2007 International Food & Wine Festival (Marketplace Booth Details Now Available!)

these are the things I'm considering, but I'm torn for a number of reasons:

10/12 - F&W pairing at LeCellier
10/12 - S African Wine event

OK, I don't think we can do both of these in 1 day - PLUS, we had scheduled our eat around the WS to be this Friday night b/c Epcot has EMH and we like going to eat from the booths at night vs during the day. So these are my first issues. Would it be too much to eat at the F&W pairing and still be able to really enjoy all the offerings of the booths? Or do they give you a lot at the F&W pairing?

I felt the same way. I figured I'd book LeCellier until I saw the South African
event pop up, and I think it would be too much food to have so close
together. So I'm going to skip the Pairing and book the South African thing.
The pairing portions are appetizer sized, small bites. I definitely think you
can really get full from the booths very fast. I've used the kiosk offerings
as lunch and dinner in previous festivals. :)

10/13 - F&W pairing @ Bistro
does anyone know anything about this one? It looks appealing since it has to do w/charcuterie and cheeses.

I did this one a few years ago. It was ok, but not my favorites. Coral Reef
and LeCellier have been very good from year to year.

10/13 - Cheese tasting (Spain)
we did a cheese tasting last year and didn't really enjoy it. It just wasn't worth the $ (45/person) that we spent. However, this series of events says new, so maybe it's a different format? It is also now in the Odyssey vs. the Beach Club where it was last year, so we'd have to pay park admission in addition to the increase in price this year ($60/person)

My friends went to last year's and felt the same way you did. I would skip
this because who knows what the $60 will get you?

10/13 - PFTS

DFi wants NOTHING to do with this, so I guess, for the 4th(?) year in a row I'm passing up...

So PLEASE - any opinions?

Oh, convince him to go to PFTS! Skip the cheese event and put your money
at the Party! The food is all in small portions, but it's unlimited and VERY
high end. The wines have been very good, too. And the pastry chefs do
some interesting and tasty desserts! And you get some Cirque thrown in
for good measure. I think a few years ago, it probably was one of the
best bargains of the festival, but the price is now starting to catch up to
the value.

Another Dis thread has Three Dog Night as the concert from the 19-21.

They said they saw it on AllEarsnet but I still see TBD there. :confused3 Would love it if it was Three Dog Night!

DH & I are still having a horrible time making decisions about what we are going to book. :confused3

If we have enough people going to the 10/6 PFTS, maybe we could pool resources and reserve a DISboards table. Then there'd at least be a home base to go back to when you're feet are tired.

I like it! A DIS VIP table.

so obviously there's a conflict between the 2 above events...any suggestions?

I really, really, really want to do the south african wine event, but alas it is the night we arrive and we are doing PFTS the next night. (And I dont think I would be a good disney mom putting DD into Neverland club 2 nights in a row when we are there for her birthday trip. :rolleyes1 )

Has your Dfi gone to a PFTS? This is our first one and while I showed Dh last years menu for an idea he doesnt really know there isnt much seating/ table space. :rolleyes1 Maybe we can can get some other disers together for this date?

I would think that it would hold the same amount of people as the PFTS since it is at the same place! Lets hope because we are trying to get in also!

So am I ! Good luck on Monday everyone.:hourglass

please count me in on a disboard PFTS table for 10/6. I think it would be a great idea. Last year dh and i lost our table when we got up for 10 mintues. A group cleared our things over the objections of the busboy standing nearby. He saved my menu for me though.

Our planned events are
Monthly Wine Dinner at Jiko 10/4
Le Cellier or Coral Reef 10/5
PFTS 10/6
Discovering Wine 10/7

We did an EE last year but are skipping this year. The food was very good and we had a good time, but we both agreed that the "pros" in charge talked to much about how great they all were and at the end of the night we didn't feel like we had learned much although we had listened for hours. In the end I feel like our money is better spent at elsewhere.

Can you only reserve a table if you are buying a group of tickets, or can you tell them you will have a group even if you only buy two tickets? Should we just aim for a specific location and if someone gets a table, try to advertise Disboard somehow?

Shovan, you can count Jay and me in on that if you're not too scared to share a table with us! ;)

 :cool1: I'd love that!!! Not scared, unless you're going to wear one of those really cute dresses & high heels, & make me look like the dowdy old gal I am!:rotfl:

In the past when I've gone with a bunch of friends and we all got our tickets separately, we met up beforehand (around 5:45-6pm) out in front of Millenium Showplace. We then designated a table runner (uh.. me) and agreed on a rough area. As the runner, it was my job to power walk ahead of the crowds and find a table with enough seating for our group. We would then occupy the table and take turns going out on food/drink runs, leaving 1 or 2 people at the table to "hold" the table.

Last year I was told that tables marked "reserved" had been set aside for groups purchasing more than a certain minimum # of tickets at a time. I don't know what the magical minimum # is, though.

According to 3 Dog Night's website, on October 20 they are at a fundraiser in Indianapolis. On October 30 they have a private gig in Orlando...that doesn't sound like food & wine festival.

I would have booked at Disney that weekend if they turned out to be appearing then.

Anyone want to help me hold a table for the PFTS on Oct. 20th?

I'll be there with my Mom!! And it's my birthday!!! We'll definitley share a table, especially since my mom really needs the seat because of her back problems. We should exchange info!!

Planning for Monday -

PFTS - of course.

I wanted Coral Reef, but see that for my days, it will be the Seas Salon.

And perhaps one of the Chefs.....still thinking....

Debated on Exquisite Evenings, but for the price, I would rather return to V/A when there is not so much food and wine to taste at Epcot.

Tea? Perhaps????????

Need more time to think!!!!!

I just wanted to double check the phone number to call. Is this right?

407 WDW-FEST (407 939-3378)

Thanks!

I'll be in WDW on Monday (will actually be in flight Monday a.m.) Does PFTS sell out immediately? Just trying to plan if I need to call as soon as we land?

In my experience it does not usually sell out right away. Actually, we have gotten tickets for PFTS weeks after they went on sale, although we could have just been lucky with the dates that we had wanted. I would definitely call asap though...better safe than sorry. Be prepared...the phone lines (and wait times) can be crazy that morning! Good luck! ;)

We'll be at PFTS on 10/6:cool1: I have a question about the timing of the Eat to the Beat concert. Do you have enough time to watch the concert and get over to the other side of World Showcase for the start of PFTS?

I got my September issue of Bon Appetit magazine in the mail yesterday, and there was one article "Sultans of Sweet," that featured pastry chefs who have opened dessert restaurants.

One of the chefs featured is Will Goldfrab, who will be the presenter at the Sweet Sunday I'm going to attend. There's a short Q&A with him in the magazine, as well as a recipe, just enough to get me more excited about booking on Monday!

I just skimmed about 10 pages back, and here is a list of who may be going to PftS on 10/6. Did I miss anyone? How many are in your parties?
