flavor. Not sure if the festival booth is serving the dry or the semi-dry. Dr Frank wines have won many gold medals at international competitions. California wines are pretty common on menus across the country so you might not be tempted by the USA booth wines. I highly recommend stopping by at least to try the Dr Frank Riesling.

Thanks for the info.! I've been on a hunt for a good dry riesling & hadn't found one we've liked. Don't know which one I bought last, but it tasted like a sauvignon blanc & kind of fruity but really mineral tasting. I'll have to look for the Dr Frank! Thanks!:thumbsup2

Hello Shovan!

Yes, it was the Mission Hills. It seems our Costco get a lot of the wine in that is at the Food and Wine Fest. in Oct. I have not looked for it since last year but I will keep my eyes peeled when I visit next. May it's gone now and replaced by KIRKLAND ICE WINE! :lmao:

There's nothing wrong with a little wine and chocolate in the morning. :cool1:

Thanks for the update!! I think we are still going to try and book it.

That movie is my favorite since Finding Nemo. I really hope they incorporate him into the festival since well, he's so appropriate for it.

I'm already planning on buying the Remy/Emile Wine Cork Set while I'm down there.

This is what happens when I get bored.

That's great! I love Remy!!! (Can you tell?) :goodvibes I hope to see some Remy/Ratatouille merch at the Food & Wine fest. :thumbsup2 I also plan on getting a picture with Remy & Emile at MGM. :yay:
