2007 International Food & Wine Festival (Marketplace Booth Details Now Available!)

Cool! Sam from Top Chef 2 will be there while I'm there.

Ohhhh! Ohhhh! I can't wait to tell my daughter, Jordan! We love Sam! Do you think he'll be cooking at the Party for the Senses?!?

Why am I missing all the good chefs? I would actually pay to see Cat Cora, Sam Talbot, Roy Yamaguchi, Keegan Gerhard, and/or Robert Irvine! Unfortunately, I miss them all. I guess this means that I will have to go to the F&W fest some other year in the future too. ;) Maggie

I'm sorry I'll be missing Todd English.

I see there's also no Rosa Regale this year either. At least I know I can get a glass of it in Italy. They do still sell it by the glass in one of Italy's shops, don't they?

GO BELGIUM, GO BELGIUM, GO BELGIUM!
They should have made a Belgian booth... with Belgian fries (served in a paper bag with mayonnaise on top), Belgian waffles (the real ones, not the US-version, ugh!) and Belgian chocolates. And cherry beer!

I'd be down with a Belgian booth just to get a taste of some truly great Belgian brews. I did some short time in Hassrode, Belgium and was in beer heaven!

While it's good to see Hoegaarden and Leffe ... there are so many superior Belgian brews out there. I'd even settle to see some of the other major players like Duvel or Chimay in WDW!

I just printed all of the food and wine menus. I'm going to have my mom go over it and highlight the things she wants to try. Since we're on the DDP we've already agreed that we're going to use the majority of our snack credits on the Food and Wine Festival booths. We've also agreeded that we're going to share everything, so that's going to be sixteen items we'll have to agree on. My number one thing to try is the seared buffalo with scalloped wild onions.

I was reading items off the menu to my mom, and she was only half listening, and she said, "that's all one night?" I said no, we can try those items any of the five or six days we're going to spend in Epcot, they're just the "snack" items. To which she replied "a couple of those are enough for a meal!" Which I agree with, but we are going to stuff ourselves silly, especially since we're going to have all the CS and TS meals as well. At least we're sharing.

So I had my mom go through the menus, and we went over all of the food items. At the Peru booth we both want to try the causa with crabmeat, neither one of us knows what a causa is, we just both like crab. :goodvibes I also want to try the duck with cilantro rice.

At the Canada booth we both want to try the maple-glazed salmon with arugula and roasted corn, and the maple custard. (We'd probably want to try the soup too, except that I make it all the time at home using Le Cellier's recipe.)

I want to try the lamb slider and kiwi and custard roll at the New Zealand booth, my mom wants to try nothing there.

We both want to try the spanakopita at the Greece booth, and my mom wants to try the coffee and walnut cake.

We both want to try the escargots at the France booth, though I only want to try it, because I've never had escargot before, and I've been wanting to try them for awhile.

At the Oklahoma booth we both want to try the native peach buckle and the seared buffalo with scalloped wild onions. My mom also wants to try the three sister soup, and I want to try the pecan pie.

We both want to try the walnut baklava at the Morocco booth.

And we also both want to try the sukiyaki beef roll at the Japan booth.

At the Australia booth we both want to try the shrimp on the barbie, and I want to try the grilled lamb chop with caramelized onions.

We both want to try the lobster roll at the United States booth.

At the Hops and Barley booth my mom wants to try the crab cake with the barley-lentil salad, and I want to try the bacon and onion tart and the glazed chicken drumstick.

My mom wants to try the cabbage rolls and the kielbasa and pierogies at the Poland booth.

I want to try the rum cake with vanilla cream and candied fruit at the Italy booth.

I also want to try the apple strudel with vanilla sauce at Germany's booth.

We both want to try the tea-marinated fruit at the South Africa booth. My mom wants to try the durban-spiced chicken as well. And I want to try the bobotie with mango chutney and the spice cake.

My mom wants to try the chicken sha cha at the China booth.

My mom wants to try the meze at the Turkey booth, and we both want to try the manti with yogurt sauce and the pistachio baklava.

I want to try the coconut Indian rice pudding at the India booth, and we both want to try the curried butternut squash soup and the samosa.

We also both want to try the spicy calamari stew at the Spain booth.

I want to try the boxty with bacon chips at the Ireland booth.

At the Argentina booth I want to try the dulce de leche, and we both want to try the beef empanadas.

At the Mexico booth we both want to try the chilaquiles, and I want to try the chorizo and chicken quesadilla.

I also want to try the mago and strawberry fruit salad.

As you can see, there are lots of things we want to try. Hopefully we'll be able to use snack credits. Even then I know we still won't try everything we want to try, even with four afternoons in Epcot.

My mom was writing down names of wines that were on the list, and I believe she's planning on going to the state store and doing a little "research." ;) Seems like my mom is finally getting excited about the trip. (I've been excited since I booked it in December.)

Wines for me are a lot easier for me to choose between. I really only like sweet wines, and this is what I have on my "to-try" list; the Mission Hill Reserve Riesling Icewine, from the Canada booth, the sparkling Pomegranate Kir and the cognac and cranberry cocktail, both at the France booth, the Takara plum wine from the Japan booth, the Kasztelanski honey wine and the Nalewka Babuni raspberry wine, both from the Poland booth, the plum wine cooler from the China booth, the Bunratty Meade honey wine from the Ireland booth, and the Moet and Chandon Nectar Imperial Rose from the champagne booth. I'm also going to have a glass of Rosa Regale while in Italy.

Sorry if that's TMI.

I was so happy to see a menu came out. I have recently cut meat out of my diet (still occasionally eating seafood) and I see some stuff I can try. I was a little worried there wouldn't be much to choose from, but I see I don't have to worry at all. I've never had a squash soup and that sounds good. Plus all the pastries and I plan on drinking myself silly.
:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

They need some Westy 12. If anyone could get it brought over here it would be the Mouse!

We have done the same thing! We are focusing on South African wines though for the South African wine event. We have also bought a few bottle of other wines featured at the booths. Our little wine cellar is almost full now! It never stays full for very long though! ;)

We had gone shopping yesterday, and ended up in a shopping center with a state store. When I went to get Chinese, my mom went to the state store. We unfortunatly did not have the list with us of the wines, and she couldn't remember any names, and all I could remember was Banfi, which is what makes the Rosa Regale, (but is not featured this year,) and Mission Hill, which makes the ice wine. She said they had a bottle of Banfi "something," but it was not Rosa Regale, and the bottle they had of whatever was $55. She didn't check the price of the ice wine.

Be prepared Ice Wine is expensive $50+ & it's usually a little bitty bottle! Rosa runs anywhere from $16-$20 around here.

Here is a recipe for a causa:

Peruvian Crab Causa
Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free

A "causa" is a dish of layered ingredients, served cold for a light entrée or a first course on warm days, making it an ideal dish for summer entertaining. Embellish each serving with an avocado wedge sprinkled with sea salt, pepper and lime juice, then garnish with slices of hard-boiled egg and a drizzle of mayonnaise slightly diluted with lemon juice.

There is a picture of it on the link.

ok, where is everyone seeing the Causa offered? I have had this before and it actually is quite tasty if made right. On Patricia's list it has Shrimp Escabeche (basically Shrimp Cerviche) offered. Has this changed?

The Banfi Rosa Regale is about $14-22 here in miami, we have a huge discount liquor store called Mega Liquors and I found it there once for $12.99, and it was the big bottle. The little bottle was the same price but funny thing is that was the last time I ever saw a little bottle. I've only ever found the big bottle again. I ended up buying 4 bottles that day, lol :)

My question too! :confused3 Is there a new list somewhere I'm missing. I'll go search now....

Love that stuff! Rosa with an ooey gooey dark chocolate dessert & I'm a happy girl!!! :goodvibes

Look at post #574 on previous page. Kabuki posted menus from allears. Causa is listed there. :)
